Just back - akv ~ kidani village

I guess you could say "How many Disney fan who have used DDP will cook in their rooms while staying at AKV?" Just look at the past #'s and if hardly ever used, why get any bigger?:confused3

Just my guess:lmao:
We have never purchased the DDP and probably never will. I ran the numbers and it's cheaper for us to purchase the TIW card and pay out of pocket.

We don't do much cooking in the room but we do eat breakfast in the room nearly every day, usually cereal, fresh fruit and coffee so having normal-size cereal bowls and coffee mugs is helpful. The dishes chosen for the other DVC resorts where we normally stay (BWV, VWL, OKW) are fine so it was surprising to see the choices that were made at AKV.

Actually, I choose November 7th for 3 nights becuase my DH turns 41 on 11/05. Unfortunately, we have to make it a Sun - Wed night trip in a studio becuase we are using our remaining years point, which is not a whole lot. We cannot "afford" a weekend day.

From my preliminary research, it appears that all of the special experiences (extra $$) are on the weekend days. Looking at last years special experiences though, nothing really struck me as WOW, I just have to do that, except the Tequila tasting (;)). Therefore, I hope that our during the week stay will still render a good F&W experience. Plus, we are arriving late in the game, which kind of has me worried. What do you think?

My DH is the one who suggested the adults only trip!!! I was to say the least SHOCKED, but thrilled.

try this for you adult only trip.........Epcot and MGM only. You can walk bus or even take a boat to those resorts. Epcot has great dinning choices. So does the Boardwalk and Beach Club and Yacht Club have great dinning along with the Dolphin and Swan!! Just an idea!!:woohoo:

Actually we were thinking about doing Epcot F&W one day and then maybe DTD (westside w/Cirque de Soleil) & Segway tour (fort wilderness) another day. We have always wanted to do the Segway tour at FW, but never have been able to since you have to be older than 16. Both of our kiddos are 12 and 4.

DDP is worth it if you stick to dinner for your DDP TS. DW, my self and DD DD-BFF would have paid for lunch at Le Cellier right at $151:scared1: I have been known to say something(jokingly:lmao:) when we eat out and bills hit $55:eek: :rotfl2:. Go figure!!

Now for the dishes in AKV, just think of how the economy was headed while they were building AKV. That's all I'm saying. Look at the complaints about BLT. (sounds like cutting some corners to keep profit margins high)

You ever been to a MNSSHP? Dresses up no less? No kids!! Just 2 Adults who wear costums that have some people stoping you because of what you looked like walking down Main street at 4 pm, just after the Family Fun Day Parade. Here is a link to the video Here This will just let you know if you go, you can let loose. :rolleyes1

Tuesday would be a good day for the MNSSHP. You can get in to MK at 4 pm and leave at midnight. Relax at the resort by the pool to start off the day. :confused3

Just because there are no kids, don't mean "you can't act like a kid" Or just do all days at Epcot. 4 days at Epcot would be cool!! Do FW in 2 days to see all. Drink around the world (take the boat back to the resort or try to walk back (video tape that :rolleyes1)

OP, we were at Kidani the week before you. Our unit was fine, except we obviously got the same drink pitcher you did!! At OKW, they're full sized pitchers, so I always buy Crystal Light. I got home from the grocery store, and pulled out this tiny little beer pitcher.....so I just put the Crystal light in my suitcase!!

I do wish they'd stock the kitchen with a few more pots/pans/skillets. I did buy sub sandwich fixings, so we ate a couple of dinners in the room.

Our carpet was fine, but we've had the black carpet at OKW before. Makes you wonder how often they're scheduled for steam cleanings.

The resort was great. Very friendly staff, and the kids loved the pool.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom at Jambo House a few weeks ago and had the same small coffee cups and tiny pitcher you've described at Kadani. Since we bought refillable mugs, we used those for coffee in the villa. I gave up on making iced tea when I finally found that little pitcher. However, we had enough wine glasses in the cabinet for 8 or more people. DH enjoyed having his milk and juice every morning in a wine glass.

I thought it was just me on the AKV dishes. The bowls were too small for my kids to eat cereal in. I ended up using the stainless steal bowl for my Fruit Loops.

:rotfl:That is hillarious. My DH did the same thing. After we checked in, but B4 the room was ready, we went grocery shopping. I had my list and menu all made out. I figured they would not have any plastic type bowls for the 3 yo boys, so bought two cheap ones...the ones with the straw, but looking back I should have bought everyone one. When I ate cereal for breakfast, I had like 3 or 4 bowls of cereal. This equaled my normal one bowl at home. The mugs did not really bother me that much because I always buy a new coffee mug each trip...this time it was purchased b4 I even unpacked!!! I love Disney mugs...they are thick and big.

I was really close to bringing my ice tea maker from home, but then I thought nah I do not need that thing. We had a lockoff so we could use one coffee pot to brew tea and hey the villa inventory in the vacation planner said there was a pitcher. Who knew it was about the size of a large drinking mug. I looked at that thing and LMAO!!! I then put the tea bags in my suitcase.

At least now I know for my next trip home at AKV what extra things I need to pack for the kitchen. I still really much enjoyed my stay there. I am a proud owner.

Another thing I think they need is more big cutting/chopping knives. There were two of us slicing/chopping veggies for tacos one night and I was stuck with the steak knife...that does not work very well.

I don't know about OKW (now being refurbed) but we stayed at BWV mid-June this year (2010) in a 1-bedroom unit and the pitcher was very small :sad2: in comparison to the previous years stay (June 2009) at BCV (there a "normal sized" pitcher). I wonder if this is a change in supplier for the refurbishments and new villas?

Lucky for us, we found a Mickey Pitcher (of nice size) and now it is living in our OL!

Gotta love those OL!
