Just returned from a 7 day trip to the YC for our 10th wedding anniversary and dd's 5th b-day. We had such a great time. Here are some reviews for all you foodies out there.

Cast Me, dh, dd9, dd7, dd5 Dining Plan

April 26 1900 PF Dinner
We had 4:30 ADR's and I was a little upset that even though the dining room was just about empty, we were still seated in the back room and not the big main room. I asked the hostess if it was because we were using the dining plan and she said no, everyone is using the dining plan now. So, we sat and enjoyed our meal anyway. This is a must for us every trip. Our server told us we could have smoothies and milk shakes for our drinks so I had a Berry Smoothie and the dd's had choc. milk shakes (which they said were ok). My Smoothie was great. The buffet was excellent as always. We sampled the salmon, portobello ravioli, assorted pastas, shrimp, and bread pudding with vanilla sauce (to die for!!!). Cindy, Prince, and the mice were very gracious and talked with my girls for a bit before posing for pictures.
Rating: B+ for food and service

April 27 10th Wedding Anniversary Day
Lunch at MGMRosie's All American Cafe
We chose to eat here because Beauty and the Beast was starting soon and we wanted to be close. I had the chicken tenders, water, and apple pie (yuck), dh had cheeseburger, apple juice, dorito's, dd's all had mac N' cheese, water, and choc. cake. The food here was ok but I wouldn't eat here again.

Dinner at Epcot Coral Reef
We were seating close to the tank and had many Best Wishes given to us from staff members. We were given a menu that had "Happy 10th Anniversary" written on it. That just made our day. :wizard: Our server was fantastic. He treated us like royalty. We never wanted for anything. The children were even allowed to order an appy from the main menu. I had shrimp cocktail, crab cake for my entree. Dh had lobster soup, and the chicken (I don't know why he ordered this. I think he forgot where we were.) We both chose the Chocolate Wave for dessert which he brought out on one plate with a choc. strip with Best Wishes written on it. That was a nice touch. 2 dd's had caesar salads, grilled chicken and the youngest dd had lobster soup with she loved (she's a soup girl) and mac n' cheese (she didn't like it, but we thought it was tasty. They all had the build your own sundaes. I think they spend more time making them than eating them.

We decided to go to SSR to check out the resort and try the Artist's Palette. This place is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the food just as much. I had BBQ Pork Flatbread and Hugs n' Kisses cheesecake (delicious). Dh had the chicken and artichoke flatbread. This was yummy as well, I had to take a piece. He had the same cheesecake. DD's all had mini hot dogs with a muffin for dessert. Looking forward to eating here several times in Sept.

Dinner at Epcot Alfredo's
I just have to say one thing...NEVER AGAIN!!
Our server was very rude. When he came out to greet us he made me shuffle through my stuff to show him our dining plan cards in the lobby before he would show us our table. I have never had this happen ever. It was a little embarrassing too. Then after we were seated he handed us our menu's and said "So what would your like a couple of salads?" Excuse me!!! We replied that we would decide when we look over the menu. I did talk to a manager on the way out, but now looking back at it we should have walked out right there. It was a waste of a meal. Our server was absent for most of the meal. He never checked on us. My Dh sat with an empty glass for half the meal. We had our dessert order taken by a women server and she told us we could only choose choc. mousse or the sampler which would have to be split by both dh and myself. After questioning this and telling her that in July when we were there we could choose anything on the dessert menu, I just sad bring us all mousse then. I think a manager overheard this and then she came back and said she was corrected and I was right. So we did get to choose anything we wanted from the dessert menu. I'm not going to waste time talking about our meals because it was just aweful.
Rating: C food, D- service

I'll finish the rest of the reviews tomorrow. I really need some sleep after all the eating we did this past week.

Thank You for the reviews. We love 1900 PF and will be going again in a few months. We also have an ADR with Alfredos ... my niece chose this place - I will admit the last time the service sucked big time but we enjoyed the food. Well hope the service will be better next trip.

:goodvibes HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY!!!

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks for the reviews. It was nice to hear about the special touches at Coral Reef for your anniversary celebration. :goodvibes

Thanks for the great reviews- Keep posting please!
Agree with you on Alfredo's- maybe we hit it at a bad time lots of folks love it!

Thank you for the reviews. I'm tempted to switch a ressie to CR. Did you encounter any restrictions using the CS at AP? We plan on haivng a few lunches there on the plan. TIA.

I am hearing so many people that have had terrible experiences at Alfredo's! We were there in October and I thought it was aweful. The food, the service, a complete waste of money for us. My friend is going there next week and I tried to warn her but she wouldn't listen. I can't wait to hear what she thinks. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't like it. :)

I agree about Alfredos, we went there in June for lunch. We waited 30 min for our table and when we got inside the place had about 6 tables with people. Once the server found out we did not want a multi course meal he got quite rude and pushy. No drink refills till we flaged down a different server. Food was barley warm when we got it and of course we could not find our server to correct it....way over priced.

Won't waste our time or money at this resturant again...

Bev

I love reading other people's reviews and for the specific reason that some have horrific experiences and yet others have incredible experiences..

I am thinking out loud here, I wonder if the servers at restaurants do not like the dining plan because it is free and they think they are losing out on tips....I know it is Disney, but servers live on their tips, certainly not their salaries. Are the tips included in the price of the free meal, I am asking this question as I have not reviewed what this free dining includes.

I think if Disney offers this plan than every restaurant that takes this plan should treat every guest equally, paying or on the plan. It sounds to me from your description of what happened at Italy that you were not treated correctly and it upsets me. I have reviewed this restaurant recently, we had great service, good food, and fun entertainment, definitely not what you experienced and I did not like what happened to you at all. I do have the Disney Dining Experience card and get 20% off my food, but I then just give that 20% to the waiter as a tip.

I am so glad that your other experiences were so good and I loved reading about your service at Coral Reef, kudos to them for knowing how to treat their patrons.

We did not encounter any restrictions. We just chose what we wanted and went to the counter and paid. They give you a pager for when your food is ready. That's one thing we like, everything is made fresh and it didn't take too long either. Just grab your drinks and desserts, pay, and take a seat.

It's not free dining. We paid about $700 for the dining plan. We used it in July without any problems. Everyone treated us with respect, but this time was different at Alfredo's only. Everywhere else the servers were excellent.

They do receive a tip. I think it's 18%. We noted on our first 2 meals that the server got almost a $30 tip and we will tip extra for excellent service, which we did at Coral Reef, Raglan Road, and Mama Melrose.

I think some of the servers know that they get a tip no matter what and they just don't care how they treat you. I'm saying some because we only encountered 1 server who treated us in a rude manner.

Yeah, the dining plan is far from free. I was actually surprised at the great service we recieved on the dining plan, didn't eat at Alfredo's though. I have waited tables and used to work at Medieval times, we would have pre-paid guest and the tip was included, and I know for a fact the quality of service went down during these shows. I think there should be a comment card or something that can be used to grade the servers service.

I have been on the boards here since 1999 and the unscientific trend I have seen IS a decrease in service since the inception of the DDP. Either servers are overwehlmed or don't give a dam since the tip is a done deal, just IMHO. Not all servers but soem. Granted the also got rid of table busers pretty close to the same time the DDP begun. Its unfortunate but I think it a fact. My one caveat is in Europe tip is included ALL the time and services doesn't seem to suffer.

yeah dining plan is only free with a promotion (august 13th-september 30th) and that is far and few in between. We paid $950 for it our last trip for the 5 of us (3 adults, 2 children) and it was worth it, but don't know if in reality we would have had so many sitdowns without it, so Disney made out that's for sure.

I was shocked at Alfredo's too when dh & I were there a couple of years ago, I too thought the service was poor (rude waiter, cramped seating) and food was bleck....

Glad to hear you had great other experiences! BTW, what was the dh thinking ordering chicken at Coral Reef? lol Congrats on wedding anniversary! Looking forward to reading the rest of your review!

After we watched Ill. we were a little hungry so we stopped in Electric Umbrella and I had a Whole Wheat Turkey Wrap which was outstanding. I would definitely get another one of these again in Sept. My 2 oldest dd's shared mac n' cheese and the youngest only wanted French Fries so she had some of dad's. Dh had Bacon Double Cheeseburger. He said it was good.

Dh was still in bed so dd's and I walked over to the Boardwalk Bakery for something to eat. We had a breakfast buritto and a bagel. The buritto was great. I'm not an eggs person but this was very tastey. It had scrambled eggs, cheese, and ham rolled up in a tortilla. The bagel was ok, only tried a little piece of it.

Lunch at Liberty Inn Epcot
I had the BBQ Pork Sandwich. Loved this too. Dh had another Cheeseburger. He doesn't stray far. Dd9 had chilled chicken over romaine. She loves salad and finished every bite. Dd7 and Dd 5 had chicken nuggets.
Dd's all had the Smore's for dessert. They didn't like this at all. They ate some of the marshmallows off the top and that's it. I tasted it and it was ok, but not great. Dh and I had the Strawberry Shortcake which was a lot tastier than the Smore's.

Sorry, I have to run to get dd at pre-school now. I continue later. Still to come...Raglan Road, Chef Mickey's Mama Melrose, Backlot Express, WGP Express.
Thanks for reading.

my son insists on Italian and Mama Melrose's just doesn't look appetizing. Hoping our experience is better. Will be on guard and know where the manager is at all times!!

OK my ticker still doesn't show up!!!

Wow, I am completely shocked. I am so looking forward to L'originale de Alfredo's!! We ate there in 2004 and had not only the best Italian food ever, but amazing service. I sure hope this is not a trend because I have been so psyched about eating there again. Now Mexico, ick, what an awful experience (that was last year).

Sounds like you all had a great time (with the exception of Alfredo's). and congrats on your anniversary! We will be eating at CR for the first time in Sept, and I'm torn over the choices listed on Allears. I'm going to share with DD3, who eats light and is not picky. I'm considering (for Appetizers) the salad with the chicken breast add on to give DD, or the lobster soup (I love soup and lobster, what a great combo!), or the shrimp cocktail. I'm sure DD would share any of the above, so since it seems your family has tried all of it, which do you recommend? Are any of the portions small? I love seafood, but I've heard the steak here is incredible. Were your crabcakes anything to write home about, or would you have ordered something different, given the chance? TIA!
