Just back AKLV...thoughts on Savannah view 2BR.....

Smart guests will take full advantage of the complimentary drinks in the concierge lounge and then they'll see lots of animals -- elephants mostly, in varying shades of pink, dancing and blowing bubbles and stuff...

:rotfl2: Pink elephants & bubbles would have been worth all those weekend points we used.

Well there is the problem... I only drink water and Lemonade, not even coffee. I really did not get my points worth out of the drinks. The food was good. I'll try to book Concierge again, but after construction is over. I would have given my Eye teeth to have seen elephants in any color.:lmao:

Just returned from 1 week at AKV. Had a 2bedroom l/o. When we arrived they gave us a room on the sunset savannah-my grandson opened the drapes and there were no animals and a big construction crane was our view. My daughter immediately called DVC and we were moved into 5582 Arusha. The room was great, the animals were many and my grandchildren had a wonderful time. This was our first visit home and turned out to be great after a rough start.

Hi All,

We are going with our 3yr old and 8 mos old so a view with animals is important to us. Should we request the Arusha or the Zebra trail? Thanks guys. My little guy is really looking forward the view.

Also should I call DVC or AKL to make the request of wait 'til we get there?

Thanks again.

This was my very same view from Concierge. If, I was warned from MS last July 07, that there was a possibility it was going to have construction views, I do not remember, or the excitement of booking Concierge overwhelmed me!:rotfl: If, this had been Value, I guess It would have understood, I just wonder what they are charging Cash paying Concierge guests? I wish there had been a point adjustment.

I can't find any cash pricing for concierge villas. I looked on MouseSavers and on the Disney website and apparently the prices are a secret!
We have a concierge room booked for our first 3 nights in August, and it is at rack rate ($335 + tax). No AAA discount, no AP discount, nothing. Just rack rate. I am not familiar enough with the layout to know if the concierge rooms have the same view as concierge villas. I will say if we have stunning vistas of construction equipment I will complain because I was NOT warned about it. We only booked concierge to do the Sunrise Safari, but a room with a guaranteed savannah view at rack rate ought to have some sort of animals included!

Our last 3 nights are a standard studio, so I am assuming we'll have pool view?

I just booked a value studio (cash with DVC discount) for a Friday night in June. Does anyone know what I can expect? I know the values are smaller, but I guess they can be just about anywhere? :confused3

Fyi, the value was $261 total. They wanted $371 for a SV.

DH and I will be in an SV studio Oct 6 - 9. Its our first trip w/o kids in 10 years! What are the chances the outside construction will be completed, thus increasing the odds of animals venturing back to the sunset sav.?

I guess I should call and put in a request for Arusha.

Okay, I know I've seen the floorplans on here somewhere for the different room types in Jambo, but after much searching I can't seem to find them.:confused3 Do all of the two bedrooms in Jambo have the extra hallway bathroom (3 total)? And do all of the one bedrooms in Jambo have only one bathroom total, located off the bedroom, regardless of booking category???

2 bedrooms in Jambo have 2 full baths, 1 bedrooms in Jambo have 1 full bath, regardless of type. In Kidani, 2 bedrooms will have 3 full baths, and 1 bedrooms will have 2.

We will be there Sunday. After reading these posts a few days ago I made an e-mail request to MS to not be on Sunset. I got a prompt reply that we cannot request specific locations/savannas!? The tone of the e-mail was definitely not friendly. I'm guessing they are getting a lot of requests like this, but I have never been told I can't request something--just that it won't be guaranteed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Sunday check-in.

Thanks bobbiwoz, I thought that was the way I understood it, but I saw something in another thread that made it sound differently. Appreciate the verification.

Call them. I called last week and added a request for the Arusha savannah no problems. We check in on Monday.

I just made a reservation for Value view, for May 09. The nicest MS rep fully informed me of the full construction that will possibly be going on. This is not the warning I had last year. I told her laughing, I know ... I was just there.:goodvibes I thanked her for telling me. This is Value though.

Can someone please help me out with a little AKV 101 ?
My understanding on the Jambo HOuse savannas :
Sunset, Uzima, Arusha ? Is Sunset the only one right now that has the bad view with the construction going on ? The other two are good ? And then someone mentioned Zebra Trail ? What/where is that ? Is this a good request ? I'm one of the people with a savanna view this Aug who was not informed by MS that I would see and hear construction cranes. Thank you :)

See the link to the resort map for AKL (Jambo). This will show you the location of the different savannas and "trails" or hallways of the resort. The sunset savanna is to the left of the resort, and the new construction would be across the sunset savanna, although there are other locations you would see some construction, depending on which side of the hallway your room is located. Arusha savanna is in the middle of the "horseshoe" and Uzima is to the right (out from the pool) I think.

We were in room 5203 (or close to there) Those birds are definitely not hanging out over there.
