Just back 13-23 stayed at BWV was great as always! Had a great time, surprised the kids with SWW both got to do the jedi training my youngest was given a lightsaber at SW HWTBAM last Sunday. We go every year at this time and the crowds were the WORST I've ever seen! Next to impossible to get seating for any sit down meals. We tried to get lunch a few times at park openings and they only had late evenings available. Lines were long, when Listen To The Land is over an hour you know it's bad! Now the worst thing that Disney has ever come up with other then STITCH is evening EMH! The crowds were so bad that even my kids didn't want any part it!! I'm talking 60 to 90 min. waits at 12:30 at night with thousands of people in the parks it looks like 1:30 in the afternoon! Charge me $10 or $20 if it cuts the people which it would I'd rather pay for it then deal with that mess! If you have any questions let me know. :teeth:

We were at MGM for SWW on Sunday too and my dh and ds got to do Jedi Tranining too - they were so excited!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I agree that the crowds were heavy, especially at MK and MGM. We were there the 19 - 22 and the lines at EMH at MK were so long that we didn't even go on a ride. We just enjoyed ourselves by walking around and looking at things.

We stayed at AKL and it was great!!! Our trip was awesome, but I will agree that it was very crowded.

What time did you do the Jedi Training on Sunday - my dh and ds were around 6:30 (I believe). When Darth Vader came on stage, they were thrilled to "battle" it out with him.

Maybe it depends on the time of year you travel. We used EMH in January and it was great! Sorry you had a bad experience.

I totally agree with EMH stinking. We were there June 12-19th There were 3X as many people in the park after hours than during the day. We left the kids with Grandma at 9:30pm. I am not joking, we stayed until 1:30am and only went on 5 attractions/rides. And one was the jungle cruise. LOL.

My take is everyone is at that park at that time. There are no other parks open to thin it down.

Don't even get me started on how long it took to get on a bus to go back to the resort. I think we waited for six buses before we could get on one. Two were coming at a time.

I fully agree. Even in the off season, it is majorly busy during the evening EMH. The thing I don't understand is If disney can charge 10-20 for an e-ticket night, why are they giving so many free nights away with this program. Heck MNSSHP wasn't as busy as our last MK evening EMH

Bren, my youngest DS4 who is a huge SW fan did the training on Friday he did a great job up until Darth Vader walked out in which he started to freek out!! :earseek: The guy was HUGE!! He calmed down after awhile but didn't want any parts of the duel. My oldest DS8 did the 12:30 jedi training on Sunday and he fought Darth Maul! My son is a brown belt and works with weapons alot so when they started fighting it was pretty impressive he hit all his marks and was so quick that the crowd went wild and even Darth Maul patted him on the back when they were done. :teeth: Needless to say I was the proud father after that!

As far as the EMH evening I did go to the front desk to question the crowds and was told they have been getting alot of complaints and basically all they are telling people is that the later you stay the less the crowds are, which is ok I guess as long as you don't have any little kids.

I had a feeling EMH would be like this in the summer. We were there in January and it was busy during EHM at MK and Epcot. I think we will be avoiding them entirely this summer and making use of our mornings and Non EMH parks days.

I felt so bad for the people staying at the AS resorts the amount of people waiting for a bus was CRAZY!!!! Even at CS they were backed almost to the ferry dock! I think Disney feels they are making more money from the guests once they are in the parks then the $10 they used to get. I just hope they wise up and offer the front of the line deal like Universal it makes more sense. This was the first trip I did not ride Space Mountain since I was about 8 with almost a 2 hour wait and a line that went all the way out to the Astro Orbitor I had to end my streak. :sad2:

Could not agree more! We just returned yesterday (6/25) from a week stay at BWV and the EMH nights were a complete waste of time. My wife and daughter were in line for Test Track from 10pm to almost 12am. Almost all of the wait times went up, not down at the EMH nights we attended. Disney is not doing anybody, except maybe their botton line, any favors with EMH.

I really don't think they are worring about the lines being long, etc... for the EMH, they are making money on food and snacks. The food is so overpriced, people tend to eat and snack alot. I see it as a money maker only, Disney is not dumb.
Just like making the tickets cheaper, the longer you stay is in my opinion, a money maker decision. Yes, the tickets are cheaper for the 7 day, but they know the hotel, and all the food you will spend, will more than make up for the difference.

See I have a little different opinion. We went 6/11-6/18 to WDW and US/IOA 6/18-6/21.

We did all the EMH the mornings were great but the evenings were busy but not that bad if you did not hit the major rides. The night of the EMH AM at MK we went on Buzz LIghtyear 5x in a row since everyone left after the fireworks, but on the Firday EMH PM we went on it once after the fireworks everyone came on. Yes it was 90min on Sorin in the EMH but the other rides, (not test track) was a short wait. Journey in Imaignation, Honey I shurnk the audience and the Land was less all 5-20 min wait the most.
Also at MK EMH we went on the cars only 10 min, alladin..no wait at all and some other rides. But if you want the big rides like Space mountain, splash mountain and thundermoutain it was a longer wait. My 7 year old came to the hotel with my husband at 1:45am...and they had a blast...of course that was because space mountain was down(a lot of the time) and he rode the people mover ride and saw it lite up.

We got luck with the bus service and did not wait to long except for the downtown disney bus that was so back in the afternoon and waited a long time.

I'll be really interested in how the extra evening hours works out; I was looking at them as a bonus, but from these posts it sounds like the best option is to use the morning hours, or just avoid the extra time altogether. Do you think this is mostly due to the time of year rather than a problem with the program itself? My trip is at the beginning of October, and I've understood that to be a slower, less crowded time to visit.

I'll agree that the later you stay , the easier it gets. Now, I had my DD & her friend on this trip (both 14) so they were lovin' it. The parents of little ones were long gone at these late hrs. Now, Epcot evening EMH was a joke !! Soarin' & Test Track were both 2 hr waits (the CMs were telling everyone this to keep more from getting in line) I'm sure they wanted to get home before sunrise. AK was a little better, but on the night we went they were only loading Diosaur from one side which caused the lines to build a bit, everything else was a walk on. MK was the best for us, we entered the parks at 10:00 pm well rested & stayed untill 2:00 am. The CMs were so cool at these late hrs, lots of interaction ! The Haunted Mansion CMs were really cutting up, scaring all of the girls & playing dead laying on the floor ...this just doesnt happen during a crowded day!!!!Also at Thunder Mountain R/R
everyone in the train had to give a big "YeeHaw" before they would start the ride ( all in all a real blast ) . But remember....go into MK well rested & ready to stay untill 2:00 am .The park quickly turns more young adult oriented , we did have fun at the MK evening EMH only.
P.S. The MK had almost every attraction open in the park ( except Presidents , Tiki Birds & Riverboat ) . We had our own private boat for Pirates & empty boats front & rear. Jungle Cruise - empty boat with tour guide sitting there just waiting for us - another private boat ride. This just doesnt happen on a normal day.

I agree - but, in the long run word will get out. It will reduce the "value" of the extra time - reducing the need to stay on-site. In the long run they may end up shooting themselves in the foot by de-valuing their own "perk" - Of course, then they will just change everything again - after we've made all our ps reservations!

I'm sorry EMH was such a bad experience for you. Maybe the time of year combined with the better pricing & special deals they've been advertising have a lot to do with it. When we were there in Jan EMH evenings were awesome. Of course, I don't think as many people had heard about it since it had just started.

To parapharse the great Yogi (berra): Oh, those evening EMH's are so crowded, nobody goes to them anymore! :earboy2:

even if you get on 1 ride during EMH that's 1 more than you would have without EMH
