We also just got back. Were supposed to leave on Wednesday (8/30), but Ernesto freaked out Southwest so bad that they cancelled ALL FLIGHTS to/from Orlando for the day!! Of course we didn't think to call, because the weather didn't look that bad and the weather channel said MCO was operating normally (yeah, all the other NORMAL airlines), so we didn't discover this until we arrived at the airport and saw the sign with the 800 number. Yeah - Southwest also was too chicken to have actual reps manning the gates. But hey, no big deal - called and rebooked (earliest flight we could get was Friday), called the Wilderness Lodge and got another roon for two nights, got a new rental car. Once back at the WL, we extended our 6 day hoppers to 8 days for only $2/person/day. How bad was that

!!!
Crowds at WDW on Wednesday 8/30 were super light. We were offered re-rides on Splash Mountain in the morning (this was before we went to the airport) and Buzz in the evening (we got off after three trips around). Spectro Magic was cancelled due to rain, but the fireworks went off. Armored with ponchos, we watched from a few feet back of the Walt statue and NO ONE WAS NEARBY! AMAZING!
Even my husband, not a Disney type of guy (he's one of those who calls WDW "the Rat"), was converted this trip. I highly recommend going when there is a tropical storm that the Weather Channel hypes endlessly. which later degrades to a tropical depression which pretty much misses the area entirely.
