DH and I returned last night from a quick 4-day trip. We had a great time! It was the perfect length trip for us - we got to do everything we really wanted to do, and skipped some pre-planned activities when we just didn't feel like rushing all over the place.
Thursday afternoon at MK:
Arrived just in time to jump into our FP+ spot for FoF parade, about 3:15. It was HOT HOT HOT in the sun! We lucked out and moved into one of the very few shady spots when someone else abandoned it to get a street-side view. I love this parade! Then headed to 7DMT (FP+). Crowds seemed low to us, particularly for this time of year. Ducked into Fantasmic, just to get out of the heat. Decided to bail on our last FP+ and headed to Mizner's, followed by dinner at Narcoossee's. Yummy! They now have the butter poached lobster on the entree menu; you get two, and I loved 'em both! Finished the evening at TotWL to see Wishes. It was a very lovely birthday for me.
Friday:
Spent the morning and early afternoon at CSR at the pool. We had brought a bottle of rum with us; ordered virgin strawberry daquiris and pina coladas, then spiked them ourselves. Great way to save a few bucks! Headed into AK around 4 pm. Have I mentioned it was HOT?!? We had planned on doing some of the new outdoor entertainment in Harambe, but just couldn't face the heat. So we headed to Nomad Lounge. Best spontaneous decision of the weekend! That place is wonderful! Had a couple cocktails and the bread service while sitting in a non-crowded, air conditioned, superbly themed bar. Doesn't get much better than that!! Then went to Tiffins - which was a disappointment. There were a couple of strong misses in that meal. My "flame charred" prawns were burned; the shells crumbled in my fingers. And the mustard greens that came with DH's lamb had so much vinegar in them, it overwhelmed the palate. Service was also slow - in a half-empty restaurant. They've got some problems to fix there.
Night time at AK is great! Especially EE!!! I enjoyed that more than I have enjoyed any other coaster in years! (I tend to get motion sick on coasters, but something about riding EE at night - no issues at all! It was AWESOME!)
Again, low crowds all evening. We skipped the Jungle Book show, were just too tired!
Saturday:
All day at DHS, with a midday break. At RD, I headed to TSMM and rode 2x in less than 30 minutes. DH rode RnR, then ToT twice, then met me at TSMM and we rode it together. All this before 10 am! (9 am opening) Saw the Star Wars montage movie (air conditioned!!), then did Star Tours and shopped a bit. Lunch at Sci Fi was good, then took our break. Came back at about 4 pm, rode TSMM again with FP+, then early dinner at HBD. This was probably my favorite meal; their black grouper dish is my favorite entree on property. And they have a Silver Peach Martini that I adore. After dinner, the Frozen Sing Along. That was great! The historians are hysterical! Go see this show! If you are sick of Frozen, you really need to go see this show! They poke fun at it hilariously! Star Tours again, then a bit of shopping, then Star Wars dessert party and wandering around Launch Bay. Followed by the new Star Wars show. I have to say, I liked the new show a lot, but I prefer the previous Star Wars fireworks.
Sunday:
Pool time, followed by lunch at Las Ventanas prior to catching DME back to MCO.
Overall, it was a great trip, and a great redemption to our failed Easter trip. And a great last use of my AP! Feel free to ask any questions.
