Just back and enjoyed SSR!

Thanks everyone for your positive feedback. I was nervous about SSR incentive points - but now I am looking forward to it. We go in February!!!!

Glad you enjoyed your stay-SSR is a well kept secret. SSR is our home resort and we'll be there in less than 60 days.

I heard so many "bad" things about SSR. It was the only thing available as we booked so late, so my expectations were low. WOW - what a resort. Soooo gorgeous and perfect. We loved it so much!! I was thinking we should have paid the lower price and bought into that resort instead of AKL. I forgot to look for the THV's though, where were they? We were only there for a few nights prior to our Magic cruise.

Anyway, just wanted to share what a lovely resort it was.

I was there march this year and it is a beautiful resort. The only thing i wasn't happy with was the buses- waited over 1/2 hr. everytime. I even waited 45 min. for a bus to MK while epcot and other bus came by every 15m in. How was the bus schedule for you this time. I'm gonna be there again next week.. hope it's gotten better.

I stayed at SSR for my 1st DVC stay, and I thought it was beautiful, convenient to DTD, peaceful- I really enjoyed it and know that we will someday go back. I really don't understand why so many people dislike it here, there are so many things to fall in love with!

I was thinking of planning a SSR stay with the intentions of using the spa, walking the grounds, health club, etc. with close proximity to DTD. No parks visit. Has anyone stayed with these same intentions? Of course i would want Grandstand or Congress Park.

My DSis stayed in Springs and enjoyed a wonderful, but short, no park SSR stay. She loved the spa facilities that are available to SSR guests. If I would have the chance for such a visit, I would do it!

If your just going to stay on resort. Walk the grounds and use the spa, I would stay at Congress Park with DTD view or the Springs section overlooking the water fountains. Grandstand would be my third choice, unless you wanted to heckle the golfers!

We were there last Spring Break. Because the parks are so crowded during that time of year, if I remember correctly, we only went to MK. The other days, we hung out at the pools, walked to DTD, and enjoyed all SSR had to offer. We had the best time. It's definitely a great resort for a "no parks" visit.

I think I've found my trip plans!! Well, I'll try this for the last week of January, 2010. It will be a 7 mos. ressie, I'm confident I'll get in at SSR, just gotta hope for the Springs or CP. Ok, well can't ressie till June now!!

:cool1: WE WILL BE STAYING HERE IN 6 DAYS THIS IS MY FIRST STAY AY MY HOME RESORT THANKS FOR ALL THE POSITIVES I WAS ALITTLE LEARY:wizard:

We have also had similar experiences with the buses at SSR up until our prior visit a month ago. You might like to know that when we were there a month ago there was a CM at some of the bus stops each morning timing the buses. We stayed in GS which is the first pick up and there were actually 2-3 buses waiting in the parking area there if they were needed.

The CM who was monitoring at the GS stop told me they wouldn't allow more than 15-20 min between buses. IF the time grew more than 20 min he would signal one of the waiting buses to start a route.

Not sure how long they were doing this or if they still are but at least they are listening to guests regarding this issue. I believe though that they only do this in the mornings. Unfortunate for us, we tend to travel to/from the parks during OFF PEAK times when it is at least (what seems like) a 20 min wait minimum.

But I have to admit we do stay at different resorts and it seems to be the same at pretty much all of them. We just notice it more at SSR because you have to "bus" to ALL of the parks (as opposed to boating or taking the monorail) so the waiting time can be more noticeable since you take the bus more than if you stay at an Epcot resort or an MK resort. It always seems like whatever resort we stay at that we see buses for all of the other resorts more often than ours!;)
