Hello, Im sorry if this has been posted before but I just wondered, what is the drop actualy like on the River Adventure in Florida?

I have watched a few videos on you tube :surfweb: and it doesnt seem to last very long but you cant really see much as its so dark!

Rides dont really bother me that much but log flume type rides always get me scared, :)

It is 85 ft. (26 m) long. The beginning part is dark because that is where the excitement begins!

Yeah, I knew the drop was that big :scared1:

Just wondered if it was over quite quick and if it was a 'tummy turner'

Have you ever been on Splash Mountain? It is similar to that. It's lots of fun! It is dark and loud though.

Yeah, Ive been on S.M and I enjoyed it. Hopefully I will be ok then. As long as the drop is over quick Im sure Ill be fine :thumbsup2

I just looked on Wikipedia, and it said that the SM drop is 52 feet long vs the 85 foot drop on JP. But it is over quick. Be ready to get wet though.

Thanks, I have read everywhere that it gets you soaked! :thumbsup2

I will go on it no matter what I was just trying to prepare myself :lmao:

Well...it's hard to say if you are going to get soaked on JPRA. It depends on the boat's weight, how many people are in the boat, how the weight is distributed, etc. I've been sprayed most of the time but rarely soaked. If you want soaked, stick with Ripsaw Falls and the Bilge Rat Barges. There is also a splash zone at JPRA you can stand in that will do the trick.

i always lean forwards so the party behind me gets all the water.

you won't get soaked then.

All these other posters are sugar coating it. It is horrible!:rotfl2: No, it is not that bad. I think it is more intense than Splash Mountain, not for the length of the drop, but the angle. It seems to me that it feels more of a straight down drop instead of a sloping drop. But it is fun. I would definitely do it.

Look at it this way...a t-rex is going to bite your head off if you don't make the 81 ft plunge!

Like Reelmom, I feel it's more intense than SM. My boys and I got soaked but it was something I'm glad I tried.

This thread has me terrified. hahaha. We've been hardcore Disney forever and this is our first time at Universal in over a decade. We're taking our almost 9 year old, almost 7 year old and almost 6 year old this weekend and my stomach already feels like it's in my throat. I have never ridden any of the coasters/log rides at Universal because I was terrified of them when we were there. In the past 3 years I have come to love the coasters and all at Disney, but the Splash still scares me to death. And the thought of going upside down in the light makes me want to cry. LOL. But I want to ride everything. And this thread worries me. haha. Gonna bite the bullet but I always thought Splash's drop felt pretty steep - to hear this feels even more steep is scary.

Are there seatbelts? Because with the lapbar, I have no problems with Splash. But without I want to die. haha

I know what you mean!! I will go on it as I dont want to miss out! I suppose the way we have to look at it is that the drop will only last a few seconds and then its over! Done and dusted :cool1:

Thats the way Im looking at it anyway :lmao:

I think it is more intense than splash.....but so much more fun!!!!

I love the drop and wish it were steeper, I have come off soaked and I have come off dry as a bone.

My ds last year refused to come on anymore as he was always totally drenched and I had one or two splashes on me :rotfl: Was even funnier when DH was soaked also and I was dry!!!

Like macraven last year I was towards the front of the boat and leaned forward as we hit the water and the couple behind me got all the water over them

It`s a fantastic ride and definately not to be missed miss kitty......I`ll bet you love it :thumbsup2

I find the drop not frightning at all, less intence than most flume rides. :)
Somebody who has better memory than i do has to tell you if there are lap bars or not, no matter how hard i try i just cant remember

Hopefully when we go back in Jan again it isn't down for rehab. But I am not optimistic
