We really enjoyed HOJO

likes....

The kids water play area was perfect for our 5 year old, she can't swim and it was shallow and safe and I could see her from every angle.

The room... bldg 1 6th floor on the end close to the freeway. With the balcony door open it was REALLY loud. With it closed I could barely hear it. With the fan on I could not hear it at all. The room was clean, comfy beds, plenty of room, extra sink, microwave, frig.,safe, nice size closet.

The view... dead center to the Matterhorn, fireworks every night, both pools.

I liked this bldg. it was easy access to kids pool, gift shop and office.

dislikes....

I felt the walk wasn't bad but it wasn't great for quick trips back to the room. My mom has feet issues and it was difficult for her to walk back & forth like that.

We could never find a close grocery store, we found a terrible Target that was out of most EVERYTHING!

We requested early check in and could not get in until 4PM

So all in all it is a great place to stay if you are on a budget and you can get the entertainment rate. I would stay there agian unless I could afford a resort hotel I was amazed at the closeness of GC hotel and would love to stay there sometime.

We just returned from the HoJo too. We were in building 1 on the 6th floor at the end also, but our family suite faced I 5 and the noise was VERY annoying. Even with the doors closed. I would not stay in a room facing the interstate again.

We really enjoyed the water park too! It was perfect for the kids.

The proximity to the parks was great. I would definitely stay there again!

Thanks for that info! We are going next week, staying in the King Suite, which is also in Building One and faces the park. Is that where you stayed, granismith?

I was planning on using the "market" at Hojo's for groceries and not trying to find a grocery store, as we will not have a car. Was the selection there not enough?

Just a question for you who have been to the HOJO. Does it have a complimentary continental breakfast? Right now we are wavering between the HOJO and the Tropicana. Thanks

Our room was a dbl queen so I am not sure if it will be exactly the same.

The gift shop has alot of snacks, soda, juice, water, wine, beer, things like sunscreen and medications, personal care products and gifts pretty much anything you need. A small bottle of water was about $2 I think so a little too expensive because we drink alot of water. We ended up getting most of our water at Target and when we ran out we had to buy it in the gift shop. But we bought alot of our snacks there because Target hardly had anything. I think next time I would try ordering ahead of time for the Von's delivery. If you have an entertainment book there is a coupon I think for a free delivery. Even with a car it is kinda hard and time consuming to try to find a grocery store.

I hope you have a great time! The weather was perfect while we were there.:)

Hi neighbor we probably saw each other at the pool!:) I never saw anyone coming or going on our floor of the hotel, it was strangely quiet even though I think it was pretty full!

I can imagine it was really noisy on your side, we couldn't even keep our balcony door open because it was too loud! We only went out to take pictures & watch the fireworks.

If you need a nearby grocery store. About 1.5 miles west on Katella from the Harbor and Katella is a Food4less. Across Euclid St. from the Food4less shopping center is also a BigK if you need general goods as well.

Howard Johnson hotel in Anaheim.

This HoJo does NOT have a complimentary continental breakfast.

Thank you so much. The cost difference between the HOJO and the Tropicana isn't that much and a free continental breakfast will help spread our Disney budget further :)

never stayed at tropicana but in your case i would stay there if cost is about the same

Like others said- the gift shop has many items if needed. You do pay for convenience, let's not forget that. You could take a cab to a local grocery store or drive. Or, you could save yourself an hour and pay another few $$'s to keep on keeping on. It's all perspective!

There is no breakfast, but between the microwave, fridge and sink, we have done countless breakfasts in-room that have been far better than the free continentals. And, hello? Keurig? Mmmmmm.

The water park is the deal-breaker for us. We love that there is such an immersive alternate to the park when part of the fam just needs a park break. We have always been treated like royalty by the staff. It is hard paying rack rate there when entertainment is not available. But, not because it isn't worth it, it's because they have spoilt the heck out of us. :)
