My family and I stayed at the Cypress Pointe Resort from 7/21 to 7/28. The lineup included me, my wife and my two kids, 4 and 1 y.o. We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite, which was nice since the little guy is somewhat of a noisy sleeper. We stayed at this resort two years ago as well. Here are a few observations about our stay.

First, traffic has gotten noticeably worse since our stay 2 years ago. Cypress Pointe is close to the World, just off I-4 and north on Apopka-Vineland Rd. A couple of those days, it took half an hour to get to I-4. It could have been some bizarre traffic incidents, but it definitely seemed more congested overall. All in all, it was not a big deal, just a bit annoying.

The last time we visited Cypress Pointe, it had just been refurbished. It still looks good. However, some stuff was starting to show wear. My kids had dirty feet after walking around the unit on the first night, so the carpets are starting to get a bit gross. Generally speaking, it is clean. We made use of the kitchen and the washer/dryer, which is a big plus. The unit also had more of a mildew smell than the first time we visited. My daughters allergies went bananas, so if you've got allergies, I suggest you pack your allergy meds.

The beds are okay, but the pillows are horrible. My pillow reminded me of a sack of potatoes. Fortunately, I can sleep under any conditions. My wife, however, brought her own pillow.

We already knew this, but for those that don't: the Cypress Pointe Resort does not have elevators, and two of the bathrooms in the 3 bedroom unit do not have doors for the toilets. We were on the second floor, so the stairs were not bad. (Each building has 3 floors.) Take that into consideration. The Cypress Pointe Grandevillas do have elevators and doors to the bathrooms (I think).

All in all, if you can find a good rate, this resort should rate high on the value scale for amenities, location, and general cleanliness.

Thanks for the report, hope you had a great holiday.

Pillows packed after reading this in a previous report, also you are not the first to say about the carpets (don`t they clean them!!!)

Are there any other ways / roads to the theme parks than the I-4?

We go on the 11th so not long now.

I have heard you can go down Turkey Lake Road as well (to get to Sea World and Universal)

I haven't tried it, but I have looked at a map.

A lot depends on whether they have Lake Avenue open or not (they've been doing some construction off and on). If Lake Avenue is open (it's the road that runs along the back of the property) you can turn right on Lake and go to Palm Parkway. Turn left on Palm Parkway (which becomes Turkey Lake Road). To get to SW, turn right on to Central Florida Parkway. To go to Universal, continue on Turkey Lake until you see the Universal entrance signs on the right (just before IOA). To get to Disney, if traffic is backing up on Apopka Vineland, you can also take Lake Ave. to Palm Parkway and turn right. When you get to the Apopka Vineland traffic light, go straight through it instead of turning. You will drive about two miles, passing under a pedestrian overpass, and you will see some warehouses to the left and two traffic lights. These are Disney warehouses. Turn left at the first light. Once you pass the warehouses, you will see signs directing you to all the guest areas on Disney property. You'll be coming in to the property just north of SSR and DTD, and will pass through the same intersection with Hotel Plaza Blvd. as you would if you had turned in off of Apopka Vineland Road (but with a lot less hassle).

If you need to get to I-4 for other reasons, and the traffic is an absolute gridlock on Apopka Vineland, you would need to either go all the way up Turkey Lake Road to Sand Lake Road (recommended if heading east on I-4 from Sand Lake) or you can enter Disney property and exit on to I-4 at the SR536 entrance to go west (otherwise known as Epcot Center Blvd.).

As far as getting to Disney Parks and other parks, fla4fun has given you all the options. We did go the back way one day to get to a dinner reservation at the Wilderness Lodge. We left Cypress Pointe, turning left on Apopka-Vineland Rd, then turned right at the next light (this is 535, also known as Winter Garden-Vineland Rd). You'll pass by the Grand Cypress Gold Course and a pedestrian overpass. Turn left on Vista Blvd (there's a softball field right there). Take Vista Blvd all the way (you'll pass Eagle Pines Golf Course and Fort Wilderness Campgrounds). You come out just past the Magic Kingdom Parking toll plaza.

One a few occasions, I did go right on Apopka-Vineland Rd all the way (about 4 miles) to Sand Lake Rd. Make a right on w. Sand Lake Rd. About a quarter mile on your right you'll find a Publix and a Starbucks (yes, I'm a coffee lover/abuser:coffee: ). There also a Winn Dixie just behind the Cypress Pointe Resort on Lake St and, more importantly:thumbsup2 , an ABC liquor store.
