Just back: CM says DVC at Contemporary as a done deal

I'm going to link tjkraz's website, because he also has a great article and blowup of a villa from those documents. It really shows what that villa will look like. :thumbsup2

DVCnews article on CRV floor plan

With both sketches, 295 rooms make sense, along with the rooms needing to be a regular pattern due to the curviture of the building.

We were there in January over MLK weekend. I asked a CM at the DVC desk about the new construction and how I heard that they are not allowed to talk about it. But I would ask him anyway if he could tell me if it was going to be a DVC, and they winked then proceeded to nodded yes while they reiterated some statement about how they are not allowed to discuss anything to do with plans to make that building a DVC or not . I then followed up with my other concern that if said building was a DVC resort would it be a small portion of the building like in California or a larger part. The reply was a large portion.

While at a resort in December they didn't tell us but the more questions we asked they just shook their head a nodded yes....so we left thinking it was a done deal then.;)

Wow, isn't the internet great? These layouts are fantastic. Disney must have been hating life to have these things pop up all over boards before an announcement! LOL

;)

Can't wait! Katherine

na - i think they love it - build up excitement and anticipation for the final word then they can sell points like mad.

already a few people have said they'll add on the minute it's announced. while others have said they'll wait until the summer or fall to see if they make the announcement.

leak a few rumors, just enough to get the ball rolling and let the message boards take over - free press for them.

So the CMs are now winking and nodding. :lmao: They're probably tired of hearing the same questions over and over again.

Wow, this seems awfully harsh. Like I said, this person was certainly in a position to know.

Don't take it personally, but unless this person is an executive in the DVC corporation, they don't know. It's a legal thing.

Funny, I was walking through the concours at the CR about 3 weeks ago when the two guys at the DVC desk saw my hat the said "Welcome Home". So I stopped to chat and told them I was there to check out the new DVC tower. They just smiled and one said "What building? Is there a new building here?".

wow you haven't figured out that sometimes on this board it is easy to make yourself feel better by taking it out on others unfairly;)

Yes it will over look the parking lot, just like the MK view at CR does... I was less than impressed with the MK view from the CR Tower and felt it was more like a parking lot view with the MK off in the distance.

IF and a big IF we stay at the CRV we will be requesting a bay lake view.

DH and I spent our first vacation as a married couple at CR. It cost us $50 a night and it was a huge splurge for us. Back in 1972, the Bay Lake view was $5 more since it was considered the preferred view ($55). So we took the cheaper 'standard' view (now MK view) which I believe WAS called the parking lot/garden view in those days.

My, how things change :lmao: It is all in the marketing.

BTW, a few years later when we had more disposable income we did get our 'up high, lake view' room and it became our favorite until the kiddos came. Then we stayed in North Garden Wing with the old kiddie pool, Mouseketeer Club and the playground. :sad1: memories....

We rode up front with the monorail driver (very cool) last month and when we asked about the CR being DVC the driver said that they were not allowed to talk about it and could be fired if they did.

I personally love the idea of CRV and if and when annouced will do a small add on. Depending on the points needed for an MK view, I would buy enough to stay every 2 or 3 years with banking and borrowing. My heart is still with the Epcot resort area, but I appreciate what the CRV has to offer. CR may be my favorite resort outside of the Epcot area. Though I admit I haven't tried them all.

As for CM's in the know. In September 2006 I was at MGM and stopped by the booth as I was still in the should I or shouldn't I buy stage. I point blank asked about CRV and was told yes that was the next DVC resort. Next thing I knew AKV was annouced. So anything a CM says take with a grain of salt. But that's just my experience.

For those asking for MK views pics, I stayed on the 10th floor September, 2006.

does anyone have pics from the balcony's of CR of the MK view?

it's not what i thought it was and certainly if that's going to be a dvc it's a worse view

the only plus it looks like it will have is being on the monorail

Someone took this earlier, hope its OK to post. Obviously it is zoomed in and high floor, but gives an idea of what to expect.

We just got back from VWL yesterday. We took the boat to the Contemporary a couple of times. Everytime someone asked what the new building was....Responses went from..."They haven't told us yet." to "We're not important enough to be told." (These were the boat captains.) I never asked, just sat back and smiled. I did look closely to see if I could pick-out different size rooms (ie--studios vs. 2-bedrooms) and that was pretty obvious. Now of course, they could be something else!

It has tons of sentimental value to many people- self included.

it is on the monrail and you can walk to the MK.

rsinj: Again - so? Lots of people make such a big deal out of this. However, the fact is that you will be able to walk the few hundred yards to MK faster than the monorail will get you there. If you want to go to MK by monorail, you have to go all the way around, as CR is the first stop. When coming back from the park at the end of the day, though it is the first stop, you will be waiting on line for longer than it takes you to get there on the monorail or by foot.
I am not sure how you can argue that this is not a great (if not the best) location in regards to MK proximity. and you know what they say about location in the real estate business.

plus the view of the fireworks....

rsinj: Most rooms are not going to have a view of the fireworks.
Yes, but you can watch WISHES from your resort if not from your room. That is a plus.
