Just back! Crowded and no Express for Shrek!

We stayed at PBH and were allowed FOTL at Shrek on both Tuesday and Wednesday of past week. However on resort boat ride home we met a family that had been refused after showing room key on both days. Crazy!

We just got back and my boys went to Shrek and saw it no problem with our FOTL priviledges from HRH.:D

Well. since I started this (mess) thread, It seems I could say that it depends on who's working the lines as to whether they will honor room key FOTL to Shrek.

So the strategy for those with room keys would be to either come back to Shrek when the workers change, or go into the standard line upon park opening when the wait was 30 minutes or less. I quess a third strategy would be to find a park supervisor and get the final word on the situation.

They let us in Mon., Tues. and Weds. The hotel express attendant is located right in front of the entrance. The queue is to the left on the side of the building where you take pictures with Shrek.

OK today, when I was leaving the park at 7:00 PM (Saturday) I walked by Shrek and saw two lines, the regular line and the FOTL queue for hotel guests. The regular line, even at closing was the length of the building, and there were 6 people in the hotel FOTL queue. So it is there and being used. All I can think of is that sometimes attractions use "rescues." These are like substitute teachers in the public schools. My son, who works at the Mummy, has been a rescue before at both MIB and Shrek.

Maybe the rescues didn't know. Surely the regular workers know that onsite Hotel guests get FOTL at Shrek.

My suggestion: if you are staying onsite and the greeter out front tells you they don't have FOTL, is to ask to speak to a "Lead."

Thanks Phantom, "Lead" was the word I was looking for to describe a supervisor.

Again, Shrek was only a minor glitch in what was a great Universal Vacation:teeth:

With your hotel room key you get automatic fast entrance to the rides and SHrek. The line is marked Express for most rides and Shrek you just have to ask them where to go with your room card and you get let in.

I went on Shrek atleast once a day last week from Sunday 27th-thursday 1st. Each time the normal queue was around 75-90 minutes and I used the express line everytime (stayed at PBH).

So yeh, it's working, even when it's busy. Sorry to hear you got the wrong end of the stick

Just got back and used FOTL on Shrek also. We did have to ask and were instructed to go to the line that was forming around the side of the building. It only took about 15 - 20 minutes. Express worked fine.

Hi

On our last visit (last year) they had the standard express passes from the machine - although there were none left for us!!

Am I right that there is no longer any Express passes for Shrek - only FOTL for onsite guests?

If so, why did this happen?

Will it be the same for the new Mummy Ride?

Thanks

Maxine

We just got back from Universal yesterday, and yes they still have express passes and we got in to Shrek with an express pass. Without a pass the wait time was anywhere from 60 to 70 min. :wave2:

They did not have express pass for Shrek 7/27, 28, and 29. We were able to use the FOTL. The wait was 75-120 minutes when we were there.

Hi

It seems a bit hit and miss!

Do you think that US withdraw the 'standard' Express Pass during periods when the park is very busy?

Maxine

It could be hit and miss. I was surprised that the park wasn't really that busy being it was the holiday weekend. :charac4:

we just came back from RPR on friday and we just asked for the separate line for onsite guests and they directed us to the separate line. the first time we waited 15-20 minutes and were allowed to enter before the regular line. the other time we waited only 5 minutes and were let right in. i was told at the resort to just ask at every ride even if i didn't see a sign. i was glad i did as the kids would have been disappointed because there was no we rode that wouldn't let us in with FOTL was Nickelodeon.

sorry...it wouldn't let me edit. i meant to say that there was no way that we were waiting in the 75 minute line and the only ride that we rode that wouldn't let us use FOTL was Nickelodeon.

We went in June and we bought the express plus passes. It specifically ststed on the pass that it was not good for Shrek. What I understand is that it was a 2 week trial thing. Needless to say my DD5 was miserable but would not wait 2 hours in the heat so we did not see Shrek which was the one thing we really wanted to see. Luckily enough she did get to meet Shrek and it worked out. My luck the 2 week test is during our 1st visit to US. Oh well will have to go back. :D
