Just Added On - Now I have banking questions

We just added on at VWL(150- two 75 point contracts), February use year and get the points this year. We have used or have reservations for all but 2 points of our original SSR contract(250 pts) for the year. Is each contract treated independently in regard to banking points? I don't know at this point if we will be able to use the VWL points this year. Do I have to bank the whole 150 by August 1st(6 months) OR are all 400 treated as one and since we have used 248, can we wait until October to bank the new 150 + 2, since this would be the 50% banking deadline?

I hope this isn't too confusing.

Also, I didn't think about it when purchasing but I assume we will be responsible for the maintenance fees on these 150 points this year as well, right? Is this prorated based on when we bought or is it all the way back to February?

I am so excited about VWL ownership(our absolute favorite dvc) :yay: but I am seeing headaches in the future trying to manage these points. :teacher:

If the recent points were an add-on thru Disney, all of your points are in one contract and the banking deadlines will be based on 400 points.

Annual fees are usually prorated based on the date of purchase (not necessarily closing date). If you purchased today (for example) you would owe 9 months of fees instead of 12 months. They are based on the calendar year - not on the Use Year.

While you can wait until the last day to bank the points, there is no penalty for banking earlier. If you later decide to travel before next Feb, you could always borrow points from your 2007 Use Year.

If the contracts are indeed Add-on contracts, purchased thru Disney, then yes, all points are combined to determine banking percentages. If your total is 400 points, then at the 50% point you may bank (or have banked) up to 200 points.

If the contracts are separate master contracts (purchase resale and not as add-on's), then the banking percentages would apply separately to each contract.

When purchased thru Disney, maintenance fees are pro-rated, and I'm pretty sure it's to when you purchased.

This news makes life much easier. This is indeed an add-on from Disney so it appears I will have less headaches managing these points. Bonus: We will also have extra time to figure out if we can swing a Christmas trip to see family in Florida...and use some of the points enroute.

One last question. When will we be able to make reservations? We paid in full on Friday but no contracts signed yet,of course. Do we have to wait until closing? Christmas is filling up fast - need to make those reservations just in case. Nothing like a little "Mickey" to melt that stress away while visiting the in-laws :goodvibes .
 

Since it was an add on from Disney, you should be able to use the points immediately. Call on Monday.

We purchased an add-on as a cash sale Thursday afternoon and were in the reservation system Friday. Ressies made that afternoon.
