Hi,
Just got back from a great trip, 8/6-10. Before I left, I had read some posts about avoiding extra evening hours and going to that park the next day. Wow! What a great tip! We got on so many rides at MK and the parade/fireworks were totally manageble. My friend who had also gone in June couldn't believe the difference in crowd levels using this strategy.

To confirm this great tip....on the next extra evening hours at MK, we went into the park to buy some stuff and it was a madhouse. The line through security was bad, the line in the gate was bad, there were so so many people. And this was around 2pm. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

We decided to avoid extra morning hours because we assumed this also created crowds. But we have no proof.

We also decided that rain is our friend. The temp was so much nicer during and after a nice long rain. It may have helped thin crowds but not sure.

To those of you going soon, have a great trip! WDW is the best!

Welcome back. Glad you had a great trip. We were there end of June and had a great time ourselves. Only problem is we want to go back. We are planning for next year. :goodvibes

Glad it worked for you! There are a bunch of us who have been advising this since the new ticket structure and EMH evenings kicked in. We're locals and we use the same plan whenver we head over to the parks. Glad you had fun!

Okay just to confirm what you are saying:

If MK has a late EMH, then your advice is to go to Mk on the following morning, right. Haven't really kept up on this and we are gong in December and we are expecting large crowds, so any proven stragety will be greatly welcomed.

Thanks!

Glad you had fun!
My only suggestion would be to try emh mornings they are usaully a lot less crowded because no one wants to get up!

We had no problems with MK evening EMH (we were there 8/3-8/8...MK EMH was 8/5)...in fact, it was awesome!

We also followed this strategy in July. It was great! We experienced so few lines and wait times that we're going back next July, too. Yeah, we had heat, but apparently it was hotter here in New York while we were in WDW. Glad you had a great time! :sunny:

Shoot!! Wish I had heard of this strategy before!! I can't change my plans now due to reservations for certain character meals! Oh boy -- i hope we're not there on a EMH day! Oh No!!

Thanks for the warning!! I'm off to see if we're in for the crowds and the chaos!!

We were there 7/30-8/8 and did all the evening EMHs and did NOT have a problem. We did not do morning EMH. We have been to WDW 5 times in 5 years and while this was the most crowded, we did everything we wanted to do. We utilized fast pass (even during EMH) and had to wait the most 20 minutes for Soarin. That was when the park opened. I didn't find the crowds too painful! Sunday at MK 8/7 was eerily quiet!

yup....we did this too when we were there 2 weeks ago...

we tested it only once just to see and yes indeed, the crowds were totally unbearable on the day we went to AK when it had evening EMH....
on the other day we went there it was fine...
and to every other park we went on the morning after the evening EMH....perfect.....the mornings were practically deserted in comparison to normal july crowds....

We will be at MK on October 19 which is a EMH evening day. I will be avoiding the EMH evening days for the other parks. I really don't want to change days because we always go to MK on our first full day. I wonder if it will be as crowded in Mid-October on EMH evenings with all the MNSSHP going on? :earsboy: :earsgirl:

baileybelle,
I would think in October you should be fine. The crowds should be much less compared to August. Enjoy your trip!

This is a great tip and something I wouldn't have thought of. We're going in mid-January though, so I'm guessing crowds will be considerably smaller.

When we were there in '99, we took advantage of the early opening and it was great. My older sister was in charge of plans and I was in charge of maps. So we'd sit down the night before and map out our strategy based on what rides were open early and that everyone wanted to go on and then we'd figure the best route between rides. It worked out great!
