Just awful...and right before Christmas too

I watch the news every morning, and every morning there are awful stories about people being murdered, and assorted other tragedies. And I always think how awful they are, especially when they happen right before Christmas. Of course, a murder anytime is horrifying, but it's seems especially hard this time of year.

Well I just found out a few moments ago that someone I knew was murdered yesterday. Shot in the abdomen by two thugs during a home invasion. I can't help but weep for his family...his beautiful little girl who won't have her dad at graduation or to walk her down the aisle.

The family must be devastated.

WHY??? HOW??? It's just so wrong.

I'm so sorry about your friend..

I know what you mean about the news at this time of year.. So many people murdered; killed by drunk drivers; house fires; etc.. All I can think of is how those families will get through the holidays with their "special someone" suddenly and unexpectedly ripped out of their lives..

Quite a few years ago there was a horrible accident locally.. One or two 30-something women returning home from Christmas shopping in the evening with several children in the car.. Can't recall the exact details of what happened, but 2 or 3 of the kids were killed (4 and under) - one being the neice of the driver (her brothers DD).. If I remember correctly the driver was not at fault in any way, but can you imagine those poor families involved? It was very, very close to Christmas and it just about broke my heart in half..
