Boy oh boy did I have a trip this time! Not only was there a lot of fun, meeting nice people and great weather but there also were too much problems. Flying in to MCO, NWA broke parts of my powerchair and the charger. NWA dropped the bal big time and didn't proparly deal with it at all. Because I was travelling alone, this meant me being stuck in the room/around OPR.

As soon as one of the CM's found out about this, they started working their miracles. Sure, it took a long time, being put on hold for long times, but they just kept going at it. They tracked down a company that could help me with a rental charger so I could at least drive around proparly without the risk of the battery failing on me. They sent a CM to pick it up for me and payed the rent as a "good will gesture", wouldn't hear anything about me paying. Unfortunately there was no way of fixing my chair in the US which meant a lot more pain and risks. Nobody could fix that, not even those working magic. However, they even offered to arrange for me to get another powerchair during my stay! Now how's that for pixiedust? pixiedust: Unfortunately I couldn't get another chair (otherwise I would have gladely did that myself and payed for it) because of the stuff I need in a chair that isn't available as rental in the US, but they really tried all they could to make my stay as good as possible. They sent balloons up to the room, arranged for me to use the DM to get to the airport to fill out some paperwork and were really watching out for me during the week. No way I could get in and out of OPR without a CM that knew about the situation asking me yet again if everything is ok and if there's something more they could do.

They really made something that otherwise would have been the trip from/to hell the best experience possible. :cool1:

I'm so sorry to hear about the problems you encountered on your trip! But wow, you are very lucky and blessed and I am so glad that you were able to enjoy the trip dispite the difficulties. I just hope that NWA corrects their mistake! And yes, Disney did come to your rescue and I am thankful for that.

Welcome back!

I'm sorry to hear your trip back was almost as bad as the trip over here. I think I'll never fly NWA. I can't believe how badly they treated you.

On the other hand it was great running into you at EPCOT. I should have gotten someone to take a picture of the 2 of us.

It seems like you really liked CBR. I've never stayed there since I thought since it's the oldest moderate it would be the least accessible moderate. I'm glad to hear it worked out well for you and they treated you wonderfully.

So you're hooked on WDW now? :) It's real easy to fall in love with the place. It's got a special magic that even makes pushing up the hills easier then in the real world.

Yep, I'm back. Hopefully you've had a bit of a better flight back!

:lmao: Well, I'll just have to go back a second time than, if only it was for taking that pic. ;)

CBR worked out great. I could get around the room with both chairs in the room with no problems at all. And being next to OPR is something you won't hear me complain about. But than again, I've got it easy with the powerchair. Even if staying at Trinidad South, I'll just drive over without having to do much. It would probably be more problamatic that I'ld have to just do it, lazy old me. :rotfl: Only downside I found was the carpet on the floor but I reckon you'll find that at any resort, right?

Only real downsides are the amount of busstops (which is also a plus and it looked like there were relatively little wc's and ecv's at CBR) and the tiling (spelling?) in OPR. It's done in those "looks great but rides horrible" crooked tiles that'll shake you up good.

I'm so hooked, you don't even want to know. If anything will get me flying again, it'll be WDW. And even at this point I'm allready like "OK, this happened with one airline, I know which one doesn't suit my personal needs, that doesn't mean another airline doesn't either. I've had better experience with others with the manual, so I should really try it another time with somebody else before giving up on flying. Just not today, this month or the rest of this year."

And you've said it, it's not just the rides and looks. It's the way they deal with things. After this I feel so relaxed about travelling alone with a chair to wdw. They were really great and very carring about it all, management became involved and they talked about it afterwards because a number of cm's were left feeling horrible there wasn't more they could do. (which makes me almost feel bad as they shouldn't feel so bad for something they didn't cause) While we all know from this board that things don't allways go right unfortunately, this experience has given me the confidence to at least trust this group of CM's with my chair. And I don't trust anyone whit those anymore. :rotfl2:

It's the same with NWA. While you didn't want to run into me yesterday/this morning and bring up the subject of NWA, I'm realistic enough to know that my experience isn't standard -or hopefully?-. For me they're a no-way-airline but for someone else they might be the right one for the job, who knows? All I know is that I'll be keeping my eyes open about others experiences with american airlines, just in case I ever come back again. I know NWA, KLM and Martinair aren't airlines that fits my needs, so I'll just have to keep looking. I've found the right one for flying east, so I'll find the right fit for flying west.

And for now; finally of to bed and saying bye-bye to the jetlag. Never had one before, but this time it's bingo. Even my body is telling me I need to be at WDW. :rolleyes1

sorry to hear about your bad luck and glad to hear at least that the resort treated you well.
I hope you end up with the compensation that you deserve for your broken equipment.
