This was a different trip for us because after many many trips this was our first split stay. We usually stay at the Polynesian LVC for the 4th but since this was last minute and that was booked we used this as a opportunity to try BC and for our DD (16yo) to have her first say at AKL.
Our trip started at the AKL 7/1, we went straight to our room since Concierge was closed for the day. All of our requests were met, non-smoking, savannah view on the 6th floor great room for us and my DS with special needs. There was a small gift waiting upon arrival.
While there we ate at Mara, Jiko, and did the Sunrise Safari. I thought the offerings in the lounge were basically unchanged since our last stay 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Concierge was very helpful and booked several last minute things for us. Housekeeping was good and we recieved a towel animal. Upon checkout our bellman remembered to get our bottled water for our safari home (actually on over to the BC) nice touch!
We checked into the BC 7/3 at around 1:30 after a late checkout at AKL and used our key we got in the mail to get up to the concierge floor. Check-in went OK only one person ahead of us but our room was not ready so it was off to the pool.
I know PamNC is reporting that they check ID's but we did not find this to be the case. If you need towels you need ID's and get a wristband otherwise you could skate by. We were there everyday of our stay for about 3-4 hours. On the 4th they checked a little better but other than that I sat next to several families that thought it was pretty funny they were beating the system. It was pretty easy to find a lounge chair, but tables were hard to come by. Also, if you have a choice on where to get that lunch by the pool Beaches and Cream(yum) has much better food than Hurricane Hannah's. We brought our own tube with no problem which worked out great on the days they were sold out.
We got into our room about 3:30 and again all of our requests were met. We loved the room. Housekeeping was very good although we only had turndown service 1 night. We got a towel animal again a really cute toothbrush holder. Also, there were no robes in the room and it took over an hour to get bed rails.
The offerings in the lounge were much different than the AKL. Since it was a split stay the difference was just that much more obvious. Also not that big of a deal but DH was reprimanded for leaving a glass of water on the counter the day we checked in, actually he forgot it as he was leaving to bring our carry on bags to the room. Really set the tone for him, he didn't like being told where to put his dirty dishes especially since there was a sign there as well. I also drink Perrier and after the first day they were out of it . I think what I am getting at is that after such a nice attitude (is there anything we can do for you, I will see if we can get that etc,) at the other lounges we have been at I just didn't care for BC. Just in case you were wondering we do not use the lounge that often(mostly drinks) most of the checking I did was so I could report back here. So, pm offerings were soup and a hot item which were spare ribs, spinach dip, steamed clams, and clam chowder, tomato, and chicken noodle on the days I checked. Also the usual cheese/crackers, veggies/dip.
We also did the Breathless 1/2 burst, Segway tour, and Keys to the Kingdom tour. We ate at Morocco don't remember the name of the restaurant, Chefs de France, Mama Melrose, Brown Derby, and BC room service.
Any questions, please ask, we had a BLAST!!
