Just back from a six night stay at the Boardwalk and have some observations to share ... for what it is worth.

1. There is still Disney Magic! We arrived at the Boardwalk via the always fun Disney Magical Express and noticed three CM's standing between the doors with a bunch of balloons. I commented (sarcastically) that they had the welcoming committee ready for our arrival. My daughter suggested that they must be expecting some VIP or something. Well as a matter of fact they were waiting for us! We were selected as the "Family of the Day" at the Boardwalk! It was all silly fun but included a framed picture of us with the balloons at the entrance of the hotel and it included an upgrade to a water view room. A nice little bit of pixie dust to start our stay!

2. We spent time in every park and after reading some lengthy threads about the abysmal conditions of the bathrooms we made it a point to pay close attention to their condition as we toured. I saw nothing but clean and well maintained facilities ... at all four parks and at all different times of the day ... and night. There was always soap, towels, toilet paper and frequently found CM's present and attending to details. There was one at HS that was a little bit of a "stinker" but the plethora of mothers with babies needing a diaper change suggested that the diapers were most likely the source.

3. The CM's we encountered were, for the most part, as nice and helpful as we could have wanted. Disney may have done some cutting back in staffing but we didn't notice any obvious cutbacks in service.

4. The Boardwalk was as lovely as ever ... despite the renovations which were certainly underway but never interfered with us or our plans and never inconvenienced us. Disney was very good at notifying us of anything that might be an issue and appeared to schedule these at times when they were less likely to be an inconvenience to the guests. For example one day they were planning some work on the water system and no hot water would be available from 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. This was communicated through a message on our phone and they emphasized that if this would cause any problems or anyone (eg: for medical reasons) to let them know and they would be happy to assist in any way they could. We returned to our room at 1:30 and the hot water was back so I am guessing they were right on schedule.

5. Despite the difficulty I think we all had adjusting to the new FP+ system I think I like it. This was our second trip with the system and we found that it works pretty well ... especially with the MDE app! I also think it has "forced" people to ride some of the less popular rides and I did hear several people comment that they actually enjoyed them ... come on ... isn't it time Figment got some love!

6. The Disney restaurants were great! We tried some new ones this time and enjoyed them all. There was an issue at Narcoosee's (more on that later) but the others were completely fabulous! We had dinners at Garden Grill, Beaches and Cream, Narcoosee's and Jiko. We had lunch at Mama Melrose and breakfasts at Captain's Grill, Tusker House and Trattoria al Forno. Loved them all! Narcoosee's was running significantly behind the night we were there. We had a 9:00 PM reservation and weren't seated until almost 9:45. We were about to give up and grab a pizza at the Boardwalk when they called us to our table (we were really hungry by that time!). They were very apologetic and seated us at a table with a great view of MK and refilled our wine (twice) at no extra cost. The pork chop my daughter order came out with two chops (the extra one was delicious the next morning ... even cold!).

7. Disney has indeed gotten more expensive but then what hasn't. Unlike the groceries and medicines we pay more for every time I turn around, going to WDW is a choice we make knowing it will cost a great deal of $$$. I didn't see any significant decrease in the quality of the experience. We had a great time and will likely be taking another trip soon! :lovestruc

Thanks for sharing............always nice to hear when things go well. We did the Boardwalk on our January trip and we loved it too................even the creepy pool clown :clown:

Thanks for sharing. The BWI is our favorite resort, can't wait to get back there. What part of the hotel are they working on now? When we were there in March they had the village green area blocked off and were painting the outside of the Flying Fish.

The village green is open but the Flying Fish and Sweets Shop are blocked off for work. Other than that the work seemed to be in different places on different days. We walked to and from Hollywood Studios on three different occasions and saw the work some days and not on others. They were also running the star wars marathon races the weekend we arrived and there was some work on the course(s) in the Boardwalk area for that as well. All in all nothing really affected the enjoyment of our stay.

Thanks for sharing!
1) how awesome was that?! What a fun way to start the trip!
2) I had the same weird bathroom investigation on my last trip. Kind of couldn't help noticing because of all the discussion on the DIS, but in the million bathroom stops we made, I only noticed one that needed attention. I imagine timing is everything.

Thank you for that great report! We leave Wednesday and now you have made it even harder for me to wait!

Narcoossee's is one of my absolute favorite Disney restaurants (tied for my favorite with CG across the lagoon), but I hear your story a lot. It always seems they overbook are something, cause they're always running behind. I've eaten at Narcoossee's at least a dozen times, and honestly, I can't remember a time where we didn't have at least a 20 minute wait past our ADR time. Had a situation in December before a MVMCP where it took about 3 hours for us to be seated and get our food. Luckily, the next day, our resort account was credited for the meal, but ff they could just fix this, it'd be my favorite restaurant at WDW, because I slightly prefer the food and find it slightly more relaxing than CG (don't flame me CG lovers; I love the CG as well but it's all a matter of personal taste).

Also FWIW, the Ample Hills Creamery (where Seashore Sweets used to be I believe) should be completed and open within the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for that!

Thanks for the trip report and glad to hear you had a nice time!

I'll agree with the OP. Just came back from a trip last week, was my first time using Magic Bands and FP+. Things were certainly different, but not in a bad way. We did have to be strategic with our FP choices, and we did rope drop every day so we got in all the rides we wanted to hit. Once the FP choices were gone, we ended up going to attractions (Carousel of Progress, for example) that we hadn't done in quite some time. Our kids are still singing the theme song days later so I think they enjoyed themselves.

We used restrooms in all 4 parks for sure - never once thought that there were any issues with cleanliness.

I agree with everything you wrote. We just returned from a split stay at the Yacht Club and Polynesian (Apr 17-21). I went into this trip a bit skeptical based off of many months of reading less than glowing reports on this and other sites. Our stay was absolutely awesome.

We booked a water view room at the Yacht Club and requested upper floor close to an elevator. We got a fantastic room #3157 with great views of the entire Boardwalk and Illuminations and the higher shots from Hollywood Studios from our balcony.

We also got a major upgrade at the Poly. We booked a standard Garden View room and did online check in. They texted us when we were at Animal Kingdom around 2pm that our room was ready. When we checked in we had been upgraded to a Concierge Theme Park View Room #3505. Had a dead on 12 o'clock view of the Castle , 2 o'clock of the Contemporary and 10 o"clock of the Grand Floridian. Hard to beat watching the Electric Water Pageant and Wishes right from your room.

We had 2 PPO reservations. One at Garden Grill the 2nd at Be Our Guest. The service and character interaction at GG was fantastic and we finished in time to be one of the first riders at Fast Track. While the food was less memorable at BOG it allowed us to ride Mine Train, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise all by 10 am with our fast passes for BTMR, Splash and Pirates still to come.

I too made it a point to look closely at all the rest rooms. I didn't once come across one that was run down or dirty. This was with 2 days at Epcot, 2 at MK and 1 at Animal Kingdom.

Both myself and my daughter were chosen to be part of Enchanted Tales with Belle. I was a Suit of Armor and she was Mrs. Pots.

We ate at Via Napoli, Sanaa, Kona, Ohana, Be Our Guest, Trader Sam's, Sunshine Seasons and Tangierine Cafe. Loved the food and experience at all with the exception of the previously mentioned food at BOG and our waitress at Via Napoli who was a bit of a b*tch. She insisted her chose of wine would be better than mine and I had to practically argue with her to get my Super Tuscan. She also just seemed to have a superior attitude the entire evening, that is until it came time to pay the check when she got really friendly.

90 percent of the interactions I had with cast members was exceptional. Rarely was anyone not friendly or not return our hellos or smiles.

This was the best trip we've had to date. Yes by far the most expensive but I left there not feeling like it was money poorly spent.

Yep, same general observations here. Just got back a few days ago from an 8 day trip taking my Mom to her first visit to the world. Everything was wonderful and we didn't have a single item to complain about. My mom loved it all and saw instantly why we fell in love with Disney and why we go back every couple of months. It was my first time to go about the parks with someone on an ECV and that even went well. I was at a loss on where to go on several occasions and the CM were always very through in helping us understand where to go and what to do.
