Once again the DISers have provided fantastic information and suggestions. We picked CP because of the reviews on this board and are so glad we did! Overall we loved it there and could not believe the great price we got ($76 /night) and the great location. If you don't know, it is right across the street from the entrance to WDW and Downtown Disney. We went to Sea World the back way (thanks, Front Desk Guy) and were there in about 2 minutes, no traffic, no freeway.

The first night, for one night only, we stayed in the Grand Villas in a one bedroom. This was not the studio, but it felt like a studio to me. We did not really like the design. The bedroom is between the bathroom and kitchen / living so one has to walk through the bedroom to get anywhere. The kitchen here was an effeciency and very small. When the sofa bed was open, there was no room to move about the kitchen / living room and you almost could not get in and out of the front door. The whole unit was clean and in good condition and we still felt it was a deal. I think this unit would be ok for a couple of married people, but not more. If you have to use the sofa bed, it really isn't big enough and the kids could not get to sleep while we were still awake.

The next day we moved to Cypress Point ("phase 1") into a 2 bedroom. We wanted this all along, but it was not available the first night. We LOVED this unit. It was huge and gorgeous! It really felt luxurious. We could NOT believe we got it all for $76 / night. The master bedroom was quite large as was the master bath. Great double vanity and seaparate glass shower and jacuzzi tub. (Yes, we agree with previous DISers that there should be a door to the toilet. When we needed privacy we just used the second bathroom.) The living room was large and airy and tastefully decorated. We had floor to ceiling windows (sliding glass) on two walls and loved the wonderful breeze. Don't worry, there are heavy drapes for privacy. Great screened porch which fit all four of us nicely. Full kitchen, new appliances, everything we needed.

I do not agree that the second bedroom was too small. We had two boys in there, used the trundle and there was plenty of room left over. We loved all the space. The kids could sleep while we were still up.

The grounds were nice enough. No complaints there. The service is not so great. There didn't seem to be much help when we needed it, but it was ok. Pools were lovely. We played ping pong and pool in the game room which was tasteful enough to read a magazine in while the kids played. Overall, we were very pleased and would choose it again.

The CP and CPGV are right together and share grounds.

Any questions?

Thanks for the review! I just booked CP 2br today and wondered about the 2nd br since another poster said it has a trundle bed and on hotel kingdom it says 2 twin beds. My kids are young enough that will be fine, but I would have been a little surprised by this if I hadn't read it here first before I got there! Glad you enjoyed your trip!

Now I really am excited!!!!! Thanks for the information!! So come on April  :cool1:  :cool1:

Thanks so much for that great review, JJSMama! I will be at CP in 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom.!! yayyy! Seems like everyone is talking about this place now! Someone asked this is another post, and I am hoping you can answer. When the trundle beds are pulled out, do they lay next to each other (in essence, making a King bed), or is there room inbetween them?
Glad you had a nice stay!

Glad to hear you liked it too :). We really enjoyed it there and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

I actually don't know. We pullled ours out and it lay on the floor--so one was higher than the other, like stair steps. (My kids LOVED it-think Bunk beds.) If we had pulled farther, would it have popped up and made a king bed? I don't know, but I don't think so. Both were comfortable though. Much more comfortable than the sofa bed at CPGV.

How do you tell the difference between the Grand Villas and phase one? On hotelkingdom, I find Cypress Pointe Grand Villas and Cypress Pointe. Is the latter the "phase one?" Is one really bettter/different than the other? Thanks!

They are basically the same. I can only compare the two units we were in. We definitely liked unit at Cypress Point better. Grand Villas are supposed to be nicer, but Cypress Point was just renovated....

There is a little more grassy area around Grand Villas, but as I said before, they are connected and you can use both sides.

we're hoping to book here for our trip in either Sept. or Nov.

My boys will be 7.5 and 3 at that time. The little one is currently still in the crib and I don't know if he'll be out by that time. I guess if it's a trundle, he would be safer on the one that stays low to the ground, but what happens if I need a crib? Is there enough room in that 2nd bdrm for a crib to be added if you leave the trundle under the bed?

We're thinking of booking the 3 bdrm just so he has a room of his own and probably go w/ a 2 bdrm next year when he's a bit older.

Any thoughts?

I have a few questions, please.

1) If I understand correctly, there is no resort fee. Is this right?

2) Does the pool have a slide?

3) Do they have equipment for the tennis courts? If so, is there a charge for that?

4) Can you request bottom floor, since CP is 3 stories tall with no elevator?

5) Will the trundle bed work for a 16 and 17 year old?

Thanks!

I don't know about a full crib, but a pack n play would fit in the second room with one twin bed in use. Yes, he could use the low trundle as it sits right on the floor, so if he rolled off, no big deal. Or you could get the 3 bedroom. I never saw one of these.

Yes, the volcano pool has a slide.
I don't know if they have tennis equipment for rent. We used the ping pong equip. for free and there is a charge for the putters and balls for mini-golf. The basketballs are free too. You'd have to call and ask.

Yes, you can request a certain floor. Second floor was no trouble for us even with all our stuff. Plus, I liked the extra privacy since I kept the windows open.

If your 16 and 17 yr olds can fir in twin beds, they can fit in these. They are two separate twin beds. SHould be fine.

Thanks! My daughter is tall and slim and currently sleeps on a daybed, so the bed should be fine for her. Her friend is only slightly heavyset and pretty short, so I think she'll be fine too.

I'm glad to hear about the slide. They'll like that, and since I can currently get a $72 rate for the middle of June, I think I'm going to go ahead and book it today.

Thanks for your help!

I'm glad you had a great time!

We were at Cypress Pointe (Phase I) 2/19-2/27 in a 3-bedroom villa, and were VERY PLEASED with the accomodations. We never made it over to the Phase II side (we weren't at the resort much!), but the kids loved the volcano pool and the "hot pool" as my 4 year old called the hot tub! They also enjoyed the beach volleyball court, although my littlest one just thought it was a big sandbox!

The service was not overly friendly, but when we needed something (a drip in the Master Bedroom shower fixed, and new linens after my 13yo daughter threw up :sad2: ) we were taken care of right away.

I recommend the 3 bedroom highly. We have 4 kids, and put the younger two girls (4 & 6) in the small bedroom, my son (10) on the sofabed, and give my 13 year old daughter the studio lock-off. She felt like a princess with all that room!

The kitchen was great, we had everything we needed (although the garbage disposal sounded like a jet plane taking off!). However, they only provide enough dishwasher & laundry detergent for 1 load, so if you plan on actually using the kitchen and laundry (which we did), bring your own.

We were on the first floor, and even without elevators I would have preferred to be on the 2nd or 3rd. We couldn't really use our porch, since it looked right out at the parking lot, and we got more hallway noise than I think we would have on a higher floor. However, we never heard anything from the people above or next to us.

All in all, the space and location at that price were unbeatable! However, I think that this will be our last off-site stay - I missed the convenience of Disney transportation and Disney magic.

But given that it was a choice between this location, and no trip this year, we were very happy.

I would also be happy to answer people's questions.

The Volcano Pool on the Cypress Pointe side has three small slides. You mentioned you had a 16 and 17 y/o. The slides are too small for teenagers. Here's a photo of the slides at the pool:

The slides were great for my 11 y/o but my 15 year old wasn't impressed. He liked the place overall, however--especially the big screen TV!

Figment22 - thanks for the pic! I always thought the slide would be in the volcano...

Thanks for the pictures of the slides. That definitely wasn't what I had in mind. I may rethink my choice. Since we aren't renting a house with a private pool (which we usually do), I would like for the pool area to be really nice if possible. This is my daughter's "senior trip" (you might say), and I'd like the girls to be thrilled with the accomodations if possible. I do like the proximity to Downtown Disney though, so that's a major plus for this property.

I am planning a trip to CP in September. Is there a grocery store nearby? Are there any restaurants in the area?

There is a small convenience store on property. Winn-Dixie supermarket is within walking distance.

Restaurants: Giordano's, Olive Garden and Steak and Shake are within close walking distance. There are loads of restaurants a short drive away, say within a mile.
