Ummm....first night...for the first...I don't know...6 or so hours of the cruise....
16-20 foot seas!!!!
Reading the cruise report on the tv with the STRONG GALE FORCE 9 winds and the VERY ROUGH seas....OY VAY!!!! They closed the pools early....poor little mickey lost the water from his ears and I believe if they had surf boards on the ship--many folks would have enjoyed the new Mickey Wave pool.
And the seas...I think they could have had an off-shore surfing excursion.
But it was still a WONDERFUL cruise!!!! So whoever remembers the weather map on Sunday evening.....whatever that stuff was we were sailing through...the Captain trucked along...and in about 6 or so hours...we were out of it...and even though those seas were rough as well...it wasn't nothing like it was at the start.
For some on board perspective of what it is like in rough seas....
clanking of the metal decor in Tritons...aaahhh...dinner music.
walking in the hallways---grab the left rail....start walking...now where did that right rail come from. OOPS--sorry room steward guy. I SWEAR I haven't even started drinking yet. What do you mean that this is BETTER than what you sailed in last night.
Walt Disney Theater (the one with the shows!)....ascending down the stairs required a safety harness and cords.....btw, they make those arm rests way too darn low to use has handrails. I'm sorry ma'am...didn't mean to grab you there. Just trying to prevent my expeditious descent down the stair case.
The show curtains---cha cha cha to the left y'all.....to the right.....repeat....about 50 times.
Man can that illusionist balance well!
Sitting down--you are doing the butt-scoot-boogy..whether you want to or not.
And the atmosphere...I was NOT counting on the boat CREAKING so much!!!
My room....it really could put you back in time on the mayflowere with as much noise as it made.
But the good news--it only did this in those high seas.
Would I sail again...you bet your sweet bippy! I would just remember the dramamine...and bring my own. That chewable stuff tastes like nasty aspirin.
NOte: I went on a 7 day cruise a couple of weeks ago and didn't get sick at all. DCL for 1 night looked kind of like a Carnival cruise ship--people that had partied too much.
Though not so funny---we saw 2 people who were collapsed on a staircase. I think they were ready to get off of the roller coaster ride. A room steward had to call for assistance b/c I don't think they could get to their rooms.
Barf bags were aplenty--though many folks still had some accidents as we saw several cleanups going on.
But still a great cruise and this was just 1 rough night out of four! If the forecast looks like it will cause all that--be proactive with your treatments and you should be fine. The captain will know (he announced it) if it is going to get rough and will advise you ahead of time.
And my youngest daughter got sick in the club on the first night. (very prone to motion sickness...though I didn't know it could get that bad as she was totally fine on our 7 day cruise).
