Just back from our annual WDW family trip and thought I'd share a few comments.
This is our third year in a row to WDW, second as DVC members. I was happy to see that everyone still loved Disney as I was concerned when we bought into DVC that it might wear off. It was crazy busy at times, this was our first October Trip (Sept and May for last trips). I don't think I'll go in Oct again.
Started at HS; and yes it is in severe need for more to do; expecially since our kids don't to RnRC or TOT. But we saw Bubba Fet, BB8, Groot and several at the Character Paloosa.
AK and the new Pandora land is great. Flight is every bit as awesome as advertised and was unanimously everyone's favorite ride. The River ride was fine, but not great. Pandora after dark was cool, but less so than expected. We went to the Rafiki's planet watch area and it was nice, but they had two monkeys on the operating table and that was really neat to see. Rivers of Light was nice, but I'll agree with comments from others; its a one time show for us. Definitely our lowest rated night time show.
MK on a Party day was nice and lower crowds. If we didn't have extra passes I'm not sure I would have done a party day, but it was good. Breakfast at Crystal Palace was fantastic. Much better than expected. the wife didn't want to go, but at the end it was her favorite meal of the trip. Except..... the kids ate too much and both tossed some back up. Ooops.
MK on a non-party day we arrived at 5pm after a morning at the pool. Oh Boy was it crowded. Trying to find a spot for the fireworks was insane. People were terrible, rude, obnoxious, and stopped in the walkway to watch fireworks and ignored several castmembers telling them to keep moving. It was the worst I've seen out of people at WDW. God bless the WDW cast members for what they have to put up with, just to hear guests complain about issues that are mostly caused by other guests. The new fireworks were cool, better I think than wishes.
TOTWL is awesome. Food was very good, atmosphere was great, view of the MNSSHP fireworks was fantastic. I'm a big fan.
Epcot was great as usual. Disappointed that Korea was not at F&W, but Thailand was a great replacement and our favorite of F&W. We did the Pixar Shorts for the first time; boy was that better than expected. I can't believe more don't mention it. Our kids loved the show and it was a very cool use of 3D. I wonder if its the same show each time?
Went to Beach N Cream for lunch for our DDs 7th birthday. That Kitchen Sink is AWESOME. DD loves ice cream and was thrilled. With 6 people we could not finish it, mostly leaving left over brownies which were great but heavy.
Speaking of DD's birthday, WDW was awesome all day. The Mariachi band serenaded her and sang happy birthday; she got a free dole whip; multiple happy birthdays; a special happy birthday call from Goofy. It was very special.
Last comment. Spirit of Aloha was fantastic. The show was awesome and the food was great; not Ohana great but very good. Service was good and we all liked the pineapple cake. I don't get people who say they food is terrible and the show boring. We all loved it. I think it's on par with HDDR while the wife and kids liked it better than HDDR. We also sat in the front and that was totally worth the extra cost, EXCEPT the rude turds from section 3 that kept getting up and standing in front of us to take pictures.
