We had to cancel an August reservation at HH two weeks before it was due. It is in a holding account and we are looking at what to do with our points. Of the options that work best for us, our holding account points come out 4 or 5 points less than what we need. (If we go one day less we would lose out on 30 or so.)

We can't borrow for this..so we're trying to figure out if there is a way we can just buy/rent the extra points.

I know owners rent points from others, but this is such a small amount I wasn't sure if there was an easier way....

Your only options to get a few more points for a reservation are to "borrow" from your next Use Year or have points transferred into your account by another member. There is no way to "buy" the few additional one-time points from DVC. It is sometimes difficult to find someone willing to transfer a small number of points (because that would be their only transfer for the year) , but many have been successful on the Rent/Trade Board.

You might want to post a request on the R/T board - be sure to title it "Point Transfer Wanted".

Thanks for the help...and I agree that renting would be rough with so few points needed too. I guess I'd better figure out exactly what we hope to do and then I can try to request...

....or not!

My first thought was that there was my solution....but I have a February use year, so I couldn't bank them, could I?

A more expensive solution, but with long term benefits is to do a 25 Point add-on at your current resort. This would give you the few points you need and then you can bank the rest. Disney usually waives banking rules on new contracts and add's, so the remaining you can bank into next year. Then you will have the additional points to use in the future.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the thought....that would work...will have to think about whether we want to spend the money.
