DH and I returned last night from a quick 4-day trip. We had a great time! It was the perfect length trip for us - we got to do everything we really wanted to do, and skipped some pre-planned activities when we just didn't feel like rushing all over the place.

Thursday afternoon at MK:
Arrived just in time to jump into our FP+ spot for FoF parade, about 3:15. It was HOT HOT HOT in the sun! We lucked out and moved into one of the very few shady spots when someone else abandoned it to get a street-side view. I love this parade! Then headed to 7DMT (FP+). Crowds seemed low to us, particularly for this time of year. Ducked into Fantasmic, just to get out of the heat. Decided to bail on our last FP+ and headed to Mizner's, followed by dinner at Narcoossee's. Yummy! They now have the butter poached lobster on the entree menu; you get two, and I loved 'em both! Finished the evening at TotWL to see Wishes. It was a very lovely birthday for me. :thumbsup2

Friday:
Spent the morning and early afternoon at CSR at the pool. We had brought a bottle of rum with us; ordered virgin strawberry daquiris and pina coladas, then spiked them ourselves. Great way to save a few bucks! Headed into AK around 4 pm. Have I mentioned it was HOT?!? We had planned on doing some of the new outdoor entertainment in Harambe, but just couldn't face the heat. So we headed to Nomad Lounge. Best spontaneous decision of the weekend! That place is wonderful! Had a couple cocktails and the bread service while sitting in a non-crowded, air conditioned, superbly themed bar. Doesn't get much better than that!! Then went to Tiffins - which was a disappointment. There were a couple of strong misses in that meal. My "flame charred" prawns were burned; the shells crumbled in my fingers. And the mustard greens that came with DH's lamb had so much vinegar in them, it overwhelmed the palate. Service was also slow - in a half-empty restaurant. They've got some problems to fix there.
Night time at AK is great! Especially EE!!! I enjoyed that more than I have enjoyed any other coaster in years! (I tend to get motion sick on coasters, but something about riding EE at night - no issues at all! It was AWESOME!)
Again, low crowds all evening. We skipped the Jungle Book show, were just too tired!

Saturday:
All day at DHS, with a midday break. At RD, I headed to TSMM and rode 2x in less than 30 minutes. DH rode RnR, then ToT twice, then met me at TSMM and we rode it together. All this before 10 am! (9 am opening) Saw the Star Wars montage movie (air conditioned!!), then did Star Tours and shopped a bit. Lunch at Sci Fi was good, then took our break. Came back at about 4 pm, rode TSMM again with FP+, then early dinner at HBD. This was probably my favorite meal; their black grouper dish is my favorite entree on property. And they have a Silver Peach Martini that I adore. After dinner, the Frozen Sing Along. That was great! The historians are hysterical! Go see this show! If you are sick of Frozen, you really need to go see this show! They poke fun at it hilariously! Star Tours again, then a bit of shopping, then Star Wars dessert party and wandering around Launch Bay. Followed by the new Star Wars show. I have to say, I liked the new show a lot, but I prefer the previous Star Wars fireworks.

Sunday:
Pool time, followed by lunch at Las Ventanas prior to catching DME back to MCO.

Overall, it was a great trip, and a great redemption to our failed Easter trip. And a great last use of my AP! Feel free to ask any questions.

Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing! I need to remember for our upcoming trip that it's OK to skip pre-planned activities if we're tired or just change our mind! I'm still not sure about JB show...

happy late birthday, glad you had a great trip!
why no epcot? :confused3

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Epcot was planned for Sunday morning. We actually had a PPO at Akershus, to hit FEA at opening, then Soarin' with FP+. But after a very full Saturday, we just ran out of gas. We're DVC members, and know we'll be back. Many times. So sleeping in sounded better than FEA and Soarin'.:faint: Especially after the drinks at the pool, drinks at HBD, drinks at SW party. . .:drinking1Yes, it was a very adult vacation!

Am I the only one that thinks it is AWESOME that you guys split up briefly at HS to each do your own thing for an hour?

Also the bottle of rum is brilliant!!!

Welcome home! I love your enthusiasm! And bringing a bottle of rum for resort pool bar drinks is genius. I'm totally stealing that idea. :beach:

Two questions:

1. TotWL = Top of the World Lounge? In BLT, correct?
2. Las Ventanas? A new place at CSR?

TIA. :)

Are the SW fireworks gone??? Or does the need show include fireworks? I love the SW fireworks and would have a sad if they are gone!!! Sounds like such a fun trip!!

Reading your post, there is definitely something to be said for not trying to pack in every ride and show, isn't there? Doing things at your own pace, enjoying some great meals and some pool time sounds fabulous. So fabulous that my credit card is screaming from inside my purse for me to pull it out and book something for 2017. I blame you.:rotfl:

Sounds like a great "short " trip. Although I love our family trips, I also love the trips with just DH! It is less stressful when you don't HAVE to do all you originally planned.

Yes and yes. We enjoyed them both!

What kind of rum did you bring?
Bacardi gold. In a plastic bottle.:thumbsup2

Sounds fun. Sounds like it was a do-over trip?
I love short trips, they can be super fun.
Yep. Easter trip with the DGKs was a bit of a disaster. DGD is a princess, and I don't mean the best kind. :rolleyes1 And everyone except me got sick - as in, several days in bed sick. Thank God we were in a villa! If we hadn't had a bedroom and a kitchen, I would have gone crazy!

Great report! Is there still an FP+ for FoF?
Yes. Gather under the flag right at the entrance. In the full sun. Great when it's cold; not so good when it's 95F.

Show includes fireworks. They're good - just not as good (to me) as the previous show, which was all fireworks, choreographed to John Williams score montage. I LOVE fireworks; combine those with excellent music, and that's practically unbeatable to me!

I'll take that blame - think I can stand up under it!:lmao:

The virgin drinks were $7, $8.26 with tip; the same with alcohol, about $12 or $14.16 with tip. So about $6 saved per drink. I'm also fairly certain my drinks were a tad more potent than the bar tenders would have made. :goodvibes Only wish I could do the same in the parks. . .

I confess that I've done this at Blizzard Beach. Don't tell anyone.
