Just Back AKL Concierge Any ????

Hi everyone, just returned from our 5 days at the AKL. August 8 through the 12th. The weather was GREAT! No rain! We didn't use our Poncho's one time! Sunny and not too humid except for the last day. We stayed On the 5th floor on Arusha Rock Savannah. We saw lots of animals and even had towel animals! The food offerings were great! I could make a meal on the dinner. I loved the Cap. and Expresso Machine! Everyone was friendly and I thought it was very quiet there. Not like the WL which is noisy! The pool was lovely as were the Hot Tubs! We went swimming at Midnight some nights and there was always 20 to 25 people there! We did E-Night on Friday August 9 and walked on everything without a wait! Go SOAKED an SM we had a log all to ourselves so of course we bought the picture! It was just my DS who is 17 and myself on this trip! DH could not leave work due to busy schedule!

Thanks to these boards my DS got 999,999 on Buzz and everyone clapped!!! Of couse I did not have my camera!!!!

We did the AP Holders Trivia questions at the MK. HAd a blast and so much fun!!! The CM's really liked it and were helpful with some of the questions. Beware....they are hard and it can take ALL DAY!!!!

Also went to the AP lounge at The Land and got Shockwave PS. They were good but I liked BLAST the original one better.

We ate at O'Hana's and I had the Chef make me a vegetarian meal of Teriyaki glazed veggies over linguine and grilled grouper on top! It was great!

Also ate at LTT for lunch and we split the Pot Roast and I ate the veggies and split a Declararion salad with the strawberry vinegrette.

Ate at Wolfgang Puck's upstairs....over rated and not very good. I had a trio appetizer for $28 and my son had the Seared Tuna which he liked for $30. It was VERY noisy up there!

Also did our Favorite the CG. We started with the sushi which was great! Then I ordered 2 Appetizers for my dinner...Heirloom Tomatoes with a balsamic syrup and Mussels and my son had the Filet. Very good!!!!

We did another favorite...Tappenyaki for lunch. Very good!

We did the Garden Grill at the Land for lunch. It was very good.

We did not do Boma's or Jiko's this trip...not enough time!

We are going back to AKL Concierge for 18 days at Christmas so we will have lots of time.

Forgot to mention one thing...We did the Orange Blossom Champagne Hot Air Balloon Ride! WoW! Is all I can say! Worth it and very fun and calm! I recommend it!

Here's a question:
Do you have any notion what proportion of concierge rooms at AKL are not savannah view?
We are staying at AKL this Dec and considered concierge but one of the negative factors was that concierge does not guarantee savannah view, some of the rooms are pool view.

It seems crazy that you would pay $100 or more extra for concierge and then not end up with savannah view like most of the other guests. How often does that happen?

Sounds awesome! Were there many vegetarian offerings at the concierge? Also, did you have problems with your concierge room key and the elevator. I was there last month and once I rode the elevator with a family in concierge. They were having a hard time getting to the concierge floor. They told me they had to ride up and down several times. Maybe they were a little confused.

Tinkbell - Yes there were many veggie offerings at the concierge. 3 differnet humus dips. Veggie flatbread with grilled veggies on top, corn and plaintain dip! Much, Much more!!!! I will get pictures Posted this weekend! Only 1 elevator gave us a problem. There were 6 of them. So we told them in Concierge and they said others had mentioned it too so they were going to fix it!

erikthewise - I am not sure of the answer to that one. I did notice a lot of room overlooking the pool but what number of them were Concierge??? I just couldn't tell. The pool views are great but I agree that when staying Concierge the Savannah view is the best!


laurenk & grumpyandbashful - I did not think I would like the AKL so much but I truly fell in Love with it!!! I still think we will switch between the BC and the AKL depending on the time of year we go! I hope to see you both soon!
