Why is it that my "students" feel they can just blow off appointments with me? OR even better, call 7 minutes before they are supposed to be here and call to say they can't make it. Well it must be that my time isn't as important as theirs. I am going to start charging for cancelled appointments just like the doctors.

Any lessons my DD had I was expected to pay for if I cancelled at the last minute. You have every right to do that.

Are you a tutor? Or a music teacher?

My son took trombone lessons and my daughter took flute lessons. We always paid the teacher the full price for the lesson on the days that we had to cancel. (Which was only 2 times in several years.)

No, I run a real estat school. When my students fail their final, they are allowed to retake once, so they make an appointment with me. It is obviously not important at all. I had 3 either cancel at the last minute or just not show up this week.
