On my next WDW vacation I'd like to try some more restaurants. But can I just order a starter or a dessert? Or is that some kind of weird?

Any resturant that we have ever been in WDW has always been more than accomodating if we wanted to do things a bit differently so to speak. I have ordered appetizers as main courses, split meals with my kids and a few times my DD (14) has had dessert or a side item as her meal simply because she really didn't eat anything else on the menu and what the heck we are on vacation so that sort of thing is what vacation is for! ;)

Enjoy your trip and I hope you are able to try new places and find some that become new favorites! :goodvibes

As long as you arfe not on the DDP you cn order anything you want on the menu.

There is absolutely no rule at restaurants (at WDW or in the real world) stating that you are obligated to order from specific parts of the menu such as the entree section in order to be allowed to dine in the restaurant. Or what you'd like and pay for what you order. It's as simple as that.

The only exception of course is a fixed price meal. If you get the Fantasmic package for example then you will pay the same price even if you just order dessert. You can do it if you'd like but that'll be very expensive dessert.

Heck yea! When we ate at Tutto Italia, I got an antipasto platter for my meal. It was huge and everyone at the table helped with it. Then I had the tiramisu for dessert.

When we went to Ruth's Chris (not at WDW, obviously), I did the same thing. A tomato and mozzarella salad for my dinner and tiramisu for dessert.

DH and I are vegetarian and often split a few appetizers instead of getting a main entree. We've never gotten any gruff from the waiters. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for your answers!

I think as long as you don't stiff them on the tip, they're very accomodating!:rotfl2:
