Just got back from 5 nights at BCV:

The new check-in area is GREAT. Never saw more than 3 people in that line the entire trip. A nice move for DVC stays.:thumbsup2

Parking passes - were issued at the security gate, when we first arrived.

StormAlong Bay (SAB) opened at 10:00 a.m. during our trip. Wristbands were required.

Did not like the location of some of the smoking areas at BCV !! Like the majority of BCV occupants walking to EPCOT, we had to walk through the smoking area to take the sidewalk around the BC to get to/from EPCOT. I don't understand the positioning of this area, or to a lesser extent, that of the smoking area beside the quiet pool. But at least the quiet pool smoking area doesn't have steady foot traffic going right through it.

Movies on the Beach - were on the schedule, and were showing, until 10/31/07. It was a weekly schedule, different movie each night, but they did not have the screen up on 11/01/07. Don't know if that is over, or if there were weather issues, but 11/01/07 (night) didn't seem like it was terribly bad weather.

I'll be happy to try and answer any other questions.

Weather was hit or miss. It started off last week very warm (with all the rain), but air temps cooled noticeably by this past weekend.

However, the water in SAB was quite nice, definitely in the mid 80's, last week.
Quiet pool at BCV and the small pool across the sidewalk from SAB were noticeably colder. Still warm enough to swim, but I would guess water temps closer to low 70's.

I would still plan to swim while there, definitely!

How was your stay overall? Did you notice the difference in the linens?

We've usually received our parking pass at security but not always.

With regards to the smoking areas, both spots have always been places where smokers park themselves probably because there have always been ash receptacles there. My DH uses the one by the pool to enjoy a cigar while he reads in the evening. With a fan above and the fact that is is removed from the pool, whirlpool and most of the seating, I think it's a good spot.

The one by the walkway to Epcot has always been like a gauntlet for me. I have asthma and smoke bothers me so I close my mouth tight and exhale slowly while walking that area. But it has always been like that there to my recollection. I suppose it is a reasonable place to put it so people don't toss their cigarette butts around.

I agree the BCV checkin was a great idea!

Overall, the stay was very enjoyable. I thought both the sleeper couch and the linens were nicer than they have been on past visits (especially the sleeper couch).

The parking pass has always been given to us previously at the check-in desk, so getting it at the security gate was different. Maybe this will be a new process, in the future.

When I first saw the map of smoking areas, I thought that the EPCOT walkway location was very out of place. The other areas made some sense in their own way, but that walkway is a central traffic area for not only going to EPCOT, but also getting from the villas to the Marketplace. If WDW is going to direct people smoke in only certain areas anyway, they could find another place that non-smokers don't have to walk through. Like you do, we held our breath, or exhaled and walked through.

If I get a survey for this trip, the only complaint I have would be about that one location. Pretty much everything else this trip was very good.

Last time I was at BCV was Dec. 2005. We're now thinking BCV Dec. 2008 (taking a break from DCL!). So is there now a BCV ONLY check-in???

Yes. The 'lobby' area of BCV (by the Aeriel statue), is for BCV check-in.
There is a sign in the main lobby of BC (right inside as you come in the doors from the vehicle circle), directing those staying at BCV to check-in over there.

It isn't very big, just enough room for 2 people behind the small counter, but it is much less crowded than the BC main lobby. Very nice.

Thanks for the report. And I appreciate the warning about the movies. I enjoyed the movies in September (saw "Finding Nemo") and I was really looking forward to seeing them again in December. Did you eat at all at BC Marketplace? If so, what did you have and how was it?

One more question about the new check in. Is that for all BCV goers or just if you are checking in DVC. Is this what used to be the DVC desk? and can they print out your ADRs and Dinner show tickets or do you need to go back over to the Concierge desk? Any help would be great as we a 30 days away! :yay:

I read somewhere that the BCV check-in did not open until 8 a.m. Do you know if this is true? I plan on arriving before 8 a.m. and want to know if I will need to go to BC to check-in.

Also, have read that BCV check-in can get backed up because it is smaller. If you want, can you check-in at BC, even if BCV is open?
