We just got back from a 10 day stay at the GF. We were in Boca Chica which we requested with CRO when we made our reservations. We could see the kingdom, Comtemporary, Polynesian and just about all of the lagoon. The room was very clean and in great condition. We had no issues with run down furniture or air conditioning (we read posts before we left from people with these issues). The staff was very friendly, out the the whole 10 days, every cast memeber at the GF we encountered greeted us with hello and have a grand day!

We were concerned about this resort being too stuffy since we are very casual people and we were very comfortable walking around this resort.

The location is great, you can't beat it (except for Contemporary) especially since we had a 22 month old with us so we often went back and forth from the kingdom to our room. The maid service was great. They came in the morning before 11 and they were back at 6 pm for turndown.

The only problem we had was that 2 days before we were to come home, our daughter (22 months old) fell at the pool and we had to take an ambulance to the hospital and she ended up with 7 stitches. Security and lifegaurds were great and a doorman showed up and waited with us and then offered to pick us up at the hospital when we were done, which he did. He did that on his own.

However, we were a little surprised that we were not contacted by a manager for details on what happened or to ask how she was doing. We called the manager to see if she needed any info from us and she said no. We were thinking of writing to the GF management b/c we don't feel they followed up. We're NOT looking for compensation or anything like that, we just expected Disney to want to know exactly what happend, how it happened and maybe even to see how she made out especially since she is so young. I used to think they were careful or concerned about things like this. Does anyone know the name and address for the manager at GF?

Other than the fall (she is fine now and wanted to go swimming when we got back to the room!), our stay was great! I would recommend this hotel for it's location and beauty.

Welcome back, Cinmell! I hope your little one is ok. I'm surprised, too, that there was no follow-up on your daughter's injury. You'd expect them to at least call and make sure she wasn't seriously hurt. We will be at GF on the 12th and also requested Boca Chica. What floor were you on? What room? What's the theme like? Also, did you use Gasparilla Grill at all ? How about any of the other GF restaurants? We just are all so excited - any info would be great! Thanks!

We were on 3rd floor of Boca Chica, I think it was 8307 and it was a lagoon view. It was a non smoking room. I think the large throw pillows had an Alice them on them. The rooms were a good size.

We ate dinner at 1900 Park Fare which was very good. The food was tastey and hot and the atmosphere and characters were very nice. We ate several times at Gaspirilla Grill. The BLT's and steak and cheese were delicious. We also had breakfast there a few times and that was good too. They had eggs, pancakes, frenchtoast, hashbrowns etc. and they were all good.

The hotel was very clean and the cm's were very friendly. I think you will enjoy your stay. I hope you have fun!

Wow, I am really surprised that they did not want an incident report. Seems to me that they'd want that right away as protection later. Strange!

I am sorry that your daughter was hurt. I'm glad that the rest of your stay was so nice!

Erin :D

Welcome home. So sorry to hear about your "problems" - I hope you get some satisfaction from them. I'd send a letter to Al Weiss, PO Box 10000, Lake Buena Vista FL 32830.

Did you take any pictures of your room?

Thank you. I do have a few room pictures. I'll post them in the next day or two. I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but who exactly is Al Weiss? I'd like to know just in case we decide to write to them.

Overall our stay at GF was wonderful and would not hesitate to stay there again. Although I do wish those carts weren't always driving in the walkways. It got to be a little annoying to always have to move out of the way so they could drive by.

There were small things that were really nice such as having the piano or band playing in the main building as we came off the monorail after a long hot day in the park and little wishes on our pillows at night. A cast member drove us in the cart to the main building to the monorail when he noticed our daughter in her Cinderella's dress. He said this was her pumpkin to take her to the castle which was very thoughtful!

I'm not sure of his exact title, but it is something like "Vice-President and Head of Resorts/Theme Park Opperations" - I'll try to see if I can get the exact job title for you. :)

Thanks for your report. Sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. I'm glad your overall trip was a good one.:D

Glad to hear all went well -- and that your daughter is okay.

Some people are leery of the GF, thinking they will have to sit with their backs stiff and their pinkies up! Then they are AMAZED that the place is actually a lot of fun, and has a lot of personality. :jester: Go figure.

We've always enjoyed our stays at the GF -- the location, the service and the atmosphere are all TOPS. (Of course, so is the PRICE, gulp.) And, for my money, the character meals at 1900 Park Fare are among the best in The World, with unusual characters (Mary Poppins!) and terrific food.

You can't beat that vanilla bread pudding:earseek:

I bet WDW is self-insured, meaning they don't have to adhere to the rules of an insurance carrier. I'm certainly not an insurance expert, but it's so odd they didn't follow-up. This is the only explaination I can think of, other than it being a simple error.

We stay at the GF alot too, and love it. Nothings better!
