Actually gate checked items aren't always retrieved at the gate. On more then one occasion I have gate checked an item and then was told it was at the carousel not at gate check when we deplaned.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, I suggest reaching out to the airline again and then ordering another stroller, I know it might not be in budget but with 2 young kids it will make the trip easier, so try and have the airline pay, or rearrange some things in your plans, and don't let this ruin your trip!!!

This (bags going to baggage claim) is more likely to happen with bags than with mobility equipment, and regularly happens (on full-size planes on a number of US airlines) when there is no more overhead/in cabin bag space available.

I know how important the right stroller can be. My son (on the spectrum) needed a stroller when her was maybe 6. I had to buy a very specific type to hold a child that big. It would have severely impacted our trip if it were lost. It would have been almost impossible to replace quickly and easily. I am glad you are staying for so long-this gives you more time to find something. Honeslty I'd send your husband back to the airport -they need to take care of you one way or the other immediately.

If it's the airline's fault they should comp you for it. If it was my husband he would go on Amazon and find a Prime 1 day City mini and have it there the next day. Then sell it when we got back for a minor loss.

We may be a bit crazy like that but we can't do cheap strollers.
Not crazy. Brilliant. This is what we'd do too. We had a city select for our twins. Used it for three years before selling it for $700. We paid $900. Those things hold their value. Get in the Internet and do this!!!!

So sorry this happened - a pain for sure - hopefully, you can get it back soon or use some of these great suggestions. I did want to say that if you take the amazon route to look at the 'used' offers; can get GREAT deals. And the word 'used' really isnt right, most items have just a damaged box, or possibly opened and resealed (they tell you the 'issue' in the description, so you now before you buy). i have gotten some amazing deals this way and nothing has even been wrong with any of it. Good luck and try to not get too stressed about it - hard when you plan so well - but you can 'fix' it one way or the other.

ps - I took the $2.00 bus to Walmart when my Dh's luggage was lost about 10 yrs ago....worked out well.

Another example of why you should NEVER have separate bags for each person when traveling. Each bag should have a little of EVERYONE'S clothes. If a bag goes astray, one person doesn't go naked!!!

Eh, it worked out great for us. Hubby has a whole new wardrobe courtesy of BA!

I think you have gotten lots of great advice so just wanted to chime in that I hope it is found quickly.
We went to the Florida Keys when DS was 3 months old and Southwest (temporarily) lost our car seat and stroller. We had gate checked them and they were not at the gate on our layover city, the gate attendant told me not to worry they would be at the gate of our final destination...we got there and they said they would be on the carousel...after an hour there they realized the original gate agent at the departing airport tagged them for the carousel in the connecting city. They had a car seat we could use but no stroller. After a couple days and many hours on the phone with them UPS delivered our stroller and car seat to us. It didn't ruin our trip but was definitely a hassle.
Pixie dust coming your way!

So I'm curious, OP. Did you have any luck checking with the gate?

What did the airline say about the missing stroller?

Just wanted to say how sorry I was VA lost your lovely stroller. I live in fear they will lose my wheelchair. I know it happens and you can get another but you get attached to an item. I live in it!

I wish we were there at the same time. We are coming too late in September. My wife and I would gladly drive to Walmart for you and pick up a cheap stroller.

I hope VA find it. If not hit lost and found at MCO perhaps. Good luck.

I would just go ahead and buy one of the red and black strollers at the resort gift shop. We had to do that on our last trip - I think it was $35 or $40? - and it was much better quality than the cheapie $15 one we had brought from home to use on vacation then throw away (our son decided to break the foot-rest strap and rendered that one trash). Plus, that saves the time you would need to carve out to Uber, Bus or Yellow Cab-it over to Target or Walmart to buy one.

I would still contact the airline and try to get my own stroller back, but with a 2 year old, I would need something right away for use in the parks and whatnot.

I am so sorry for the people being judgey and rude on this board. In what world people think it is any of there concern how much extra cash you brought is beyond me. Don't listen to their sour attitudes. Amazon Now has strollers (decent ones) that will deliver within 2 hours of your order. Whatever you do (be it buy or rent) save the receipt and file for reimbursement from the airlines.

When someone posts info on a message board they kind of make it everyone's business.

I think you're interpreting some posts wrong. The PPs who made comments about emergency travel funds are offering sound advice for both the OP and anyone reading. One of the benefits of posters sharing experiences on a forum like this is that the rest of us travelers can learn from others' mistakes or problems that arise. I didn't see any sour attitudes.

For the OP, I hope you've found a way to resolve it by now. If the airline gives you hassle about compensation, stay on them. We've had to do this with Delta before. Good luck!

OP, please let us know how it turned out for you. I hope you were able to get your stroller without money out of pocket.

Well, if you are the kind of person who is "devastated" by the (almost surely temporary) loss of a stroller (an item that can be temporarily replaced easily and cheaply), then there was no chance you were going to be satisfied by your trip anyway. Get yourself together, buy a stroller, and don't drag your son any further into this mindset.

Wow! How negative.

Sometimes in life, one little thing is just enough to pierce your armor and get you really down and upset you. It could be a rude person when you're having a bad day. It could something little happening at work that spins you up. Or it could even be the airline losing your stroller after a stressful and long flight.

It happens to all of us. If it hasn't happened to you yet, it will.

Feelings are subjective earlier this year I was close to dying in hospital with liver failure and on about 4 drips. Somebody stole my Disney watch it was only $25 but oh how I cried ..I was so upset!
