Just back and heart broken

We got back late Sat night and had a wonderful time. Went to pick up our pictures at Wal Mart and out of 5 rolls of film we may have 25 decent pictures. We didnt fly so I dont know what happend to the film.
We did three character meals so should have had some great pictures . All we eneded up with was a few from Crystal Palace. The worse part is my dd9 spent 75.00 disney dollars on scrap book material and theres not enough to work with. Most of what came out was Sea World. Not even one picture of Mickey.
Sorry, just had to vent Its gana be 4 or 5 years before we make another trip.
The last 3 times that we have used Wal-Mart for developing...something was wrong with our pic's...either they were double exposed or didnt' come out... I just picked up my son's graduation pic's ...a roll of 24...only 18 came out???? and 2 of them are greenish/yellow tint! ... last weeks, my daughters film, I want to say at least 10 of them were double exposures... and she doesn't even know the people that you can see if the pic's!!!!!

I had my important pictures developed at Disney on my last trip. Even though it is more expensive, I have piece of mind knowing they came out.

My cousin bought some Kodak film for her last trip. It was on sale. It turned out that the film was a year over the expiration date. She didn't realize that until she got home. Most of those pictures are very dark.

This was my biggest fear when we took our granddaughter for her first trip to WDW just before she turned 3, so this is what we did..

The place we were staying (Tropical Palms Fun Resort) had a 24-hour film drop (dirt cheap) right there in the office, so every night I dropped off our film and had it back by the next evening so I could see that the photos were A-okay..

I would never EVER wait until I got home to have my film developed from such an important trip - especially when I know it's someplace I won't be able to get back to soon and I'm trying to capture someone at a particular "age"..

Get those photos developed DAILY - while you're still there and able to take new ones!!!::yes::

So sorry you lost all of yours..:(

Be very careful, because of the sudden popularity of digital cameras there is a LOT of out of date film and film that has been stored improperly being sold in stores. The customer can usually check the date, but there is no way of knowing how it was stored prior to purchase :(

I suppose I'm am just blessed to have a digital camera. Mine uses floppy disks so I don't have to worry about downloading my pix anywhere as I just carry a couple hundred disks with me when DH and I visit Disney. I carry 10 into the parks as at the resolution I have, I can only get 10 pix on a disk.
I also buy disposable cameras for the shots I can't get with my digital. All of those pix except maybe three or four came out quite nicely and I had 6 disposables on our last trip! :p
I am so sorry for you as I know pix help us get through the times we can't get back to Disney as we'd like to. I would try some of the suggestions mentioned here.

Blessings to you,

Denise

I have heard of too many problems with Wal-Marts film developing! I learned my lesson and will only do film developing at WalMart or anywhere else using the 1 hour service. That way, your film never leaves the store so you know exactly who is accountable. This year we are using both digital and 35mm, so it will be interesting to see how our shots come out.

On a side note, does anyone know how much it is to get a picture CD made at WDW. Since our memory card only holds 125 pictures, I thought we could get a picture CD made there and then clear the card off to use again. Thanks.

I'm really cheap and there aren't many things I'll pay extra for, but photo processing is one of them. I mean one of my son's friends got a job at Eckerd doing this when she was a teenager -- she was actually developing people's film on her first day. I take mine to a specialty camera store.

In my area, Wal Mart has the worst processing by far. My boss had some volutneer photos done there and I had them reprinted at Wolf Camera -- they should have used the before and after in ad there was so much difference. If the problem with your photos is in the developing, there is nothing that can be done. If it is in printing, however, the photos can be reprinted. Why don't you take one roll to Ritz Camera, Wolf Camera, your locally owned store, etc., and see whether anything can be done?

You might pop over to the Cooking, Crafting and Scrapping forum. I'm sure there are many there with extra pictures that would be happy to help you out!

If you certain kinds of pics you need let me know. I have hundreds from my digital camera. You can take the pics to plenty of place now to get them printed there are also some good places online that will print your photos at a good price also.

My stomache just dropped for you. I was at Disney in January and have lots of photo I can share. Especially of the parades and fireworks. I think i have one or two realy good character pictures with out me in it. Just let me know and I will send them.

So so sorry. The post about taking you camera to get still made is a really good idea. If you are stuck on cash here is another way. Borrow a digital camera. Run the tape on the telelvision and push pause the picture will be frozen then take a picture with the digital camera. Works best with flash off. Can look a very little grainy but it works. Have done it a few times. Nice thing about the digital if is doesn't come out just delete and try again. It will take a little time to find the right angle but it is worth a try.

Hi, is it possible that your CAMERA is broken or DEFECTIVE?? Have you taken any pics since your return?? I would take a roll of shots just to test the camera. I also feel your pain, I have had a few times when pics were not the best. But it seems as time goes on and you look at the pics, even a slightly blurry or dark pic will bring back wonderful memories! Joan

A few of you mentioned the heat as a possibility. I was curious how we can prevent that from happening to us. Would buying a small insulated cooler bag help? We are going in Oct. for our honeymoon and I love pictures and would like to do a honeymoon scrapbook.
