Can I say OMG!!! We did MGM on Sunday 3/9.

After debating about it DH finally gets up the nerve to get in line right after we've eaten which makes me even more apprehensive. Alas I get in line. Of course there is no wait so I'm unable to ponder what is ahead of me...Rode in the first row next to a young guy who says he's ridden it hundreds of times because he works there. So he precedes to talk along with the words the entire time along with the last row of probably about 8 local kids who can't quit talking about how they are going to pose for the picture. Talk about anxiety!

So the beginning is cool. Awesome special effects! And then it happens...............

Talk about almost crapping your pants! I've never been on a ride like that before! I totally think going up was worse than coming down, but just the same I kept my eyes closed the whole time! It was a huge rush, and thankfully I didn't get sick. I'm glad I did it but don't know if I'd have the courage to do it again!

So that way my experience. I'd definitely recommend people who haven't done it to try.....at least once.

Congratulations on being brave enough to ride ToT!

We've been to Disney lots of times, and I still can't get the
nerve up to ride :( . I love Space Mountain and Rock-n-Rollercoaster, but something about big drops....

I always say, maybe next time:D !

I am so glad you rode it. I love the ride, but it takes my breath away for a second every time I ride it.

I love this ride sooooo much ! I can do it over and over again.

However, it is best NOT to do this on a full stomach !

I agree-- going up is way worse than the drop. I did it once and don't know if I'll do it again.

This is my favorite ride, but I will be riding alone whenever our kids are grown and gone. DH breaks out in a cold sweat whenever he goes on rides like this or any roller coaster.

Congratulations! I understand what an accomplishment this is. I'm a chicken who asked for advice here about a month ago on whether or not I should ride ToT. We leave in a week and I had decided to do it. :) I'm not sure your post really improved my confidence level

The bad news is that I just found out my husband will be off on a business engagement the mornig I have it planned so I'll be riding with my 2 teenagers (1 of whom is really into the pose for the camera thing). I do plan on no breakfast before it. I should probably be most scared about the aftermath when they tease me for screaming my head off.

What surprised me about the advice I got here was how I was almost convinced to do Rock 'n Roller Coaster. Still can't quite decide. I just can't imagine that upside down thing.

I'll let you all know in a few weeks how it turns out.

Karenrc...all i can say is ...do it. RnR is sooo smooth and so fast, you will not even feel the upside down part. this is not your typical carnival tip-n-puke ride. As for Tower of Terror, I think it is one of the most "Disney" rides there is. Every detail is so well done and presented. Look for the room service trays and shoes for the shoe shine boy in the hotel corridor....too cool! The "drop" is only a small piece of the whole experience.

Congratulations! I wish I had rode it with you, it is my favorite ride and I absolutely love riding it with newbies!!!!:p

The drops are so cool. I just wish it was not so dark so I could see. I wear my sun glasses on a strap around my neck. When I do the drops I can hold my glasses out in front of me and let go and they just float. My DD would stay on that ride all day. RnR is my all day ride.

I'm going to try that next time!

My DW used to get sick on the "old" TOT, but the new drop sequences have made a change in her. It is not as much of a yoyo effect as it use to be. She is there this week with out 14 years of age DD and has ridden it 5 times and plans on riding it more before she leaves on Sunday.
By the way a week ago it was reported that a lady in her mid 70's has been on it over 500 times!

Just the whole effect is great. But don't tell my daughter that. Our first trip as a family in 2000, I talked my then 8 year(very small) daughter into riding. I thought ToT dropped only once and then it was over(oops, LOL). Well after the first drop, the second drop and the third drop, my poor daughter was absolutely hysterical. Needless to say she didn't trust my judgement on any of the rides the rest of the trip. She states she will not ever get on the ride ever again. We will have to see in 45 days:rolleyes:

we had a similar experience with our daughter when she was seven on BTMRR. She did not speak to us for a solid hour after getting off the ride. Last fall (at age 10), I finally got her back on, and now she loves it!!!

I am still trying to get the courage to go on ToT. How long do you think the actual ride is, from going up to coming down. Everytime I go there I chicken out. I am thinking of going on EE and make it the first ride so I don't have to wait long in line.

I really hope that the new Drop profile will be at least a little more comfortable for my DW ! Myself and my two DS's truly love this ride.......we'll find out in May.

My DD did this first time at age 8, but only once. Once per trip is her limit, and I love this ride! Last trip, I told her that they were putting in seat belts instead of lap bars. I thought this might make her more willing to go, since she would get less air time. And she said "but the air time is my favorite part!" Go figure. Not sure what her "un-favorite" part is. Diana

One night we were the only family in the ride, they were shutting down for the night and we were the last to get into the line. By the time we caught up with the elevator part everyone else had gotten on. My DD was terrified with the ride so empty except for us, I have to admit, so was I. When the CM said last call if you want out and gave a haunting laugh(he was enjoying our scared expressions I'm sure),my DD jumps up and says "I'm outa here!!" I grabbed her and pulled her back down beside me and said "No way, you're going with us!" It was dark outside and a t-storm had just blown through and there we were. Talk about TWILITE ZONE!! We had to buy the picture because we thought no one would believe us! It was the scariest time I ever rode it!

I went on one time, years ago when they only had 2 drops. My 4 y.o. son kept saying he wanted to go on the "high tower" so dh agreed to take him on Friday. We thought for sure he'd be bawling his eyes out by the time it was over. He loved it, but wasn't it a hurry to get back on. LOL
