Our first meal at WDW was T-Rex on Saturday night.

T-Rex

We had a 5:15 ADR and arrived right at 5:15. The line just to check in was huge, but we checked in and once they realized we had a reservation we got right into the other big line to be called in. It took about 10 more minutes to be called in, a hostess came through and took us out of line with our name on a slip.
We had a table in the very back room, which turned out to be perfect. It seems a little less noisy back there. We had a booth, which worked out nicely with the two young children. My DD1 was given a booster and seemed to enjoy being a big girl at the table.

Our server was Ashley and was very nice and attentive, always smiling.
My Mom ordered the Dip appetizer for us while I was busy with the girls, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it otherwise. It was 2 dips, a spinach and artichoke and a shrimp and cheese dip. It arrived with tri-color tortilla chips. The chips were good, the dips not so much. My mom enjoyed them and the girls like the chips, but the spinach/artichoke tasted like a queso dip, it could have been just melted velveeta with spinach in it. The other shrimp dip tasted like celery for some reason, and I don’t like celery. Sorry there’s no picture of this.
My DH and Mom ordered cocktails, of which I tried both, which is about the maximum alcohol intake I usually have, 2 sips of each drink. They each had a fruity drink with vodka in it in light up glasses that we took home. I don’t remember what they were called but they were fairly tasty.
I had heard that the meals were huge and they are quite expensive. I was taken with the idea of the Triasic Tuna appetizer and decided to go with that knowing that the girls probably would only eat a little of theirs and I’d want to try some of theirs anyway. The waitress warned me that it was just 3 pieces but it was a perfect size. It was 3 crispy fried wontons with uncooked tuna (diced) a combo of avocado and mango with a nice asian style dressing. It was delicious! I wasn’t sure how I’d be with the raw tuna as I’ve been a little weirded out before, but I’m so glad I tried it. It was absolutely yummy!

My DH and Mom both went with the chicken sandwich which was chicken, bacon, pepper jack cheese in a fried pizza dough shell. They liked it but they said it was really too much food and next time they would share it if they got it again. I had warned them that I heard the servings were huge but they didn’t listen! I didn’t get a picture because they dug right in as soon as they got it. They got waffle fries with them and they were ok, I tried one of my DH’s, just regular waffle fries. Good and crispy though.
My DD1 got pasta with butter, which she really enjoyed. It was a nice shape (orechettie?) with butter and cheese and came with a piece of bread with melted cheese on it. She really seemed to like it. No picture as it was just buttered pasta.
DD5 ordered the kids pizza. She seemed to like it and ate half of it, pretty typical of her if she likes something, she’s not a big eater.

We all really enjoyed the atmosphere, the girls liked the meteor shower that happened every 15 minutes or so, DD5 pretended to be scared (drama queen!) but I could tell she really liked it. I don’t think I would like the ice room as it was a lot of sensory input with the colors changing etc. It was very loud in the front of the restaurant!

Service was good, although with the kids I would have liked to get their meals much sooner then it took.
Our meal came to $103 for 3 adults and 2 children with 2 cocktails.
We would return but would definitely stick with appetizers or sharing entrees.

I'll be working on Chef Mickey, Sunshine Seasons and Sci-Fi next!

We used our Fps at Soarin’ and decided it was time for lunch as we wanted to go to Sunshine Seasons anyway. We loved it last year.
I had the seared tuna salad with asian dressing and a Diet Coke. It was really good. My only complaint was that the 2nd piece of tuna was very fibrous and difficult to cut. I ended up only 1/4 of that piece, but really enjoyed the rest of it. It had a nice dressing and a good amount on it, not too much and very fresh tasting.

My mom had the roasted beat salad with goat cheese. She really enjoyed this, also saying it was very fresh and yummy. I had a bite of the yellow beets with goat cheese and it was good. The cheese wasn’t too “goat”, which I’m sensitive to as I own goats and sometimes the taste of the cheese reminds me of how the males can smell! Mine are just pets though, actually my horses’ pets!

DH had the Italian sandwich on focaccia. It was a mix of Italian meats, including ham and salami. He really liked this and ate most of it, which is a lot for him.

DD5 had the children’s Mac ‘n Cheese with applesauce and carrots. She had 2 bites of the Mac and pushed it aside. I tried it too and it was just Stouffers, but not even as good. DD1 ate her applesauce.

DD1 had some of the California Roll that I bought to share with the girls (very good) and a fruit salad bowl that she loved.

I love Sunshine Seasons. The food always tastes fresh and good and they have a really nice variety.
Definitely going back again!

We arrived right on time for our 5:30 ADR after parking in the Contemporary parking lot.
We chose to have our picture taken and purchased it, the girls were dressed very cute and I wanted at least 1 good picture of all of us. It ended up costing us $33 with tax, pretty steep but it came out nice.
We were seated in the room to the left right up against the windows. I liked this seat, it gave us some seclusion away from the hustle and bustle and a decent view of the water.

I settled the girls and went right up to the buffet to get some food for the girls as I knew that I had to get something into them right away if I was to keep them happy while waiting for the characters. While I was gone DH and Mom ordered our drinks. D. Coke for me, milk for the girls and cocktails for them. DH had an “anti-oxydant drink that was very tasty, mostly cranberry and orange was what it tasted like to me.
I went to the salad area of the buffet and got 2 small plates with cheese chunks, a roll each, then a slice of pizza each and Mac ‘n cheese from the children’s area. I was bummed that they didn’t have a fruit salad, my kids LOVE fruit.
The girls immediately attacked the cheese, preferring the orange cheddar over the Swiss. DD1 attacked the cheese and her roll but turned her nose up at the Mac ‘n cheese after one bite. She never did take more then 1 bite of her pizza.
DD5 enjoyed everything I brought her but didn’t want anything else except mashed potatoes, oh and dessert of course.
It was about then that the characters started arriving and to my surprise DD1 was really scared! She’s usually such an overly brave little thing, but being with the characters really made her uneasy. I could tell she wanted to like them. She would wave goodbye and be really excited when they came near but would start crying when they got close. She loved the napkin waving though and was super excited to see Minnie as she had a Minnie doll and a Minnie themed dress. Still didn’t want to get too close though!
Here’s a picture of her just because she looked so cute! DD5 had a similar outfit but a dress instead.
My Mom and DH went up to the buffet and got a variety of meats and salads. Both enjoyed their potatoes the most but thought the meats were dry and didn’t have much flavor.
I started out with a small salad plate with a few things on it.
My big plate consisted of: parmesan potatoes (SO good, my favorite thing!), Mickey ravioli (the only thing I didn’t finish, it was mushy), Potatoes O’gratin (very good), green beans with a mushroom sauce (good, crispy still), Mickey Mac ‘n cheese (very tasty) and a small piece of salmon with mango sauce on polenta (delicious!).

DD5’s dessert plate: cheese cake, Mickey dome, lemon tartlet. She didn’t like any of it and went back for a make your own sundae.
ChefMickeydessert1.jpg

My dessert plate: Cheesecake, Mickey Dome, cookie and chocolate banana bread pudding. All were good, but especially the bread pudding, I was so stuffed though that I only had a bite of everything else to try it..

Service was only acceptable. Our server didn’t know how to smile but was pleasant enough. He did a fairly good job with the drinks and removing our dirty plates at first, got slower as we went on. But what really frustrated my mother and I was trying to get the check when we were done. It took forever! Finally my DH took the girls out while my mother and I waited. I stood by the table with my jacket on and it still took another 10+ minutes to get our check.
I enjoyed myself at Chef Mickey but I’m not in any rush to go back. I would definitely like to try other restaurants that I haven’t tried yet before I go back. The characters were rushed, although we did see them more then once as we were there so long.

Great reviews! I am thoroughly impressed that your little ones eat sushi...I can't even get some adults to try it.

I was thinking your kids eat like mine until you got the suchi part! I cannot even bring myself to try it...I want to but I just haven't. I guess if I was with someone else eating it I might get brave but honestly sushi scares me!

Looking forward to your reports! But I must show my ignorance and ask, what is a Pescetarian?

Not the OP, but a pescetarian is most easily described as a vegetarian who also will eat seafood. It's an "offshoot" of vegetarianism if you will.

Loving the report so far! My DD adores sushi as well. :thumbsup2

Great reviews! Sorry to hear about the poor service at Chef Mickey's.

Looking forward to hearing more! And pixiedust: for good service and great food the rest of your trip!!

We had an 11:25 ADR for Sci-Fi for Monday afternoon. We arrived a little early and was seated around 11:20. We had a car right in the middle in the front row of the restaurant, right in front of the screen. We parked our stroller right in front, it was nice that we could bring it right in!
The girls and I sat in the front seat while my DH and Mom sat right behind us. Our server was very pleasant and took our drink orders, milk for the girls, D. Coke for me, DH and Mom ordered milkshakes, chocolate and strawberry. We got our drinks fairly quickly and our server took our order. We helped them eat their shakes, they were very tasty and the girls turned right around to help them! They were very thick and came with the straw that had the "spoon" type part at the end so that we could eat them. The chocolate one reminded me of the Frosty shake from Wendy's, a favorite of my Dh's.
We enjoyed watching the movie clips while we waited, but I was glad I had snacks in my bag for my little DD, she was very hungry and getting impatient. Even with all the milkshake!
Our server brought out our meals and what was wonderful was she had split the girls' pizza (I had said they would share the childrens pizza) onto two Mickey shaped plates and gave them both apple slices and carrots. This was very nice! The girls really enjoyed their pizza and apple slices, I cut up the carrots for DD1, she loves carrots.
I ordered the veggie burger with fries, it was very good. A Gardenburger type burger with grains, not a soy patty like a Boca burger. I had heard before that it was a Boca type, which I probably would have preferred, but this was really good. I asked for it with cheddar and mushrooms and it really was very good! The fries were awesome! Very crispy and tasty.
My DH ordered the burger with bacon and cheddar, he also really enjoyed his and also commented on how good the fries were.
My Mom ordered the chili and loved it! She even commented later that afternoon how good it was!
Sorry there aren't any pictures of the food! It was really dark in there and I felt awkward taking pictures! Here's a picture of DH, DD5 and I that our server took while Mom was with the baby in the bathroom.
Sci-Fi.jpg

Our meal came to about $60 + tip, which we actually thought was not too bad, considering we spent $55 or so at Sunshine Seasons the day before for a CS!
All in all we LOVED this restaurant! I liked it even more then Chef Mickey the night before. We will definitely return. DD5 was thrilled at having the Tom & Jerry cartoon too!

Oh my goodness, she's a tiny thing, precious.

Thanks for postin' that picture of the California roll. :goodvibes

It's on my list now. :lmao:

Oooh, I didn't know Sunshine Seasons had California Rolls. Does anyone know if they are an option on the DDP? That would be perfect for me! Thanks!

Your reviews are great! Keep 'em coming!

Yes, they are an option on the DDP! My sister isn't that keen on eating breakfast sometimes and when we stopped there, she was able to get a California roll along with a drink and dessert for a cs credit.
