Our second trip to WDW - Feb 4 - 12, 2004
Me - 41, DH - 40, DS - 14, DS - 9
I will try to make this short and sweet, if that is possible with WDW! Just wanted to give a brief rundown of our second trip to WDW, our first being Feb 03. First, Marla at Dreams Unlimited was wonderful, very responsive to ALL of my many questions and helped me tremendously with my reservation at POR and my PS's. Okay, here goes:
TRANSPORTATION: Tiffany Towncars, wonderful service. Disney buses, definitely no complaints. I felt sorry for the All Stars hotel people though! With the cheerleaders and crowds, their waiting lines at the parks were awful.
HOTEL: POR - very beautiful. Will definitely stay here again, but I wish the bathrooms were cleaner. Alot of mold on the shower liner, (how much do these cost people?) and the floor was definitely not mopped. But, all in all, very beautiful.
Friday - Downtown Disney, Rainforest Cafe was pretty good, then Fantasia Golf in the 40 degree weather. Wow. We are tough, it was a lot of fun though.
Saturday - AK - had a great time, weather was beautiful, crowd moderate, Tuskers for lunch which was delicious.
Sunday - Universal and IOA, a lot of good rides, especially Mummy and Spiderman, but definitely no magic there.
Monday - same as Sunday. BUT, my DH, who is the master of Men in Black, got bested - I kicked some major behind on the last game and beat him silly.
Tuesday - Epcot. Weather beautiful. Oh my gosh, where did those crowds come from? Fast Passes were used as much as possible, but we did not get to do as much as we wanted. Too long of a wait. Mission Space was a blast. I am such a chicken but I decided that I was going to at least try it and I am so glad I did. Wonderful. And we were able to do Test Track twice which we love. Got to see Kiros and Jammitors. Ate in the Japanese area, which was delicious, and I insisted on a pastry in France for an early dinner (hah, hah). Yum. And Illuminations will always be incredible.
Wednesday - early breakfast at Chef Mickeys. The characters were wonderful, service so-so, and food ho-hum. We actually liked Donald's Breakfast at AK more from our previous trip, and I have heard complaints from the boards about it. Hmmm. Then on to MK - weather still beautiful - oh the crowds, did I mention the crowds? DH was quite grumpy this day, oh those crowds. 45-60 minute waits all day, Fast Passes used but never got to ride Pooh or Peter Pan, and did Buzz only once. Up to 65 min at Space Mountain by end of the day. Could not convince DS 9 to try Stitch, I think he thought it was too much like Alien Encounter which he had heard about on the last trip. But DS 14 and DH tried it and thought it was cute. We like the burgers at Pecos Bills, so that was a no brainer. And then, the biggest treat at the end of the day, Wishes. I cried. Couldn't help it. It was so moving.
Thursday - MGM. Oh those crowds decided to follow us. Could only do ROR once, DS 9 was too short last time, and he wanted to do it more but just couldn't squeeze it in. We waited 40 min for Great Movie Ride. Wow. I could not bring myself to do TOT, couldn't last time either. But I had gotten DS's and DH Fast Passes which they used once. We had a late lunch at Prime Time, Topher was the best waiter. Completely harassed DS 14, I have never seem him so red. He took it in stride, food was delicious. But, I tell you what, our complete treat was the One Man's Dream exhibit here. We must have stayed about an hour and a half. At least. We all admire and love Walt. This was a museum like tribute to him, which finished in a film. All four of us were in awe. That was our highlight for this park. Towards evening I sat for a while at Fantasmic -DH took DS's to ride TOT one last time. Fantasmic was completely, utterly packed. Wonderful show.
Friday - Back to MK - weather still beautiful but COLD. And those crowds are still following us. Lots of waits, couldn't do Buzz again. Got Fast Passes right away for Peter Pan, which already had a 40 min wait. By the time the sun went down though the crowds thinned out. It was COLD. We actually rode Splash Mountain three times in a row because no one wanted to do it in the cold. But BTMR had a 40 min wait so we just went once on Fast Pass. And at the end of the day, which closed at 10:00, we stayed for Wishes even though I hadn't packed. And then I started to cry, and then I couldn't quit crying, and then DS 14 started with the tears, and then DS 9 started with the "when will we be back, when will be back", and I couldn't stop crying, so we had to wait around until I could get a hold of myself. Part of the problem is my DH made the declaration that we would not be back until at least 2008, he has other plans for 2006 and 2007, he doesn't get WDW like me and DS's do. He kind of, sort of enjoys certain things but it isn't with the complete awe DS's and I do. So, it was with sadness and the magic of MK that the tears came.
All in all, we had a wonderful time, the crowds were really a big surprise, but we managed. Castmembers, hmmmm, quite a few grumpy ones. Quite different than in 2003. We couldn't quite put our finger on it. We had a few that still had the magic with them, but it wasn't there for the majority. Not very many characters out, which increased the lines for the ones that did seem to appear. DS 9's autograph book did not have very many signatures due to this. But, all in all, I can say we truly did have a wonderful vacation.
