On previous trips we've stayed at the WL and the Grand Floridian and really enjoyed our stays. We booked a couple of nights at the Carribean Beach Resort this time, prior to staying on rented points at OKW, and we absolutely loved it.

I thought the moderates would be a come-down from the deluxe hotels, so I was prepared for that, but we actually had the opposite impression. The CBR was beautifully landscaped and peaceful and relaxing. I would stay there again anytime. I loved the hammocks on the beach and my husband loved sitting on the gliders on the island between Old Port Royale and our room in Jamaica.

We spent a very pleasant morning walking through Port Orleans and Riverside and were also very impressed with both of those resorts. I sure wouldn't turn down a deluxe property, but for anyone worrying about trying to make a decision between deluxe and moderate hotels, except for the superior location of the deluxe resorts, I can't imagine being disappointed with a moderate (especially if you like to drive to the parks as we do.) We were really impressed and can't wait to go back. ::MinnieMo

I am so glad to hear you say this. I've only stayed at the Poly and GF. THis year we''re trying POR for the first time. I thought it sounded really good for the kids but was afraid I would feel "let down" at the moderates. I'm hoping we love it because this way we can go every year - alternate Moderate and Deluxe. If we just do deluxes we can only go every other year. Thanks for the info.

To me there is a significant difference between value and moderates but not as much from moderate to deluxe. That's not a put down for the deluxe but an appreciation for how good the moderates are in my opinion.

Which moderate resort is good if you have a 13 year old girl?

Do you like them equally, or does one seem to be your favorite?

We really liked the Carribean Beach and Magnolia Bend at Riverside the best - just personal preference. Both were very pretty. The Carribean Beach seemed brighter and livelier, Magnolia Bend seemed very peaceful and calm. If you're going any time soon, you might want to consider the construction noise at Magnolia Bend. It was pretty obvious as we were walking around.

Coronado Springs was the one we didn't walk through, just because my husband travels a lot on business and wanted to stay as far away from any convention-goers as possible. ( We avoid the Swan and Dolphin for that same reason.) But I don't think most people would be as sensitive to that as we are.

Port Orleans was very attractive too - especially if you were to snag a river view. But a 13 year old might find the pool a little baby-ish, depending on how sophisticated she sees herself being. It was fun to take the boat to Downtown Disney from Port Orleans and Riverside, by the way. Especially pretty at night. Hope this helps and enjoy your vacation! ::MinnieMo

We love the Caribbean Resort, my daughter will be thirteen later this year, we aregoing in June for 9 nights. My daughter loves it and I'm sure yours will to!! Hope you have a great trip no matter where you stay! Please tell us about your trip when you return!

I'm so glad to hear this!

DH and I stayed at the GF last month for our honeymoon.

I was afraid we were ruined.....lol how could we ever stay onsite again after that experience?

I had pretty much decided on POR for our trip next year (we didn't use up our Park Hopper tickets...couldn't bring ourselves to leave the GF!)

DH wants to stay at the Poly next year, but I didn't think it was "pretty" enough for me after the GF, and he doesn't have any idea how much any of the resorts cost.....

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the moderates after staying at the Gf and other deluxe resorts.

We love CBR! It was the first onsite resort that we stayed at when our kids were young. We still go back there because we enjoy it so much. We have stayed at WL,BC,Swan,Dolphin POFQ and now we are DVC members. I know that we'll stay at CBR again though. We like the food court, the marina, and just strolling at night.Have a ball!
