Just another pin complaint!

From reading other threads, I know this happens to everyone, but I want to complain too!!!

So in the last two to three years (before we could afford yearly WDW trips with me being a poor college student before) we would get pin offers all the time! I know I at least got 2 in the mail, and tons by email. Now that we can afford WDW, the offers have all dried up. The last pin I got? Free parkhopper and water park. Blah. We are def not a park-hopping family!


I know that we should be grateful to get a pin at all, but still.

Rant over And let me just say, that I still love WDW with all my heart even though they make me mad sometimes.

The tone implies there is something wrong with park hopping.

Oh no I didn't mean it like that! I meant that my son is 5 and gets tuckered out pretty fast. (and me too! lol) We couldn't handle 2 parks in a day. Maybe when he's older.

Pins irritate me as they are exclusive, and this is less fair than something everybody can use, IMO. And between 30% and 35% room offers and free dining, kids stay and play free offers, etc. I don't understand why anybody NEEDS a pin?

I do agree with you as far as pin#'s go I would rather have a room discount than free park hoppers and water parks option.

IMHO Park Hopping is ideal when you have little ones or as in the case of DH and I , mature adults who need a mid-day break. I love going to one park in the morning and a different park in the evening , especially if say you want to see Wishes but do not want to deal with all the crowds during the day at MK you can just hop over in the evening , same thing applies to DHS which tend to be terrible on days Fantasmic is showing, tis nice to just head there in the evening hours. You might want to try it, to me it makes the vacation seem to last longer

Given the fact the economy has still not recovered and many families have less disposable income, I would not be surprised if Disney still offers the exclusive and General Pins codes for the 4th quarter.

Oh, I absolutely believe that and haven't thought for one moment that they wouldn't offer the general public discounts. I believe they have adopted a policy of packing the parks and know they can't do that without the discounts.

It's just that I'd sort of like to get the show on the road. I can't buy plane tickets until I know for sure what dates we're talking about.

For me it's the principle of the thing. I'm an AP holder who goes to Disney several times a year and yet I have NEVER received a PIN. Even if I don't use it, I want one. Last January when the GP code came out for most dates in 2011 I booked two trips (May and Sept). When the AP code came out I switched that May trip to the better AP code. While I was down there earlier this month I switched the Sept trip to the better Bounceback code and also used the bounceback code to book anther trip for late Nov/Dec. When the AP codes come out I figure they'll probably beat those bounceback deals I booked, so I'll be switching again. So yeah, I do get to use discount codes, BUT I WANT a PIN, just because it seems like everyone else gets one!!! I''m tired of being left out! It makes me feel like the proverbial red headed step child.

1) Pins provide some certainty. If a family needs a discount to plan a vacation (and you do read comments to that effect) they can be sure of whether they can go. Not all pin offers are published well in advance. In other cases people simply want some surety of their budget.

2) General public discounts are not always available. For our trip in mid June, the only GP discount is on deluxes which still would have cost us more to use than our planned resort.

I have been hearing a lot of rumblings from CMs that the PINS and discounts are drying up. The economy is starting to turn and Disney is looking to increase the revenue stream. Nope. Not buying it. When the unemployment rate starts to tumble, right along with the price of gas (which jumped 12 cents here yesterday), I'll say the economy is starting to turn.

The discounts will be be there for the times they have traditionally been there.

I'm waiting on December, which traditionally has not been announced until mid-summer.

Now that it is....

I would like a PIN, too, but I have no doubt I won't get one....it's just the way my luck runs. However, I do believe the economy is not recovering well and Disney will offer discounts for the fall. At least....I'm really, really, really hoping since we're going in October. I would prefer free dining, but I'll take a room discount if that's the only thing offered.

Yeah, I'm 80% sure that I won't be back to Disney for over a year, and I've gotten just about every pin imaginable. Let's just hope they stick out until my next trip.

I have it on good authority that Disney sometimes pulls credit to see how much you make before offering a pin. Can anyone corroborate this? Sorta shady if you ask me.
