We arrived at IOA at 7:15 from the HR and were the first people in line. It was not crowded (by Disney standards) at all. IOA opened every single turnstile so nobody had to wait long to enter. Also, the boats were running every 5-10 minutes or so and we happened to walk down to the docks and get right on, so perfect timing. Several people RAN like maniacs as soon as they went through the gates, so we were not the first people to arrive at WWHP, but we went immediately to Olivanders and made it into the second show. Then rode FJ twice and had butterbeer, all before 9AM.

WWHP is awesome, especially FJ, but I don't know what they were thinking when they built the gift shops. It was next to impossible to get around in them, especially in Olivanders and the shop outside of the ride. It was kind of like fighting the crowds at Christmas when everyone was trying to find the Tickle Me Elmo if you know what I mean.

I know. Everyone says "it's how they were in the books", but...they are in a *magic* world. The stores are not as small inside as they are on the outside.

And if you are watching the movies, well, actors are actor-sized...actors tend to be small, slender people! Of course you can get more of them into a space than you can get typical people.

ETA: And they are acting, not actually IN there altogether for a long period of time. They aren't *actually* buying things. They are shooting for a minute then going on breaks. etc.

She really wasn't too bright on how she had them design the inside of the stores, IMO.

She could *easily* have let them design a shop that looks small from the outside, but opened cleverly up into a bigger space, and it would be FAR more comfortable to shop for longer periods of time in.

Brilliant post. Sums up my feelings. :wizard:

UOR really missed a trick by not having bigger shops in WWoHP. I guarantee that takings would double if the stores each doubled in size. There are simply too many people who currently avoid the shops like the plague and subsequently do not use the online store once they get home.

Impulse buying 'on the spot' is a way of maximising revenue. This is never going to happen at WWoHP, I'm afraid.

Me too! I had 2 in the morning and 2 again before we left. I want to go back to WWHP just for the butterbeer! I had to roll myself out of the park.
