Just back - ended up liking FP+

We're back from a 5 day trip (Mar 20-24). We were a group of three adults. We booked our FP+ reservations right at the 60 day mark.

We were happy with our choices and didn't have any trouble using our Magic Bands for them. We started each day with an early FP (sometimes riding the first ride standby first). For example, we were at EE in AK by 8:00 am on 3/21. Rode EE standby twice and then went to Dinasaur and back to EE before our 9:10 FP reservation. After finishing AK by about 1:00 pm, we went to Downtown Disney for a bit of shopping and then went to MK. We arrived at MK about 6:00 and were able to get our 4th FP for Jungle Cruise. We ended up getting two more FPs (Space Mountain and Peter Pan) that night. This was on a really busy spring break Saturday.

Looking back, I think I'd skip the FPs for AK and just make them for our second park (as long as I was willing to be at AK when it opened and also willing to do a bit of extra walking).

One hint that we didn't know before we got there was that when you use the FP+ Kiosks in the park, use your fingernail to make your selections - it works much better.

Just thought I'd give the group my perspective - let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for sharing. We just got back from a trip as well on 3/22 and also ended up really liking FP+, though I hadn't been expecting to. We primarily booked ours for mid-late afternoon and between that, rope drop, and booking additionals, had a pretty spectacular and line-free trip. Glad yours went well!

Thanks for sharing your experience. We are getting close to 60 days out from our first visit with FP+ and I am getting anxious about how it will all work out. Your experience is reassuring. Glad you had a great trip!

my fastpass window opens up tomorrow night. Kind of dreading it as I'm from the old school fastpass system.

Excellent! Thank you to the OP and the second poster for sharing your experience with FP+.

Thanks for sharing!! We had a pretty good experience as well on our recent quick trip. My real concern comes down to "what if's". Like "what if" the weather is bad on the day you booked things for and would rather go to a different park? Or "what if" you feel like going to a waterpark instead but don't want to lose the FP's you have made for a certain day. Or worse - what if a kid gets sick and you can't go to a park when you are supposed to. I guess I'm just a worrier. If everything goes as planned it's all good.

I had a quick spur of the moment trip and did not plan anything during spring break! However, we got into the park, were able to secure 3 fast passes and used the phone app to find other short wait times. We were even able to have lunch at Be Our Guest. Then a few days later we went back to Hollywood Studios with friends. Again, no planning but secured our fast passes at the park. I was skeptical at first but this worked well and I'm looking forward to our "planned" trip in September.
