Just a friendly warning...BonTon ships in original boxes

Since I'm basically a single mom, I have to buy my own gifts, but I usually find a way to get them to my youngest DDs so they think I don't know. I ordered myself a couple of Keurigs (one for work, one for home) and asked 24yo DD to be on the lookout for 2 boxes from BonTon. I admittedly failed to tell her the contents. The 2 machines showed up on the front porch today and rather than look at the labels closely or make any kind of connection, 24yo announced in front of everyone that my "new shinies" were here. :sad2: I tried to pull the "I don't know what you're talking about", but youngest DDs were on to me. Now I don't know what to do as those were to be my only gifts due to the $$$ spent.

So, thanks BonTon for saving the darned environment. :rolleyes1 And, FYI, in case someone else was hoping to hide the contents. (at least Amazon warns us)

I'm confused.... :rolleyes1 Do you mean you buy your own gifts for yourself and say they are from your kids?

But I do hate how things aren't covered. I had a computer printer show up on my front door so everyone driving by could see it.

Why isn't the 24 yr old buying your Christmas presents instead of you buying them for yourself. She can easily take the young one out shopping while you are at work or even in the evening and have them pick something out, wrap it and put it under the tree. She's an adult now.

Really? Never been to one, but the quality of the clothing my IL's would buy DH and the kids from there was horrible! We don't have one by us, so the stuff ended up goodwilled, but I assumed it was a store a step up from Walmart. Our upscale department stores are along the lines of Nordstroms and Neiman Marcus.

Depends on the BonTon you visit and depends on the Macys you visit. We shop everywhere and while I can go to Macys in DC or Tysons Corner, they are very upscale, but take me to a Macys in York PA, or Hagerstown MD and they carry very little of the brands I like (Calvin Klein, JNY, Colombia). Same thing with BonTon. If you go to some in PA they are tiny like a Marshalls, or you can go to the flagship store in York PA (Galleria) which is huge and carries every brand the company sells. (There are 4 Bontons in York, PA.) The Hanover PA store is new and beautiful and carries a huge stock of the items I buy. But if you go to the Chambersburg, PA or the Martinsburg WV stores, they are old and carry a limited amount of brands. While Bonton is just under Macys, but nowhere near Nordstroms or Lord and Taylor, I would classify them well above Pennys and Kohls, but nowhere near Walmart. I guess I shop more than most.

LOL, you get around town here more than me. LOL I hate the Bon Ton at Queensgate.

Add me to the confused...You buy your own gifts but didn't want your DD's to know?? Where do they think they come from? If it's important to you or them for mom to have gifts, why not give them a small amount of money ($10) and have your older DD take them shopping.

DH and I aren't big gift people. Many years our only gifts are the small things that our children buy us.

OMG, me too! Yes, we are crazy. I was looking for something a few months ago during the last Yellow Dot sale and went to the 3 Bontons near me (Hagerstown, MD, Martinsubrg, WV, and Frederick, MD) couldn't find it, so we ventured out to York, knowing that there are 4 in that area. We managed to find the Queensgate one and yuck! it had to be the worse Bonton I've ever gone to. It was like being in a thrift store. We had just left the Galleria one, so you can imagine the difference. So if you've never been to Hanover, PA one, you should try it, it's a new store and just beautiful, though nothing like the flagship one at Galleria.

Hanover is actually part of York. My ILs live there and most dont admit to that (it is part of York). :rotfl:

I haven't been to that one yet. Is it on the M Mile?
