Just a Curious Crazy "Can This Be Done" AP Question...

Myself, DH and DS (6) are going in Aug. and my sister is joining us for the end of the trip. DH, DS and I have APs and my sister has a 5-day PH from UC.

Her first day at Disney, my sister is having a special day with DS as he wants to Park Hop just him and his Aunt. We have a fishing trip that morning and afterwards DS and my sister will go their way, DH and I will go ours and we will meet for dinner.

My sister also likes to spoil her only nephew and will most likely be buying him some special gifts on their special day.

Now here's the "can this be done" question. If my sister has DS AP and also his passport (he has one for plane and cruise travel) do you think when purchasing him items she can use the AP discount if she shows his AP and ID? Is the AP discount good for child APs?

Chances are we won't do this as it's probably safer to leave DS passport locked in room safe then carry it around and DS and my sister have different last names and I don't want anyone to think my son is with a strange adult. But I was just curious as my sister tends to get him nice things and the discount would be helpful if she could use it.

From what I've heard, the person whose name is on the AP has to be the one purchasing. Someone posted that a cm saw someone give an item to a family member to purchase with the AP discount and they refused it.

Why not let DS have charging on his KTTW. and have the aunts cc linked to his card. that way the aunt is essentially paying and DS is getting the AP discount.

That's a good thought ajasmom...we are planning on getting Disney gift cards before we leave to pay for virtually everything we buy down there and I was thinking of getting a gift card just for DS so he has a budget so maybe I'll tell my sister to get him one as well to use on their special day and this way it gives them both a budget (it's hard for her to say "no" to him!) and he can use his AP card and the gift card to buy his gifts...THANKS for the insight!!

Yep this is what I was thinking! Get him gift cards and he can walk up and buy with his AP. Might as well squeeze everything out of that pass!

I do see a flaw in this. Since the child is 6, I can see Auntie holding the card for safe-keeping. Auntie gives the card to the child, and th cashier stops the sale because Auntie is supposively paying for the item. Even if it's really the child's card.

I'd tell Auntie to make sure the cashier is out of eye-contact before giving him the card. Possibly, even outside the store.

Do y'all think this would work? In marker, write the child's name on the gift card. Maybe the cashier will assume it's actually the child's card, and allow the transaction to go through, even though Auntie is handling the card.

Yes, common sense should dictate. The cashier should realize that Auntie is holding the card for the child. However, I've heard it doesn't.
