Just got back from the world on Sunday night. It was a tough drive from Detroit, but made it home safely. The weather was around 80 degrees every day except the day we arrived. Since it was so nice we only spent about 5 hours a day in the parks as we either layed by the pool or went to Blizzard Beach. We ate at WCC, 1900 Park Fair, Yak @ Yeti, Mayan Grill, Le Cellier, Chefs de France and after all the years of visiting, we finally did the Hoop De Doo revue. Le Cellier was great as usual but we will revisit Mayan Grill and Chefs De France next visit. They were that good.
We stayed at the VWL and it is so beautiful at Christmas time. I am an early riser so I would always fill up my mug with coffee in the morning, grab a paper and go to the fireplace on the fifth floor, read the paper and sit and absorb the atmosphere for 90 minutes every morning. I fell in love with this resort on my first visit in 1994 and I never tire of it. Every visit is special. The only thing that was inconvenient was that the hot tub at the villa pool was broken during our stay. No big deal though.
We rented the Sea racers for 45 minutes and this was more than enough time to explore the lake in the area. We went to MVMCP on the 16'th and had a nice time. It felt different attending the party in shorts and golf shirt as in the other years it was always very cool/cold in the December evenings when we attended it.
After three different visits during the year of a million celebrations, we finally saw the dream squad. They gave preferred seating to a family for Nemo at AK.
This was the first time that I saw Disney advertising articles in their stores on sale. Christmas decorations and other items were at 40% off. I talked to a sales clerk and she told me that Disney was eager to sell the Christmas stuff and eliminate as much of the inventory as possible.
A special THANK YOU to Cdnmommy for setting us up and doing all the leg work for the photopass. Our picture turned out great and this will save us a lot of money.
The Candlelight Processional was again the highlight of the trip, as I love Christmas time, but I missed the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Epcot as they cancelled the old character ceremony and now just announce it over the P.A..
Since my wife does not share the same passion for Disney as I do, this will probally be our last trip there for the next 2 years. Hopefully the children and their spouses can get holidays from work over Christmas and we can enjoy the holidays at WDW as a family like we did years back. I would like to wish all the Canadian friends on the Dis boards a blessed Christmas and happy New Year. Cheers!
