I've been hearing a lot about people missing out on some of their favorite attrctions because they booked their trip while the ride was being refurbished. It is such a tragedy. I thought of something...

Research BEFORE YOU GO! :teacher:

Like, right now Buzz (one of my favs!) is being refurbished. So many people booked their trip at this time and were so dissapointed. :sad1:

Look at what is not open before you spend thousands of dollars on those non refundable tickets.

Good advice unless you can only go certain time of the year though or it is a last minute refurbishment

We have to book 11 months out and sometimes you just can't get that info even rumors.
But thats fine now as I will begoing at the minimum of every 6 months so if it's down now it will only be better when we get to it the next time.

Some people can only go or prefer to go at certain times of the year. Most people book over a year in advance. Yes, some people can go whenever but I'd say most vacationers can not plan their entire trip around one ride.

Exactly, we just returned from 8 days at POP.
Our favorite ride is BUZZ & we went, knowing about the refurbishment.
We are going again in May, when another favorite...POTC...will be under refurbishment. Oh well!

We are going Feb 18 thru Feb 25. We were hoping the Wonders of Life will be opened.

How do you find out what is closed & what is not.

Thanks

Patricia

Go to the DIS home page.

Look under "RECENT UPDATES" for the "refurbishment schedule" & click on that.

It's right there. :)

Wonders of Life has not been open for years.

You can check refurb schedules on www.wdwig.com :)

After only booking our March trip about a month ago, and spending almost every day playing "pirates" with my 4 year old, singing the POTC theme song, getting him excited about going on the ride for the first time, telling him about the first time mommy rode it when she was a little girl.... blah blah blah, I come to find out today they are closing for rehab.
I don't think any amount of "research" would have helped, considering it isn't even listed under rehabs on the disney site yet.
What it boils down to is quite frankly, is yes, I am very disappointed, but it is a RIDE. A RIDE at a theme park folks. Let's try to keep things in perspective!!!!!!

Disney Dreamer, as an alternative since pirates is closed, have you looked into this?

Pirate Adventure - Children wear pirate bandannas and follow clues to search Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon for buried treasure. They sail to many exotic "ports of call" (Resort Marinas) to collect treasure. Children who are potty trained (no pull-ups) and ages 4-10 may attend. Lunch is provided (Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Gummy bears, Krispy Treat and Juice box).

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Available to all guests, Cost is $28.17 plus tax.
Reservations 90 days in advance 407-WDW-DINE

This takes place at the Grand Floridian. Just a thought...

bummer for people like me though who looked at the list, was ok with it, booked her trip and just a couple days ago found out that Pirates JUST went into refurbishment.

Exactly. Case in point - POTC, during peak season.

That is my case. I booked in October and had no idea that it would be closed. I research EVERYTHING before i book, but unfortunately it is being refurbished when we will be there.
