Hello: What a beautiful time to go to wdw, everything was a walk on. Just back from the l0 to l6 at french quarter and one night 16th at akl before the drive home.

First I will start with the french quarter, it was as lovely as I remembered it a few years ago, received towel decorations, maid service was excellent, the grounds- we just love the trees, flowers, etc and the river there, the boat ride down the river was great, the decorations in the lobby were really nice, we had connecting rooms with our daughter. The meals we had at the two counter service restaurants riverside and french quarter were very nice lots of food.

The akl was as nice as ever, decorated for xmas, our room overlooked the arusha savannah, at one point on check in day around 4p.m. the pickup truck with food came along in the savannah, the lady giving out the food saw us on the balcony and started throwing some type of food our way and it was like noahs arc all the animals came near us, the giraffes, wildebeeste, zebras, guinea birds, large antelope type animals and there were two cranes. It was great. On strolling around we saw the newly born female giraffe, she was three weeks old out on the uzima savannah with her mom she was about 6 ft tall very cute.

We pretty well walked on all rides, had the meal plan it was worth it, I ended up sharing some meals with my daughter. Our meals ts meals were at rose and crown, really enjoyed, liberty tree tavern - loved the food good interaction with charachters, but it was very busy for the waiters, crystal palace, very good food and nice interaction witih the characters, hollywood and vine, again great food and did the fantasmic show after - loved the show, then saw the osborn lights very nice as well. Also the kona cafe, great as well.
The next night was our top meal ohana, had a window seat facing the castle, it was so nice the waiters, two of them were great they chatted a little, the food was the best. The next night bomas, had another window seat, the food was good as well, but hubby and daughter a little reluctant to try alot of things, so they stayed with things they recognized.

Best ride soarin, dh fell in love with it,and actually was drawn to it many times in a row and said it was like an emotional experience, (I think cause he just lost his mom a couple of months ago this ride lifted his spirits),

The weather rained one day for about an hour at ak park, most days sunny and in the mid 60's one day up in the low 70's.

Our drive home down I75 was fine, but going we started out in a small blizzard and found in detroit michigan just before you get onto I 75 a hairpin type of curve, was not plowed at all and the car in front of us ended up sliding off the road before getting on I75.
Also at some point there were three lanes on I 75 but only two were plowed, the fast lane was full of snow and ice so no one could use it, I couldn't understand why that area was not plowed, everywhere else the 4 hours in canada from our home there were plows everywhere.

Overall had the best trip ever.

sounds great :goodvibes

DH really wants to go in December, but I think it's depressing the way it gets colder and colder on your way back. I makes you not want to come back :sunny:

Hi: I understand what you are saying, but on the way there it gets more uplifting when you start seeing leaves, green grass and flowers. But yes the drive home can be depressing. It is hard to believe that there are parts of the world that are not living in this horrid cold weather, they still have their flowers growing etc in dec.

We also had to watch for a "window" of clear weather all the way home at this time of year. The parks, hotels were decorated for christmas, it was really nice.

Hi Deb! :wave2: Glad to hear that you had a wonderful trip! Isn't December the best time to go? We've been so fortunate to have visited a few times in Dec and the crowds are great as well as the decorations.....you really feel the spirit of Christmas there........even though we all "miss" the snow and cold up here! :goodvibes

We're hoping to plan a couple of weeks next Dec to celebrate our 35th anniversary and I so want to try Soarin', I've heard it's fantastic! So sorry to hear about your DH's loss though. :guilty:

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! :sunny:

Hi Cindy:

Merry Christmas to you. My husband is not the disney addict that I am, but going on soarin was like an emotional experience for him, I am not sure why he felt that way, but he and others just kept getting back in line for soarin . They said it was addictive,

We had our daughter with us and she is not a fan of heights (not that soarin goes high, just an illusion) so I had to keep jockeying between soarin with hubby and the land/figment with her.

The weather was great for me to do the parks, I find the 80's and 90's temps are too much for me.

We ran into people who live a couple of blocks away on our second day in mgm, they also drove down, what a coincidence. Dh wants to fly sometime, so I may need the name of that little pill kim spoke of at one of the limeridge meets. lol.

Take care,

Deb.

Welcome home Debbie. We were there at the same time.

We also did Soarin 2x in a row- it was excellent.

Did you do a MVMCP at all?

I loved this time of year and could not get over the minimal waits for rides.
