Just Back 03/06... Lotsa Rehabs going on

I just got back from a great trip where I did the Backstage Magic tour... What a great tour!

I noticed Lots of rehab going on... screens and barriers are up all over... the Mickey Sorcerer hat and Chinese theater are completely blocked off... I hear 100 years is comming down, and 75 years of Mickey is going up!

Italy has a face lift going on...
Mission Space still being worked on...

Can you still get into The Great Movie Ride? This is one of our favorites in MGM.

No, the GMR is down at this time (at least it was earlier this week when I was there).

This is rehab season at the parks and the resorts. They do much more rehab during this season than another other time of year. It may be the weather in Florida, but most likely its so they are doing most of the rehab in the winter when the crowds are somewhat less than the summer.

Does that mean you can't see the sorcerer hat at all? I was looking forward to it!

Hat and swooping ears are definatly visible.... the surrounding wall is about 8 ft high, the hat is elevated about 4 steps off the ground you can still get the full effect of the massive hat!

They are removing the '100 years of magic' from the hat. The hat will remain, and become the new icon of MGM studios.

What is being done to Italy? Taking some friends (first-timers) and definitely wanted to "introduce" them to the living statues!

The Living Statues may be in France when you go . Look both places The last several months they have been in front of the French Restaurant.

And don't forget about all the road construction going on as well. 3 lanes closed down to one, but the traffic is light enough it is not that bothersome.
