People always ask what is your favorite resort. Why don't Disney make a Disney themed resort, I mean like different character themed rooms. I don't mean anything tacky, something tastefully done. It is what I would expect to come to WDW and see. It is just a thought!

When I was a kid, and my parents took me to Disney world, I always thought it was odd that the hotels weren't more Disney themed. I guess you could think of the contemporary as the "Disney" themed resort. It's theme does allow for a lot of mickey and friends to be integrated in to it.

Disney was always on the bleeding edge of the future... animatronics, tomorrowland, etc. So, "modern", which is the theme of the contemporary, is seen throughout Disney.

It is the ART in the 1-2 bedrooms of BLT, those Disney touches as well as the amenities that make a BLT add on so tempting to me. Those villas really make me feel like I'm at WDW, and DH felt the same way.

I call these Value Resorts, there are Disney Charatures at every turn there.

I thought of the same thing. I think that's about as character-centric as you'll see in a Deluxe resort.

There was some recent talk of changing the theme of Pop Century to something with more characters but the timing on that seems suspect with all of Disney's spending cuts.

When Disney came up with the contest to win a night in Cinderella's Castle I thought it was cool, but I couldn't imagine spending a week there. The POP is closest in Disney theme and I compare it to the Nickleodeon Hotel, but as an adult I think that the Parks and the Character dining etc. give me enough Disney kitch & atmosphere that I don't need to sleep in a birth on the Black Pearl to feel the full Disney experience, that is unless of course they can get Johnny Depp to wait on me hand and foot! :worship: Then I'm in!

Yeah, but I mean tastefully done. Nothing like the value resorts! :goodvibes

Easy.... You're delving into dangerous territory. Fortunately, you're on the DVC boards. There's another world out there that thinks we're nuts, and they're just a couple forums over. ;)

I have noticed it is one extreme to the next. We stayed in All star movies for one night, the room was over a hundred dollars. Which in reality should have been twenty dollars a night. I am retired from the Army and I know what it means to so call rough it, Saudi, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Egypt, Iraq, Afirca, on and on. This room was so nasty it was falling apart, the beds looked like someone stood up and peed on them and the walls, mold all over the shower and ceiling. If you opened the dresser draws the front panels come off or they just don't open. Needless to say we did not not make it very long my Wife was scared of something biting her in the bed. I laughed at the whole thing but my wife did not think it was funny. I told several people they just laughed. I don't know how the other ones are but I will never stay in a value resort again even if it is free. So they can Flame me all they want I have earned the right to my opinion.

I may be in the vast minority, but I do not or have not ever had any desire to stay at the contemporary resort. We go to Chef Mickeys there, but it seems to me like any other convention hotel here in Chicago. I think it has the least Disney feel! Very cold feeling to me. I love the DVC resorts, but I have to agree that the value resorts like All Stars have the most Disney feel to them. It took us awhile to get used to the Villas. We love OKW though.

Agreed; the Value Resorts are themed out the WAAZOO. DVC should be more tasteful and the items in the rooms at CR & BLT are done well.
However; when we spend the whole day submerged in Disney in the parks it is nice to relax away from it all (a bit) in the resorts without Mickey and friends in your face. WE LOVE DISNEY! But if we see it 24-7 then it kinda dulls it down for us. It would be like having Christmas all year long. One would get sick of it and need a change. Yes, DVC membership is like being a captive audience to Disney things however DVC is so much more than just going to WDW or DL.
