Jury duty during our trip

Dh received a letter for jury duty for federal court, 2 days prior to our trip. He called and they have a recording stating that we need to show proof of when our trip was made, when the final payment was made, and proof that we are not entitled to a refund if we cancel.

We booked this trip during FD, have great reservations, so not even sure if we can change since the current promo is over for our dates.Also we used points for free airfare, and those are non refundable, at least that is what the airline told DH.

Anyone I have talked to has never heard of such things when trying to CHANGE the time of jury duty service. We are 42 days out. DH is not trying to get out of it, just change to the following week.

You can't even talk to a person, it is not an option. He has to send in his receipts certified mail, and then wait to hear if it is approved for him to miss. Mind you, he is due to report in 40 days.

What state are you in?

My experience has been I could give them a hard date ASAP after and I did go in for that.

I don't know about your state/county. But here I was asked to give evidence of my vacation copies of your flight plans and reservation. Find out what they require.

My county did allow me to postpone my jury duty. Each area is different. Do they have a website?

Where I live you can postpone for any reason to any date within the next year. I did that once when I got jury duty in college, postponed to a day during break.
