This will be the most beneficial aspect of FP+ for me - the ability to know the return times before I walk to the rides, and how these times relate to everything else I have planned.
I used to use Touring Plans, which mapped out a logical route to minimize backtracking and crisscrossing. Even when return times did not directly conflict with another planned event, they often undermined the very reason I had planned the day out in the first place.
Then there was the "Do I pull this FP and wait, hoping to get an FP for that, or just pass on this and go to that?"
For us, the ability to get 3 quality rides in the evening at times we choose is more valuable than anything we could get in the morning when standby lines aren't that long. For example, if we want to see Fantasmic at 8:30, we could get FPs for TSMM, TOT, and Star Tours in some order at 5-6,6-7, and 7-8. We could arrive at the park anytime before 6 and do those 3 rides (doing the last one at 7) and have time to grab something to eat before Fantasmic. If that seems too rushed, we could move the FPs up an hour. That gives us a lot more entertainment in a couple of hours than we were able to get the old way while also enjoying an afternoon break.
Sure, everyone's preferences are different and everyone has different dietary needs, but that doesn't change the fact that if you really want to get value for your disney dining experience, you'll always order the salad. Why would I want to spend my valuable vacation dollars on a burger? I can get a good burger anywhere. Disney wastes entirely too much menu space catering to the burger-istas. I blame greedy corporate management. This whole "feed 'em burgers" experiment has been a catastrophic failure, and anyone who disagrees with me is clearly wrong.

What I quoted very much came across as it was like that all of the time, or more often than not - it wasn't, which is all I was trying to say.
