Just back – highs and lows (or should that be tricks and treats?)

Well what a fantastic trip! We had such a great time it is hard to know where to start but here goes:

Highs:

THE WEATHER!!! It was like high summer and just could not be better. We went up in the balloon early one morning in T-shirts and could sit outside in the dark in the evenings similarly dressed. OK, we had to buy sun hats but I can live with that! Everything looked so beautiful and we just relished in the sunshine.

The Cheyenne – a pleasant surprise this as we have not always had the best experiences here but it represented the best combination of price, theming, bunk beds plus washing machine and ice making facilities so we had plumped for it again. It all looked pristine on the outside and our room was as requested in terms of location and being on the ground floor. It was very clean and this time there was nothing broken or missing in the room. It is a lovely site to spend a summer’s evening in and even the breakfasts were much calmer at this time of year – no scrums for tables or all the fresh milk machines running out at once. No long queues for reception or check-in either.

All the cast members were friendly and some of the characters merited a special mention, namely Gaston, John Darling, Captain Hook, Aladdin and the lovely princess Ariel who kindly brought over other characters for us.
We met two of our now long-term CM friends, Graziella who we hadn’t seen for a while but who spotted us from her new position on the Buzz Lightyear ride and Carinne on the Peter Pan ride who we had to say farewell to as it was her last day.

Panoramagique. We love this although it can feel if it is over before it has begun but this time we actually had a decent time afloat and were able to get a beautiful view as well as space to walk around the “basket” with only one other family on board.

Big Thunder Mountain in the dark TWICE ROUND! This was amazing, we have never ridden it in the dark before. We had the last ride on the Saturday night. The park was meant to close at 8 but it must have been about half past by the time we got on and so was really dark. Wow! It was so good and then when we got to the end the cast members asked if we wanted to go round encore. Did we?!! We were right at the back and that was definitely the best ride of the trip.

Loved the two Halloween shows, especially the hub one. The castle stage show was good too but a little disorganised as to the seating on the floor in front (it was the first showing of the season though) and although I will never gripe about the sun, I couldn’t take any decent photos because it was watching right into the sun! (That’s when DH had to rush off and buy emergency sun-hats)

The park certainly wasn’t as decorated as when we went two years ago for Halloween but then it was fun discovering new things and with the weather as it was we were far too happy to think about what might have been missing.

There was a great selection of Villains in Frontierland and there we saw Jack Skellington and Sally, Dr Facillier, Captain Hook, Maleficant, Snow White’s wicked witch, Frollo, the Sheriff of Nottingham and Bowler Hat Guy from Meet the Robinsons which I was particularly pleased about as I love that film.

As you are probably getting bored by now I will just add the one and only low – which wasn’t:

Low season crowd levels!

Honestly, what more could we have asked for? High season weather with low season crowds – impeccable!

Wow! Sounds like you had an amazing trip!! :thumbsup2

Glad to be reading this after a couple of negative posts creeping in over the last 2 or 3 days. :goodvibes

This was such a delight to read, you've got me itching to go!

I've never wanted to try Panoramagique, but now I'm considering giving it a try, and I'm so jealous about your two goes around Big Thunder Mountain - it's just so much more magical in the dark. :lovestruc

Also that list of villains is making me want a halloween trip now! :rotfl:

glad you had such a great trip will you being a TR would love to see pics of all those characters!

Brilliant :goodvibes

Reminds me of some off the off season trips we had in the past. The lower crowd levels really make a difference don't they.

Welcome back, really pleased you had a lovely trip. Riding BTM in the dark is the best:thumbsup2

hi, sounds like you had a fab time!!

can you tell me how much it is to go in the balloon please?? do you know is it only for hotel guests or can anyone have a go? saw it when we were there in august and really would love to go in it

thanks
sharon

Hi,
welcome back
what a fantastic trip. it sounded like everything went perfect!

Great report, the parks have a different atmosphere at night.

Thank you for your kind comments which encouraged me to write my first ever trip report. I watched the tutorial here, opened a photobucket account and have just spent a couple of hours on a very slow computer (too clogged up with photos and videos according to DH) uploading my chosen pics. Of course in this time I had been logged out (I only ever seem to be given seconds) and when I went to log in again I lost it all - arghhhh

Same with me - I can never seem to stay logged in unless I'm repeatedly posting, and clearing my cookies doesn't help either. :confused3 I've learned the hard way to write it up on word and then copy and paste it - also if I've lots of photos I only post a couple at first then I edit the post so as I can add some more.

Hope you'll still carry on with the trip report. ::yes::

Good idea - I'll try again tomorrow. I have just managed to put a couple of photos on a thread above, so hey, I must be getting something right!
