Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

Truth is, I know that should I ever finally get to WDI, I'll mostly be doing works on other people's projects.

That's okay by me... Tony Baxter borrowed from Marty Sklar's ideas when he came up with BTMRR (mostly BTMRR) and Splash.

Better yet- let's get a modified version of DL's Parade of Dreams for the MK's 40th. That'd make me happy.

I don't like to talk about speaking fairies as they do not exist. :snooty:

They're some sort of bakery item from tdl, i think they're adorable :d

What about designing a train that takes you around AK because let's say you want to get from one side of the park to another. also a train in epcotto take you, for instance, from Test Track to Soarin'. And for DHS, maybe one of those long cars that they use where the buses are and the people who go in their own cars park.

This is what I posted on TPAS in response to a train in the AK:
The AK is my favorite park (the best Imagineering of all of them) but I don't think a train would be a very logical solution.

As Robo said, it would require a major revamp of backstage areas, and would it cut through or around the safari?

If it went around, well that wouldn't be great, because the MK can fit in the Safari alone, it would be a looonng train trek.
If it went through, it would RUIN the theming.

Also, with the suggestion for a Peoplemover- Walt's vision was to move people through a CITY with peoplemovers and monorails, etc.

I don't know how you would theme a people mover to work well in an Asia theme, Africa theme, AND a Dinosaur theme all in one without it being intrusive or boring.

Sorry, just viewing this from an Imagineering perspective.

I'm going to vote no for the other parks, too. Especially for DHS. EPCOT is somewhat feasible, but for such a short distance- unnecessary.

Its really not that difficult to walk, aside from DHS (which is a little more difficult) the parks all have a relatively easy hub-and-spokes design.

If they're removing Backlot tour, and making Pixar Place, they should move the Laugh Floor there. Then no more theme intrusion.

Star Tours is pretty tame, IMO.

But Star Tours 2.0 will have like 10 different results, I think?
From the 30 seconds I saw of podracing by watching D23 clips on youtube, it looks pretty awesome.

Just wondering, what made you guys want to become Imagineers?

I always thought it would be an amazingly cool job. I have some neat ideas I'd love to get out there. For a while I pushed the dream aside, because I was told, and eventually thought myself, that it wasn't practical. But now, I'm ready to commit. I want Disney to retain the classic magic I've enjoyed. Now I need to go buy some Imagineering books and decide what field/s I'd like to persue.

I really hope that they have some elements from the original Star Wars in it. Those are the movies I fell in love with. <3

Plus, I think Luke Skywalker is pretty hot. XD

there is a disney collage program where you have a intern ship at walt disney world of 6 months for the regular program (Where you work as a normal cast member). then you can come back to do the business intern ship for anther 5 months. Then disney will ask you if you want to stay with the company after collage. That could increase your chances to get a good job at walt disney world.

I became absolutely obsessed with Disney summer of '07.
From there on out I studied every Disney park to the point where I know just about every ride in every park around the globe.

So, I figured I may as well put this to use, so imagineering it is.
I was planning to go into engineering to be an imagineer, but math and science? eh not really "my place". By a stroke of luck, I've always been really involved in backstage theater work, and now I'm planning to major in Theater Design - which encompasses many of the things Imagineering does.

Just as a warning to anyone planning to do the ImagiNations competition in college:

YOU CANNOT be a CM before the contest.

Additionally, you do not need to have done the CP to do a Professional Internship in WDI.
