Thanks for the welcome back CALIFORNIA DREAMING, It was a great 2 weeks. Two of us for 9 days then solo. Have to begin my new count down for WDW trip in March....gotta love that Disney.

Daisie,
I love my Mickey...I put of purchasing him until about 2 days before I left. It wasnt about the price but I did not really want to lug him around with all my other junk. Camera, video camera, purse, passes arrrggggg! But wnt my friend left and I was solo I bought him and was very glad I did. I have been to WDW many times and was sure I seen it all. The first park I took him to was Animal Kingdom....So I get in the park and touch his hand and he says ...Welcome to the Magic Kingdom......I look around and I say outloud no Mickey this is Animal Kingdom...you got your Kingdoms mixed up and he says with the touch of his hand see the castle up ahead....so I search out a store that sells him and they tell me he has to be turned on. i say but hes talking and they say that is just a canned program so they take him and stick him on a machine and download the program for that park. They explain that if I had the on button on his back positioned to on he would have automatically up loaded at the turnstile. Silly me...silly ole mouse......while walking around he tole me I was just steps away from the Poccohaunis(I am a bad speller and too lazy to look)show which would begin in approx 10 minutes. While just walking around he told me to turn right and take a less traveled path which was a treat to me cause I saw lots of animals and it was not the Panganni trail. He told me some pretty lame jokes but who cares i am an adult carring around a stuff animal. When I went to Epcot he downloaded perfectly and talked to me there as well. I will take him with me in March again. One thing though he did fall off my fanny pack twice and once I did not realize and a lady picked him up and handed him to me. I probably did not hook him om tight when I removed him to hear him in a crowd. My sister is a seamstress and I am having her design something to ensure that that does not happen. Like perhaps wearing him on a type of laynard around my neck so hes easy to put to my ear and not unhook. Buy him hes a great addition to park time. I have up purchasing shirts and sweatshirts this trip and that was equivelent to his price.
I have not done anything with him at home yet but I was told he tells jokes and plays games.......I just wonder if this is part of the book 1984 big brother is watching......maybe Disney is tracking Pal Mickeys and watching us...maybe I'll get a discount for March...pleaseeee.
Thanks for the question :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Your answer to my question made me laugh outloud.........too funny! I think I will buy him! Do you think he could be attached to the strap of a backpack?
I'm looking forward to my upcoming trip....I'll have to remember to turn him on before entering the parks. Thanks so much for the great reply! I would probably be doing the same thing, chatting with him, no mickey, we are at the animal kingdom!!!

We will be staying at ASMo for 6 days in January with 2 small kids and no car. Im trying to figure out what is nearby to do for dinners? Is the Pepper Market walkable? Do the buses from the All Stars stop at any of the other resorts or do you need to go to the parks and then back again?

Thanks for your help
Beth

Daisie,
I think the back pack strap would be fine...his only requirement (that is after you turn him on) is to have his nose point forward. He actually activated before I went thru the turnstile at EPCOT so that mouse has a pretty strong nose.

Bethnburke........you can walk from one ASR to all of them for meals...also you could walk to McDonalds. Trust me the food courts are all good at all the ALL Stars. I like the Music one the best. If you would like to eat at another resort you must take a bus to a park or downtown disney and then take that resort bus to that resort. DTD has some great places to eat also. Mears offers many shuttle trips including the Beltz Mall for 13.00 per person round trip. Kids are cheaper I think it was 8.00.
I dont think the parks are any higher than eating out at home for me. I never rent a car anymore that I stay on the grounds its nice to leave the driving to someone else while on vacation.
IMHO the drivers in Fla are terrible as they are mostly tourist and dont know wher they are going. A Disney bus driver told me that they spend millions of dollars a year regrassing the mediums that people do u truns in. Leave thedriving to someone else and let the people in the purple pants take you around. A hint on food courts in general ...try not to eat at prime times......very busy and noisey. Also take your food outside if weather permitts..it always surprises me how many eat inside looking out.

How was the weather? More specifically, what did you wear in the evenings? We leave in 6 days and I'm wondering if what we need to bring to wear after the sun goes down. Thanks.

Disney753, glad you had a good trip! We are going to ASMu the 2nd - 12th. I've heard some talk about the long walks to the food court/busses. I know that can be all relative depending on fatigue & small children. Is it really that long? We are walkers (me & dd/11), so long to us is more than 20 minutes. We requested Jazz, but could wind up anywhere really. Just trying to get an idea! Not that it really matters, we'll be happy just being on vacation! Did you stay late at the parks? We usually lag behind the mad dash at park closing & take our time to get to the bus stop, was wondering what the crowd level would be on the bus then?

Glad I read about having the pal mickey turned on before the turnstile, I was wondering how he got his info! I bought one for dd on disauctions.

Thanks!

The weather was between 82-87 during the day and about 60 at night. I amfrom Buffalo NY and 50 is warm to me. I wore shorts and capris day and night. I did wear a long sleave t-shirt one nite. We used the air conditioning everynite as well. We had rain 2 days but not all days and I did bring my yellow ponco but it was to warm to wear it so I just got a little drizzled on. Got really yet on kaili rapids animal kingdom but it was not uncomfortable weather wise but.....those wet underware...naaassssttty.

The walk from Jazz is really great and I always stay there. There is no place that would take you over 7 minutes to walk to the food court or bus stop. And I am a slowwalker. But I will give you a hint on how to get the jazz building. If I read you right its you amd your daughter only. When you fax your room request or check in tell them you want a room that is close to the food court as you are concerned about being single with a child as far as security goes. I usually travel alone and i ask for a room on the front side of the building in the jazz building so that I am visable to many eyes because I am alone. I have always gotten my request. Disney takes security and you feeling very comfortable very serious esp since 911. My room is never ready when I get there but I dress for the park when I fly in and leave bags at the hotel and just go. When i come back when the park closes my bags are in the room.
As far as the park hours all the parks closed early...but what I do is just brouse thru the shops until the crowd thins out. I hate standing on the bus so usually just hang out. This trip only had to stand once and it was a busy weekend(soap stars).
Disney is the best place on earth to people watch and slowing down the pace is wonderful. I have been so many times that I figure its time to really see the true Disney and enjoy it...there asr so many small details that I missed when I thought I had to do it all. This is the first time in a very long time that Typhoon Lagoon is opened at this time its usually down for refirbishing...If you like the water it is a great day there and very relaxing.
Have a great vacation and hope this info helps.

As far as dinner nearby All-Stars!!

No one HAS to go back to their room after the parks close and then think about dinner!!!!!!

When the parks close, get on ANY resort bus, monorail, etc. and have dinner at ANY resort!!!

I frequently go to the monorail resorts after Magic Kingdom, or to the Epcot Resorts (Swan/Dolphin, Yacht/Beach, Boardwalk) after the Studios or Epcot.

I always go to dinner at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge after Animal Kingdom.

We stay at All-Stars most of the time and the ONLY meal we ever eat there is breakfast.

(Can you tell this is my soap box) :-)

Carol
