Ever dream of something you want so bad in this world and then wake up only to realize it was just a dream?

Yep, and its so annoying!!! I hate it. I once dreamed that I got into this University that I wanted horribly to go to, but but after waking up, and realizing that I wasn't going there made me sad.

Actually, no.
Not that I remember, at least.
I usually have dreams that are horrible/incredibly bizzare.
I'm always relived to find out they never happened.

I usually have the most weird and disturbing dreams anyone can think of...and I have NO idea why. I used to always dream about ghosts and haunted places.

After memorizing a solioque about a man debating whether to live or die, I dreamt of someone I know committing suicide...let me tell you I woke up and tried SOO hard not to fall back asleep...man, I hated that!!

I would LOVE to find out what dreams mean. I know humans only use a VERY VERY small fraction of their brains and it is believed that psychics are the way they are because they have the ability to use another small fraction of their brains that most people are not capable of...if you believe in them.

Dreams can be so unnaturally weird...I just want to know why and what this dreams tell us.

I have two different kinds of dreams:

Repetitive dreams:
These dreams are rarily happy, and usually involve me, or the person I am dying. Or something along those lines, where I try to scream but I can't scream loud enough. These dreams always go the same, and a lot of the time, if somehow I realize that I'm dreaming I will force myself awake.
And one of these reptitive dreams, is falling off a cliff. And when I wake up. My arms and legs are spread out like I was making a snow angel.

New dreams:
Usually these are my happy dreams, or odd dreams that never come back. I've had dream where stuff I've wanted to happen for so long happen, or I'm in Disney. But I've also had some odd ones where one of my friends is destroying my bike.
I never have those strange dreams where there's a purple elephant or speaking staplers, my dreams are most of the time sane and realistic.

One thing I hate about dreams:
I was at my house, but it wasn't really my house. (Like where it's your house, but IRL it looks nothing like it)

Babyjustrun...lol a lot of that sounds the same for me! lol Here is my chart of dreams...(as you so inspired me to create this haha)

My "spooky" dreams or dreams that occure that make no sense as to why I dream them...

These dreams happen more often than not and they seem completely separated from what actually happens in my life. It makes me question how I could possibly even vision this.

I once had a dream (several years ago but I still remember it so vividly...you would to if you saw what I did that night lol). I was with my friend and we were walking to see the 4th of July fireworks. We took our grandpas and they were both in wheelchairs (neither of them need wheelchairs). We walked by a building but it look like a pentagon shapeded building on it's side and the door was at the very top. My friend and I mysteriously got in and the top floor was a library. We walked around and the only noise we heard was the stamping from the librarian. The lights were dim-like and things seemed out of place. We separated and I walked to a new room with a balcony that overlooked the next floor down. Everything was white with a gray tint in this room/hallway. I stopped and watch as a boy went screaming down the lower floor (he was about 6-7 years old and wearing a hospital gown). I ran back to my friend and we jumped into an elevator and it went down...but the floor number increased as we went down. We got to floor #25...I think...and it was another white-like hallway. The hallway was lined with rooms like a hospital and the lights were off and the doors were all open to them. Except one room...a light was on. There were pillars linning the hallway and my friend and I walked down. We looked into the rooms and each had one hospital bed in it. We stopped at the lighted room and looked in. A kid was in the bed screaming as several people surrounded him holding butcher knives. They were all dressed like the grim reaper and had small red eyes. One of the guys turned and looked at us. We ran back to the elevator and got in and started pushing floors. As the doors were closing, we saw one of the "reapers" swing out of the room and look at us. The doors closed and we felt safe...until we each felt a hand on our sholders. We turned around and it was the "reaper" hold a butcher knife. We screamed and the floor number lit up to be #35. We knew there was something horrible about that floor and figured (before we got there) that we needed to be on any floor EXCEPT 35. (I have no idea why we thought that). Then my friend ran out and the "reaper" followed her. I went back up to floor 1, the library and ran outside. That was the end of it...

Then there are my odd dreams or the ones that aren't scary...just make no sense.

This one dream I had, we were parked outside my grandparents house and my mom needed to take a shower and my dad wanted to excerise on a "still" bike (ones that you put on rollers but don't go anywhere if you know what I mean). And we had this small bowl with a drop of water. My parents told us not to let that drop of water disappear (like drink it or something) because that was the only water left in the world and without it we would die. (Though we were next to a pool and my mom was taking a shower lol). The shower was curtained off near the pool (outside) and near the shower my dad was excerising. My sister and I turned away and when we turned back, there was a white man with a huge afro sitting on a stool outside the car in short short and no shirt, drinking the last drop of water. lol.

Then there are my haunted dreams.
These are the kind of dreams I have about ghosts and things haunting out house. I get those a lot.

Then there are my fear dreams. About the things that I am most afraid of.

I have so many dreams about tornados heh. Dreams were I'd have to run across the street and bring my grandparents over to our house when I see a tornado coming this way.

The dreams were I can't run or scream

It would happen when I am afraid (like in my tornado or dinosaur dreams) and something would be coming after me and I would scream but nothing would sound out of my mouth and I can't run. I would try to run fast, but it't like I'm trying to run through quick-sand.

Then there are the dreams that this thread is about.

These dreams I get less often and when I do get them, I think about them the rest of the day. The things I want so badly and have wanted for so long and in my dream it feels like real life. I even think to myself in the dream, "thank God this isn't a dream". I am so happy in the dream. Then I wake up and I realize...it WAS a dream.

Then there are the "real life" dreams.

Where a dream is so incredibly normal, you swear it is real. I hardly EVER get these. I think only once. However, all my dreams seem SOO VERY real, just not normal, at all lol.

Babyjustrun, I know what you mean my when it's your house, but it isn't lol. I get that A LOT.

Let me tell you about my experience with a dream I had about a week and a half ago.
It was SO bad, that I woke up at 3AM (after going to bed at 2AM) in my COLLEGE BED, in a terrible sweat, wandering the halls looking for someone to comfort me. Upon finding no one, I called my mom, slumped down in the middle of the hallway and balled my eyes out. I got to the point of almost hyperventilation and I was shaking beyond belief.

Yeah...gotta love those dreams.

Sometimes I think that dreams are an alternate reality. A spectre of what is happening somewhere else at some other time. After studying Astronomy, I have found that the universe is so beyond comprehension in both size, matter, and theory, that it would be wholly possible to have alternate realities or worlds.

lol, glad someone understands.
and sometimes, when I dream, I'm not myself.
I remember, one of my dreams, I was heading into this town, at the beginning of my dream I thought it was my dad's hometown. But it turned out, it wasn't. I was a teenage boy, with a younger sister and parents who weren't actually my IRL ones. What happened was we ran into my 'dad's' old best buddy, who he owed a lot of money or something happened. and then he proceeded to take us into his home and hold us captive until he killed us. We tried to escape, and we did. And we realize we didn't have time to go into our car, so we just ran away from his home. And we said we'd start a new life and everything was happy. And as we were walking into the bank my parents were killed and after that, I was so scared I forced myself asleep.

Ash, I have waken from a dream and cried...such as you discribe, but it was in my own bed lol. I don't remember the dream, I just remember crying the rest of the night.

I had a reoccuring dream once...we were in my kindergarden school and I was in the gym. My bed was there. I would lay down on my bed and a man with a gun would be at the door. Each night he got closer to me. When he got so very close to me, one night, I was scared to death to go to sleep the next night...fearing what came next.

loololol
I wanna share dreamz.
Mine are all weird though :|

Pour example,
I remember once in a dream I was having a jump-rope party in my driveway and Mary-Kate and Ashley showed up. But the cute 12 year old versions of them.
For some reason my driveway was pink.

Another one I had was that I was going to summer camp, but summer camp was actually my grandparent's bathroom. While I was singing camp songs with the soap and shampoo, I realized that I wasn't in camp, I was just in a bath room. So I went outside to find my parents and grandparents playing badmitton in the parking lot. When I looked up at the roof, I saw and eyeball rolling down and I screamed and looked away. When I finally looked back up, I realized it was only an avacado.

I used to also have a lot of dreams about this one girls dad. (Who I never met.) He always showed up in my dreams, but it would only be his head. He had thick glasses and his eyes were red swirls and he had curly brown hair. His head was always like spinning in a bush. I have no idea how I knew it was her dad, but I did.

I guess the scarriest dream I can remember was the one where vampire cheerleaders took over my school, and the only way to defeat them was to beat this snowboarding video game.

Oh, wait! I do actually remember one that scared me!
You know that guy who smashes watermelons?
Right, well, this dream sort of started in the middle of a dream.
I was ridng a white school bus covered in paint-ball splats, and half the bus was gone. The watermelon guy was chasing us in a clowncar with a paint gun. He was shooting all the kids in the bus with it. She shot my best friend, and she died. Then he shot me and I died. Thats the only time I've eve died in a dream.

Yep.

Sometimes I have dreams that continue where the last one left off, or it seems that way. It's so hard to explain. I have dreams about the future all the time. Everyone has some kind of knowledge about what the next day will be like. For example, on Monday I know that I will have Spanish, AP US History, Gym, French, English, Physics, and free in that order. So I will dream up a plausible day, with events that I know will happen. Then something completely unexpected happens, like I realize that I have a pop-test and a project due that day. I get really nervous, and then the dream changes to something else. My weirdest dreams are usually totally outrageous scenarios involving people I know. Just the other night, I dreamt that my current French and previous Western Civilization teacher were married. The W.C. teacher had his earring in. (That's another story. It seemed like the whole class noticed at the same time. One day, we just noticed the tiny hole. Everyone finds it hilarious.) I have heard that you have over 50 dreams every night, but only remember two, is that correct?

Of course... often. It's horses. It used to be that there'd be horses in my dreams only very, very rarely. I used to pray for horse dreams, since I wanted to be with horses so badly, and, well, that's the closest I'd ever gotten to them.

Dreams don't really have any otherworldly meanings. Yes, they could be indicators of things in your life... showing you things that you *know*, but do not realize. Eh... actually, I'm not sure. I think demons *can* effect your dreams, but only using information/images/experiences that are already in your mind.

I was at a sporting goods store. I was planning on buying an Osi Umenyiora jersey. (He's number 72 on the New York Giants.) The guy at the counter asked what I wanted. I said, " I'd like a Umenyiora jersey." He asked me if I wanted it to be an Eagles jersey or a Cowboys jersey. Me, having a blonde moment, said, "Ummm cowboys."

A second later I woke up and thought. Oh my God! Did I just buy a Cowboys jersey?! I must change this dream around.

I instantly fell back to sleep.

I started dreaming again. I was at the same store. I asked the guy at the counter if I could have a Giants jersey instead. So, I was happy that I got rid of the Cowboys jersey!

Just curious, does anybody write down the dreams they have? I do. I think its funny to look back on dreams you had a month ago. Its so easy to forget dreams.

Yes, though I usually end up writing them down a day or so later - which, unfortunately, means I forget a lot of detail.

I have several written down on paper. Here's three, from a comment posted a while ago on dA:

"Well, last night I had one where I, my elder sister, and two other random people were in some kind of transformer vehicle- it started as a monster truck, was a hovercraft for about half of the dream, and during part of it it was some sort of... thing with skiis for propulsion. It left behind a drive-trail of blueish-purple cellophane. The other events in that dream were pretty much indiscribable.

But, probably one of the weirdest dream in my recent memory... is where there were these royal, uber-beings were running away from.. some sort of assasins. The uber-beings, in order to hide from their attackers, turned into tomatos (still on the plant). I and (random person), intent on saving them, were desperately searching through a big patch of tomato plants, trying to find which ones were intelligent.

...there's also one in which self, when running around with some superheros (JLA), stopped apruptly, turned around, and said in a thoughtful voice, "Y'know? Wonder Woman's costume makes me think of Micky Mouse." Thankfully, Wonder Woman wasn't there. The others found that somehow halarious, which was weird, 'cause I was making a serious comment! Batman just scowled in disapproval, though."

No, I'm not normally that random. :rotfl:

This was my dream last night....

ok i dont remember that much so this is all i remember. ok i remember being in a dark classroom with all these different aged people. some were like 3rd graders and some were my age but anyway my teacher was singing "how to save a life". ok yea so the next thing i remember was these two 3rd graders they were best friends, right but i dont know we were in this random pool and one of the 3rd graders(dont ask me how i knew they were 3rd graders i just knew) gave the other one a skittle and said "put this in your mouth and then go under water" so the little girl did and the skittle got stuck in her throught and drowned. the end. but the other little girl did that on purpose and knew she was gonna die.

yeah i have weird dreams.

this is how it applies to yesterday...

my dad brought home these skittles yesterday for my little sister. they were the tropical kind and she didnt like 'em. so thats the skittle part. i dont know about the other parts with my teacher singing "how to save a life"
:confused3

there was this article in readers digest a while back about dreams and how they could scientificly mean something.

when i was little i had two really scary dreams were i was afraid to go to sleep the next night.

1) u would walk into this hospital/hotel type looking building. then u would sit down in this chair and if u let car dummies (u know the ones that are used to see if the car is safe in a crash test.) crack ur skull ud get this broom with a colored handle. it wasn't like bloody or gorey or anything, u would have to have had my dream to see how scary it was.

2) There was like this big crack in the ground an a witch lived in it and she would come up and do things that would make people scared. i remember telling my dad to lock her in our cupboard. another one of those dreams where u had to have it to see how scary it is.

u know it's a scary dream when u just get that uneasy feeling in the bottom of ur stomach.
