Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

The moat at the MK is pretty huge.

I kinda wish they'd put walls up or something, but I'm weird like that.

ETA: I just realized they really couldn't. I forgot that the TL fountain system and all the way to Adventureland are all the moat.

People on the restaurants board think the Yak and Yeti decor is themed Indian-ish.. but its not.

I think Anandapur, though fictional (at least Disney's version ;)), is heavily based on central Asia, like Nepal.

Here we go, found an article:
"Indian, Nepalese, Indonesian, Cambodian and Thai "

I think the Yak and Yeti is more heavily Thai, Indonesian, and Nepalese.

It doesn't sell curry, so it's not Indian :p

From what i've read, there's a lot of "religious" content in Asia. Really, none of the religious content is based on any real religions. I know somewhere in that part, they have a tiger deity because no religions have a tiger as one.

Well that was the point of the post, that it feels Indian but doesn't have the food.

The prayer flags are the only real somewhat "religious" thing I can think of..

Yeah, the prayer flags are used in some religions, but the ones in Animal Kingdom have non-religious things printed on them, so they don't offend anyone I guess.

Yeah that makes more sense, they have animals on them v. prayers. Still, I love how authentic they feel, I saw a picture of legit Everest with them all draped across and it made me think of Animal Kingdom.

Joe Rohde is a genius. He's also responsible for a big part of TDS's ToT I think.

People are way too uptight about the fact the castle is being refurb'd.

It's not going to ruin a vacation, and the keeping up the aesthetic of the park for long term is an important process.

A few sacrifices are going to have to be made, or else the parks would fall to total disrepair.

The mentality is "I know but not during my vacation!" but when else would they do it? The offseason is the only appropriate time to begin... it wouldn't make sense to do it during peak seasons.

I haven't actually seen any pictures of the castle being refurbed. How bad is it?

All I've seen is the moat which is currently getting a few criticisms.

It is a little ugly because it just such a huge body of water, but its gotta be done.

I haven't seen the moat completely emptied. It did look odd. I know that there's also a crane up taking down the decorations, but that should go down during the afternoons.

The Under the Sea portion of Ariel almost reminds me of the Graveyard of the HM- an immersive environment full of characters singing and enjoying said environment.

Speaking of the HM... The Hat-Box Ghost is NOT making a return D:

The tests in his original location weren't good due to new effects, and then they new it would be a lot of work to figure out and convert a new place for him which scared off upper management who then canceled the project all together.

It's a little upsetting, but I still hope one day the HBG will make his return.

Wow the music for Sorcery in the Sky is AWESOME:

Out There from Hunchback
Raider's March from Indiana Jones
Mary Poppins music

I neeed to see this show!

Hollywood studios plays it on the Fourth of July I think.. not sure, but I know its only once or twice a year.. it's a fireworks show.

I think the show was done when the park was first opened, but now it's only done for special events (like Fantasyland in the Sky for New Years Eve)

Yup, from Wikipedia:

Sorcery in the Sky (1990 - 1998) — This fireworks show debuted in 1990 when the film Fantasia was celebrating its 50th anniversary. The show was canceled in 1998, and its replacement was Fantasmic!, debuting later that same year. While Sorcery in the Sky is no longer performed, a Hollywood-themed fireworks show is still occasionally presented during corporate functions and on special evenings such as New Years Eve and Independence Day.

I've heard rumours of it, and also that they'll tear down the backlot tour to do it.
